board of directors' note

Summer is definitely here. The sheep are grazing, the pools are open, the gym has opened, and more people are seen out and about. With more and more facilities being allowed to open, we may even be able to consider social events like Meet ‘n Greet, the summer picnic and more. Watch for signs at the gate and email blasts if we are able to schedule anything.

On the subject of being out and about, the Board would like to remind residents about golf cart usage. We and others have observed carts, mostly driven by children, carrying more than the number of passengers for which they were designed. We have also noted carts being driven by children who do not appear to be 16 carrying other children. Children between ages 14 and 15 can only carry family members, and a child under 14 may only drive if accompanied by an adult.

On another note, it was made abundantly clear at the Town Hall meeting in May that no motorized vehicles (other than e-bikes) may travel anywhere on Washoe County’s Arrowcreek Open Space land that surrounds our community. The Board, our General Manager and our Security Director are looking at areas where we might be able to create trail access through HOA common area to connect to Ballardini Ranch Road, which would allow access to the Ballardini Ranch Trail. In the meantime, you can access trails from Timberline and from Lone Tree Way. Please do not drive in the open space areas and please do not trespass on private property. You may have noticed crews working on our walking paths. By the time you read this, that work will have been completed and SNC will have begun work on the roads. Please cooperate with the traffic control personnel. Our General Manager, Scott Peterlin, has written an article on this year’s road work that appears later in this issue.

One of the ways that the Board and our Community Manager communicate with the community is via email. Unfortunately, we have email addresses for only about 65% of homes. If we do not have your email address, you miss out on important communications. Moreover, if we must communicate with you because we are required to by law, you force us to have to use the USPS. Every mailing sent out by our Community Manger costs the HOA money. In other words, by not having your email address via your signed Owner Information form (the form is posted on TownSq, the ArrowCreek.com website and is available upon request) you impose costs on yourself and every other owner. Please reconsider your decision and provide your email address by completing the Owner Information form and submitting it to our Community Manager. Our email address list is never made public, and all emails are sent via BCC so that no names or addresses are disclosed in any communication.

Note to speeders: The new speed cameras are installed and they can photograph the rear end of your car as you go by. Please observe our speed limits. The safety of our residents, pets and wildlife depends on it.

There is also an article on this topic later in this issue.

We mentioned above that the sheep are back. Please remember to keep your dog on a leash when in the area. As of this writing, there have been no incidents, and we would like to keep it that way. Also, fire crews are working on fuels reduction in areas other than where the sheep are grazing. As was mentioned at the last Board meeting, this work is being funded by state funds and a grant from NV Energy, so there is no cost to the Association. Our Fuels Management Committee has done an outstanding job in this regard.

In closing, the Board wishes you and yours a very enjoyable and safe summer!
