hen future anesthesiologist Erin Kutay sat down next to future radiologist Neal Bost at Tulane Medical School orientation, she had no idea she was going to marry the Texan boy with the “great southern manners.” The two struck up a conversation, became friends and, six months later, began their courtship. A visit from New Orleans to NorCal turned into a proposal when Neal outfitted out a cottage at The Carneros Inn in Napa Valley with roses. “I asked him to propose again, so I could remember,” she says. The day was so special that Erin wanted to get married exactly 365 days later—but they settled for 366. The Pittsburgh-born Palo Altan had long known a place she loved. A middle school field trip to the Legion of Honor in San Francisco still remained clear in her memory. “I was so inspired back then by the architecture of the building and the artwork,” Erin recalls. On their special day, cloaked in fog on the lawn in front of the museum, Neal’s older sister officiated the nontraditional ceremony. Erin promised, among other things, to regularly make her husband barbecued chicken sandwiches. After the kiss, the couple’s 120 guests departed for the interior of the museum, where a seated Mediterranean-Asian themed feast from Paula LeDuc followed, and dancing to the Chuck Wansley band.
