FROM THE CEO AND BOARD CHAIR April 29, 2023 Welcome to the 15th annual Hope Solutions’ gala, Ruby Boots – There’s No Place Like Home! We are so excited you are here to celebrate with us. We have a wonderful evening ahead: silent and live auctions, dinner, and dancing! Tonight, you will hear a brief update on our organization, and most importantly, you will hear from our client Kristina, whose family is thriving because of the help she has received from Hope Solutions – a direct result of support from friends like you.

Her story is a powerful example of how stability, housing, and a loving community can transform lives.

Ruby Boots would not be possible without the tremendous backing of so many amazing people and organizations. We especially want to thank the incredible Ruby Boots committee, sponsors, staff, and board of directors for their passionate commitment and work. Since 1997, Hope Solutions’ evidence-based model of permanent housing coupled with support services has consistently achieved dramatic results in improving the outcomes of the most vulnerable in our community. We are working tirelessly to expand our impact and to continue to respond to the increasing need for permanent affordable housing, including a commitment to build or renovate new homes in the community in the coming years. Tonight, we want every guest to have a fabulous time, to get to know us better, and to become part of the Hope Solutions family. SILENT AND LIVE AUCTION RULES

1. All bidders must have a bid number. You are responsible for purchases made with the bidding number assigned to you upon arrival.

2. To enter a bid in the Silent Auction, bidder writes their bidding number on the appropriate bid sheet, following minimum bid and maximum bid instructions. At the official close of the Silent Auction, staff will determine the purchaser based on the highest bid. You may bid on any item as often as you wish. Check back frequently to ensure your bid has not been surpassed.

3. To enter a Live Auction bid, bidder raises their bid card, number facing the auctioneer, signaling the bid. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and re-sell the article in dispute. Acknowledged bid constitutes a legally binding commitment by the bidder to purchase the item or service.

4. All sales are “as is” and final. All items must be paid in full before buyer’s departure using cash, personal check paid to the order of Hope Solutions or charged to your credit card. Credit cards will not be charged until Wednesday, May 3, 2023. If, after the event, you prefer to submit alternative payment (ie., personal check or DAF) please contact Hope Solutions by 5:00 pm on Monday, May 1, 2023.

5. Please read the auction item descriptions carefully. Offers have different expiration dates. The purchaser understands that if they are unable to claim the auction item or service within the specified period, the amount of the successful bid becomes a tax-deductible contribution to Hope Solutions and is NOT refundable.

6. Any values quoted are estimates only. Values are not warranted for tax purposes or general value. Hope Solutions has made reasonable efforts to accurately describe all packages but is not liable for inaccuracies in the item descriptions.

Amounts paid in excess of the fair market value may be deductible for federal income tax purposes. Bidders should consult their tax advisors.

7. Group purchases during the Live Auction: several people wishing to bid together on an item shall be represented by one bid number. Members of the group may pay for their portion individually, for tax purposes, at the time of checkout. The holder of the official bid number, however, is ultimately responsible for payment in full that night.

FUND-A-NEED

Your generosity will directly impact families and individuals who have experienced homelessness. You will help Hope Solutions work to keep families and individuals housed while providing the critical support services needed to alleviate poverty in Contra Costa County.

Thank you in advance for your generous support that allows us to make a difference in the lives of more than 2,200 people and their families each year. Your gift will help change a life!

$20,000 Will house one family for a full year and provide them with mental health counseling for six months.

$10,000 Helps keep a family of three stably housed for up to six months. $5,000 Helps provide a year of support services and on-site mental health counseling for a formerly homeless family of four.

$2,500 Provides over 100 hours of case management to prevent homelessness and eviction.

$1,000 Provides a semester of academic support and activities at

Homework Club for six to eight formerly homeless students.

$550 Helps provide 20 hours of housing navigation and advocacy team work with current homeless families and individuals to find permanent supportive housing.

$275 Will allow ten Hope Solutions’ resident students to participate in a week of on-site summer camp activities.

$150 Provides six hours of GED or college preparation workshops to individuals looking to further their education.

Item #3: Local Craft Beer Tasting & Tour Grab your friends for a chauffeured day of beer tasting at your favorite East Bay craft breweries. The Craft Beer Tour offers six beer enthusiasts a tour of (up to) five local craft breweries in the East Bay. Choose from a list of over 15 breweries located in Contra Costa and Alameda counties to curate your day. This package entitles the winner tasting at five local breweries, a car/driver, and certificate for beer tasting at each location for six people.

Carol and her team of culinary experts will work with the lucky winning bidder to plan one of three unique culinary adventures: Option 1. Cooking class for 8-10 people. Carol and team will lead a hands-on group cooking lesson for ricotta cheese, pasta, and more. They will demonstrate how easy and quick it is to make a wonderful homemade Italian feast. Enjoy appetizers, dinner and dessert with wine and cocktail pairings.

Option 2. Formal, sit-down dinner for 8-10 people. Pick a food style (Italian, Spanish, French, etc.) and enjoy scrumptious appetizers, dinner, and dessert – and of course the perfect wine pairing. Whether you’d like to experience a buttery delicate Poisson en Papillote reminiscent of the bistros of Southern France, a delectable tiramisu that transports you to a café in Rome, or a stunning sizzling skillet of Catalonian Paella – this experience is one you won’t want to miss.

Super Silent Auction Item #3: Cabin Getaway in Arnold Explore and relax for three days and two nights in Arnold, CA. This is a perfect weekend getaway, just over a two-hour drive from the East Bay. The Blue Lake Springs community offers plenty of tranquility and adventure. The cabin accommodates up to nine people, with three bedrooms, and is ideal for two families. Enjoy indoor entertainment including pool table, air hockey, Play Station, DSL, VCR, and DVD. There’s a hammock for naps and reading, a beautiful deck, and BBQ. Washer and dryer included.

The amenities include Sequoia Woods Country Club for golf, tennis, and pool and Snowflake Lodge Restaurant & Recreation Center. Located nearby: Bear Valley Ski Resort – for activities and adventure in both winter and summer; Lake Alpine and Stanislaus National Forest - both popular fishing and hiking destinations.

Restrictions and Logistics: This expires January 2025. A $1,000 deposit held for cleaning and maintenance will be returned upon return and inspection of property.

COMMUNITY HERO AWARD

Sara Marsh, 2023 Recipient We are thrilled to announce our 2023 Community Award winner, Sara Marsh, Hope Solutions Consulting Clinical Supervisor. This award recognizes Sara’s 15+ year commitment to the most vulnerable families in Contra Costa County and honors her leadership.

As the first clinician at Garden Park Apartments, Sara’s bold, creative leadership was invaluable to helping Hope Solutions grow from a small grass-roots organization serving 27 homeless families to become the premier non-profit providing permanent housing and support services to over 2,200 people in Contra Costa County.

“Sara was instrumental in building our service infrastructure in partnership with the residents at Garden Park Apartments,” said Deanne Pearn. “She didn’t come in with all the answers, but she facilitated the wisdom in the room and has led that way for her entire tenure at Hope Solutions working with our community.”

Sara has been a monumental pillar to our community – from creating and building powerful relationships, to guiding and leading our staff in the difficult work we do every day. She has greatly contributed to our ongoing success and growth while simultaneously helping build a more effective overall system of care in our County, and we’re so pleased to honor her in this way.

SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for volunteers that will host a summer camp at Garden Park Apartments, Lakeside Apartments, and Los Medanos Village in July.

Camps can include art, reading, sports, cooking, or any talent that volunteers would like to share with the kids in the program, and can be one day camps or multiple days in 2-hour slots.

We are also looking for assisting volunteers that will help during pre-planned activities.
