Happy and healthy new year to all! We are here again with a blank page in front of us, ready to take on new projects – individually or as a group! Let’s think about our next community quilt design while we continue to help local charity organizations with baby quilts, adult clothing protectors, placemats, walker bags and more. Let’s share new ideas and techniques and hopefully welcome new members to share them with.
Our second community quilt is currently hanging inside Member Services at the Northwoods Clubhouse for all to see and will remain there until it is donated to the local hospice. We invite you to stop by and take a peek; I dare say it’s quite lovely!
Quilt Club meets in the Alder Room downstairs at The Lodge Restaurant & Pub from 1-3PM on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. Please contact Odette at odette.turmel@gmail.com for more information and to learn about our latest projects.

4-WHEELERS CLUB
We had 13 vehicles – 23 adults, two kids and six dogs – on our ride to Virginia City. Taking the “hard way,” we started at the Jumbo Grade OHV Trailhead near Washoe Lake and rode the main trail into the south end of town, which includes portions of Ophir Grade. We saw lots of old mining diggings along the way and spent a couple of hours exploring Virginia City. Afterward, we headed up Spanish Ravine to the high trail and proceeded to the top of Ophir Hill (7,772 feet in elevation!) where we passed a majestic herd of wild horses on the mountainside. It was a steep, rocky climb but everyone made it through safely. The views from the top were definitely worth the effort. In total, we traveled 17.4 miles with 2,964 feet of elevation gain in our four-and-a-half-hour adventure. It was a great day!
TD 9-HOLERS CLUB
The TD 9-Holers board and committees are busy planning for the 2023 golf season! The online membership application process will start in March, and preseason events have been scheduled in March and April to allow us to catch up and get ready for summer golf. Our spring brunch and new member orientation will be held in May, and as soon as our course is open, we’ll begin regular Thursday morning play days.
The Clinics Committee is excited about the upcoming schedule of events, and our Starter/Scorer Committee is prepping for an especially fun season featuring “Game Days” to shake it up. In the meantime, we are enjoying winter recreation here in Tahoe Donner and golf in lower elevations. Our friendly, supportive club is a great way to meet new friends and improve your game through easy-to-fit-in, inclusive 9-hole play. For club info, email td9hole@gmail.com
