LocatedonahillinthemiddleofSantiagocity,theprojectlooks todeveloptheaccessibilitybetweenthecityandthetopofthe hill,wherethemainZooissituated.Creatinganunderground connectionthroughanaquarium,withaglassroofthatallowsthe entryoflightthatgeneratesavisualconnectioninsidethe buildingandtheouterhill’ssurface.
Thegoaloftheprojectistocreateaninternalatmosphere,withits ownrules,velocityandtime.Thebuildingencouragesonetolearn fromtheexperience,whilewalkingthroughdifferentsstations thatopennewpossibilities.

Throughthisasustainableenvironmentisdevelopedover time.Thisalsoaddstotheecologicalvalueinthearea.
Reutilizingtheremovedsoilfromthecanalexcavation, createsatopographyfortheplaygroundareathathelpsby makinganintermediarybetweenthehumidanddryzone. SITE DESCRIPTION
The inspiration for the design of the landscape at Belcamp Hall and many of the large houses throughout Ireland and the UK came from the English landscape garden. The philosophy behind the English Landscape garden was Naturalism, favouring curved lines, gentle slopes, lakes and woodlands moving away from the strict formal geometric gardens of the Baroque period. These gardens were designed to look natural and be a place for meditation and relaxation, encouraging visitors to wander throughout the landscape finding hidden ornamentation in nature to give a sense of mystery to the landscape.
The proposed design recognises the historical importance of the walled garden and environs and respects the previous historical garden designs in terms of layout and scale. The layout successfully incorporates a café/pavilion building and terrace providing a significant attraction and draw for both locals and visitors alike.
The provision of a community garden for locals to grow organic vegetables/fruit enclosed by planting. The garden may include an educational benefit to grow a range of plants which would attract pollinators and include herbaceous perennials.

The landscape strategy to the external spaces within the proposed development is to produce a scheme with a strong identity and distinctive sense of place that fosters a connection and attachment between people and their surrounding environment
This will be achieved by creating a legible environment for people to live within and move through by using a hierarchy of materials and planting to create different zones and provide visual cues to how people may move through or use these spaces. This network of public spaces within the development will utilize the existing landscape elements including the topography and the existing trees -where achievable. The site includes a series of main and ancillary communal spaces which include :

Our approach revitalizes the landscape through sustainable integration of both reclaimed and new materials thoughtfully selected furniture, diverse plantings, strategic lighting, and water elements. This blend promotes a seamless and harmonious interaction between traditional and contemporary elements. Incorporating vibrant wildflower meadows, perennial gardens and strategic tree planting enhances biodiversity and establishes a climate-resilient town center.
Distinctive features such as the canopy structures at the community center and bus stop, interactive water elements, and informative signage contribute to a strong sense of place. These design elements collectively create a dynamic and enduring community hub for residents and visitors alike
