Governing Committees

what does the landscape committee do for the arrowcreek community?

The Landscape Committee works with the ACHOA General Manager Scott Peterlin, Arborist Dave Dingman and Facilities Supervisor Elvin Evans to research concerns they observe, that have been brought to their attention by other residents, and/or by the Board. The committee studies and recommends actions that create a unique ArrowCreek community “look and feel” which is elegant, eye pleasing, consistent with Reno’s climate and natural resources and which might enhance the value of ArrowCreek homes.

The nineteen neighborhoods that make up the ArrowCreek Community were not landscaped in a unifying way by the original developer. Many non-native, invasive, reclaimed water intolerant plant varieties were originally used and have not thrived. The Landscape Committee reviews the reclaimed water reports, listens to the Arborist and Facilities Manager findings and resolutions about landscaping ArrowCreek common lands, and discusses appropriate plantings that tolerate less-than-perfect water, high desert conditions yet still are attractive within ArrowCreek. Through lessons learned in improving the landscape, the Committee then makes recommendations to the ACHOA Board to continue or improve measures for making the community grounds attractive for residents and visitors.
