Condominium Updates
Aspen Grove
With the COVID-19 infections expanding throughout the country, NPOA has been doing a remarkable job in providing safe recreational opportunities. Hopefully, this can continue throughout this coming Winter ski season.

At Aspen Grove we have had a very busy Fall season. We have been able to proceed with many of our ongoing projects, including foundation repairs and new paver pathways. The foundation work should be completed next summer. Alternatives for covering all of the foundations throughout the Aspen Grove Community are currently being explored and will be initiated when the remaining foundation work is completed. The work on the new paver pathways will also continue into next Spring and Summer. The new pathways will have more steps than the former pathways, but this was necessary to meet code. Alternatives for highlighting the steps and additional pathway lighting are currently under consideration. This pathway project will not only enhance the aesthetics of our community but will also address safety concerns.
Unauthorized parking and trash disposal in our community dumpsters continue to be issues, as is true with the other Northstar condominium associations. To address this, the Aspen Grove Condominium Association is considering putting gates at the entrance of both Aspen Grove and Silver Strike. However, no final decision has yet been made.
The Aspen Grove Board is also working to update our CC&Rs and Bylaws. This work will continue over the next several months.
The Aspen Grove Community is located in close proximity to the NPOA Recreation Center and the Northstar Village. The above improvements are intended to enhance our enjoyment of this beautiful area.
Indian Hills Physically separated and socially connected!
At the time of writing this article, we only have signs of winter coming and the hope for many feet of snow falling in our near future! This will be winter like no other with the accommodations being made for COVID-19. We are all anticipating the reservation system will work great and we will have access to wonderful days on the mountain.
When staying in Indian Hills please remember to display your parking permit. Security will be checking, ticketing and towing if temperature drops, just a reminder to leave the inside temperature to 50 degrees and turn off the water. Broken pipes are no fun to deal with. COVID-19 is hard for everyone, it has disrupted our way of life, infected millions and killed thousands. It has forced us to work from home, provide school at home and limit our contact with friends and family. The ability to work from anywhere has created an influx of more permanent residents to Indian Hills and reduced the available inventory of condos for sale.
We all want to celebrate the holidays with family and enjoy traditions. Yet this year that may not be the wisest move. Family gatherings are a significant source of spreading the virus. If we all do our part by wearing masks, washing hands, physically distancing and staying socially connected we can contribute to keeping Placer County infection rates low, allowing services to be open. Use video conferencing to see your friends and family. If you are feeling stressed about COVID-19 you can visit www.calhope. dhcs.ca.gov or call 833 317-HOPE (4673) for support.
Our hope is for a winter when it snows so much we need to allocate more funding for snow removal and that we all stay safe, healthy and connected to our Indian Hills and Northstar Community!

In surely what is the longest year of all our lives, we finally made it to ski season. At least as I write this, Northstar is open, and despite the masks and distancing and continued horrific pandemic headlines, there’s a small feeling of normalcy when you step off the chair lift and take a run down the slope.
Again this year at the entrance to the Ski Trails parking lot, you’ll find a guard checking for valid Ski Trails parking passes. Say hello to Zack if you happen to pass by him in the mornings. He’ll also be tagging cars that are parked in the lot without a pass, and he’ll be calling to have any egregious violators towed, so make sure you or your renters have a valid pass clearly visible in your windshield – we’d hate to see you towed simply because you forgot to display your pass.
A few weeks ago, you should have received the annual reminder about our snow removal policy. It’s important to remember that Ski Trails is in a winter climate, and so our roads, lots, pathways and stairs may at times be quite slick. While we have a snow removal contractor, it’s impossible to keep everything completely free and clear of ice and snow at all times – especially during a storm. So we remind you to use caution when walking or driving, and if you feel that the conditions are unsafe, we’d urge you to remain indoors until crews can get the job done.
If you haven’t already, you should also be hearing soon about the upgrade to our wifi service at Ski Trails. Board member Mike Kim has been working with Charter to have them update the infrastructure that serves us (the cables, mostly). When that work is complete, you can request an upgraded cable modem from Charter that will support much faster internet speeds than what we have now. Look for the details in a separate mailing.
Although our ability to do maintenance decreases in winter, as always keep an eye out for anything you see that might need to be addressed sooner rather than later and let CAMCO know. For example, the water feeding the washing machines in our laundry rooms is set to have a continuous drip to avoid having the pipes freeze. If you see that something doesn’t look right, please give CAMCO a call.
As always, stay safe and enjoy the winter!
