Spring 2019 (March-June) CCIH Opportunities for Involvement

Homework Club Support: We are looking for compassionate individuals to help in our afterschool Homework Club that goes from August through June. We need support at our Pleasant Hill & Pittsburg sites. You will provide academic and mentoring support to children from extremely low-income homes in grades K-12. Commitment is one afternoon per week (MondayThursday) for the entire school year. Adults and high school sophomores through seniors are encouraged to apply at www.ccinterfaithhousing.org/volunteer. Do You Want to Make a Difference in a Child’s Life? Support students in CCIH’s Youth Enrichment program on Fridays in Concord, 3:30-5. Homework help is available Monday – Thursday, but Fridays are reserved for fun! There are fun games and activities to bolster learning and increase self-esteem and community. This is a low-commitment opportunity to help kids have a great time, while learning in a safe environment. Contact Gloria@ccinterfaithhousing.org if interested. Interested in helping run a summer day camp for one week? We are currently putting together summer programming for kids (toddler through middle school), and we need your help. Many of these kids are formerly homeless or very low-income. In the past, volunteers (teens and adults) have organized small groups to host different “camps”. These activities take place at our housing sites (Pittsburg & Concord) for a couple hours/day for 3-5 days during the week. Some examples include: hosting a day dance camp; art camp; putting on a science camp; hosting a music camp; theater/improv; Tai Chi camp. Feel free to call and discuss ideas, sponsorship or just offer general help to an already formed camp week. All camps are supervised by on-site CCIH staff. Email gloria@ccinterfaithhousing.org for more information.
