ALUMNI UPDATE A Word from Alumni Association President, Charlie Gomez ’84
It has been a pleasure leading the Alumni Association for the past 18 months. Our Association has been busy supporting Central Catholic to create the best environment for current and future Buttons.
Since June of 2020, our Board of 23 dedicated members have come together to help support Central Catholic’s Student Scholarships and Student Development. We have raised over $185,000 to date, and our members are a hard-working group who give tireless hours to provide the best events in developing Alumni Outreach, Networking, and, most importantly, the continued success of Central Catholic.
Our events have achieved tremendous success since May 2021, and we are looking to continue this success in 2022. Events of note are below:
May 2021 - Alumni Round-up & Remembrance is an event where we honor Alumni who have passed, we remember them with a slideshow tribute, share stories, photos and memories. After the memorial tribute, we hold the Alumni Round-Up portion, where all alumni connect and renew old friendships.
May 2021 - The Senior Luncheon celebrated the Senior Class of 2020 and included words of wisdom and encouragement from our past Alumnus – Chris Monroe Class of 01.
June 2021 - Sporting Clays Classics an inaugural event was run with the Wild Game Dinner Committee to benefit student scholarships. Thanks to all of our sponsors, especially Ranger Concrete, which helped us raise over $25,000 for the first year. These proceeds immediately helped 16 Central Catholic students continue their education!
August 2021 - Our second annual Senior Yearbook distribution in which we distribute yearbooks to the latest graduates of Central Catholic. We welcomed and congratulated our newest Alums along with providing food and drink.
October 2021 - Our 2021 Alumni Golf Tournament took place at a new location - The Hyatt Hill Country Resort. Great thanks to all sponsors and a special thanks to Ricos Products. This was a record event that raised more than $83,000. Proceeds from this tournament benefited our student scholarship program.
