Water restrictions in place for some communities

Communities in the Saskatoon region are urging residents to voluntarily restrict their water usage.

Mandatory water restrictions were implemented by the City of Saskatoon on June 30, and are in effect until 11:59 p.m. Friday, July 15.

Communities that are supplied by SaskWater with treated water from Saskatoon s

treatment plant are also being asked to voluntarily ration water.

According to SaskWater, the restrictions are the result of reduced capacity at the treatment plant. The problem stems from a buildup of silt at the water treatment plant intake, and is caused by high water flows in the South Saskatchewan River.

The voluntary water restrictions are in place for Warman, Martensville, Osler,

Dalmeny, Hague, and rural waterline utilities including InterValley Water Incorporated.

According to Loretta Boors, General Manager of InterValley Water, the restrictions apply to all 293 user members, including businesses and dairies.

Communities celebrate Canada Day with old-fashioned family activities

Canada turned 144 years old last weekend, and several communities staged celebrations to mark the occasion.

Ranging from massive fireworks displays in major centres to pickup family softball games at country hall grounds, the common theme at every event was pride in being a Canadian.

The Town of Osler held a parade, a pancake breakfast and kids games throughout the day, followed by a fireworks display that night. A massive Canada Day cake was a highlight of the event.

It was much the same story in Warman, where hun-

dreds of people took in a 20-minute fireworks display esat of the High School grounds. A family-oriented day of games, face-painting and food ‒ including a pancake breakfast to kick off the day ‒ was also on the agenda.

In Martensville, the event was coordinated by the Community Access Centre, and featured such old-fashioned Canada Day activities as sack races, The Great Canadian Skipping Challenge and a big Canada Day cake, as well as an outdoor movie projected on the wall of the curling rink.

The annual Canada Day celebrations at the Floral Community Centre had a slightly smaller turnout than in past years, but that was because the holiday fell on a weekend.

Everybody who doesn t have a cabin at the lake is here, said Lori Ulrich,, a resident of the area.

The gathering at Floral featured a pickup softball game and potluck barbecue.

The Floral Community Centre is a former one-room schoolhouse that saw its last class in 1961. Volunteers have kept the building and grounds in pristine shape for several decades, and it is a popular place for family reunions, weddings and meetings of all sorts.

Crews begin connecting Hepburn to SaskWater line

Work began last week on the installation of the pipeline that will connect the Village of Hepburn to the SaskWater line near Dalmeny.

According to Hepburn Mayor Barb Eichendorf, work on the pipeline is one of three projects related to the new water system that should be in operation this fall.

Construction of the reservoir and pump station in Hepburn is pretty much complete, said Eichedorf in an interview July 2. We re just waiting to get the water into Hepburn so that pressure testing can be done.

She added that almost all of the water mains throughout the village were installed last year, and contractors are now working on connecting curbstops for residences and businesses to the water mains.

I think we re looking at around 220 curbstops and connections that have to be done, she said. The contractor has so far completed about 65 of them, so they re making good progress.

She said all three major phases of the project are moving along well, and she anticipates everything will come together by September.

Even if we don t have the entire system in place, we should be able to have things up and running for a large portion of it, she said. If we don t have all the curbstops to the home connections done, we can still do pressure testing on the sections of town that do have that done, and we

Installation of the pipeline north from Dalmeny to Hepburn is a major part of the water project, and Eichendorf is glad the process is now underway.

can get water to the homes.

Once we get the water to the reservoir then we can test the lines on a section by section basis.

Eichendorf said the village council is still in the process of deciding whether an existing town employee will be taking training to do the necessary water testing once the system is in place, or whether a new employee will be hired to do that job.

In the meantime, SaskWater will provide us with a testing service until we have someone in place, she said.

Multiple incidents of vandalism reported in Martensville Sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on May 22, a white car that was parked on the 600 block of 3rd Street South was spray painted with blue paint. Also during this time frame, a canoe was stolen from a residence on 6th Avenue South. The canoe was recovered in the Valley Manor Woods shortly after it was stolen. The culprits spray painted the canoe with blue spray paint. Both incidents are believed to be related.

Sometime between June 10 and June 11 a car parked in the 100 block of 5th Avenue North was damaged when an unknown person or persons scratched the paint along the length of the passenger side using a sharp object.

Sometime between July 1, and July 4 an unknown person or persons vandalized Andreas Park located at 1st Street South and 1st Avenue South. A memorial bench was destroyed and the wall containing memorial placards sustained considerable damage. This park was created in memory of a young child by the name of Andrea Kaminskas. The park also honours other children and families.

ATV SAFETY REMINDER The Martensville RCMP are reminding the public to use caution when operating ATVs. The most common cause of ATV incidents is loss of control, in which speed, inexperience and alcohol are often a factor.

The Martensville RCMP would like to see everyone have a fun, safe ride this summer on ATV s, however there are some things you should know before you head out.

You must be 16 years of age, and hold a valid drivers license to operate an ATV in a public area. Youth between the ages of 12 and 15 can operate an ATV in public areas and may cross roads ‒ but cannot drive on roads ‒ if they have passed an approved ATV training course or if they are supervised by someone who has held a driver s licence continuously for at least one year.

Respect makes this province work

Taxpayer friendly platform - Part II

Last week, we explored some tax reduction options we floated to political parties for consideration in their platforms for the upcoming provincial election.

The ideas were part of a taxpayer friendly election platform released by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

We noted a couple examples last week that showed how reducing tax rates can spur economic growth and lead to higher tax revenues for the government.

This week, we ll explore the second way the government can afford to reduce taxes ‒ by spending your tax dollars more efficiently.

First up, let s look at public education.

Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia all have bureaucrat offices working independently on K-12 curriculum documents. Doesn t that seem wasteful?

Imagine if there was better cooperation between the provinces. Say, if Saskatchewan produced material for grades K-3, Alberta grades 4-8 and B.C. grades 9-12. The material could then be shared amongst the three, reducing staff overlap at the same time.

Speaking of schools, what about reducing the number of school boards?

With one school board managing over 250,000 students in Toronto, does Saskatchewan really need 27 school boards for its 160,000 students?

Another idea we suggested is to look at a regional pilot project whereby a school could be funded directly by the province, completely eliminating the need for a school board all together. After all, independent schools operate without that extra layer of bureaucracy.

One thing is for certain, as enrolment has dropped by over 10 per cent over the past decade, and as K-12 education costs have skyrocketed by over 47 per cent, this is one area that is ripe for a spending review.

In terms of overall government programs, we also suggested the government could save money by injecting some competition into the mix.

For example, when the City of Winnipeg partnered with a private sector firm to pick up garbage for the remaining section where city workers still provided the service, costs went down by 36 per cent. At the same time, complaints went down by 20-25 per cent annually. In other words, taxpayers received a better service at a lower cost. The province could explore cost reductions by opening up services such as payroll, building security and park maintenance to competition.

The key though is not just to partner with the private sector, but to encourage existing employees to bid-in for the work as well. As the City of Indianapolis found when it opened up services to competition, many city employees submitted the best bids as they knew exactly where to trim the fat. They just didn t have the incentive to speak up under the old system.

For services that can t be tendered, why not change the model to focus on results rather than simply spending for the sake of spending. Many organizations have used a model known as gain-sharing to give employees the incentive to reduce costs.

Under gain sharing, when an employee comes up with an idea that saves taxpayers money, he or she would get to share a portion of the savings. For example, if an office decided to downsize its office area from 2,000 square foot down to 1,000 square feet, employees could share in some of the lower rental cost savings. Of course, they would only share in the savings if their productivity levels were consistent and/or higher than before.

Every political party in Sask should be looking to make the government more efficient, so here s hoping they efficiently steal a few of these ideas.

Saskatchewan will always be a province with its divisions.

That s just who we are. We are rural. We are urban. We are business. We are labour. We come from the co-operative social democrat belief. We come from the free enterprise, independent conservative view.

It has been ever thus in Saskatchewan, but we ve survived because of one important thing: We respect that we all need each other if we are to make it through times of greatest need.

This is what s got us through harsh winters, vicious summer storms and droughts. We ve learned that there are times when our beliefs and passions must be secondary to the need to pull together. And we have somehow figured out that taking advantage of situations or vilifying the other side in these times of need gets us nowhere.

Or at least, we ve tried. We still occasionally forget the importance of respect for one another that got previous generations through the hard times.

And this spring has reminded us that the age-old struggle is alive and well ‒ even as we all know we should be setting aside our differences to deal with the flooding.

At the heart of this issue is the decision by the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union (SGEU) to pull its crop insurance adjusters from work just as the farmers have become filling in flood-damage claims.

While most of the criticism has been rightly levelled at the union for its comments and actions, this is a classic situation where both sides have clearly forgotten the need to be co-operative, conciliatory and ‒ most importantly ‒ respectful.

The situation got out of hand quickly, because of one stupid comment from SGEU President Bob Bymoen that striking crop adjusters had a window of opportunity here where they can put pressure on the employer and they re accessing that opportunity.

This comment was completely insensitive to farmers and others whose life and livelihood have been threatened by the flooding. Bymoen was rightfully hammered for being disre-

spectful. After all, it is the unions who always talk about how they are really working for Saskatchewan and the need for all Saskatchewan to pull together.

What should also be noted, however, is that was one stupid remark. SGEU negotiating chairman and spokesman Allan Evans was far more conciliatory and apologized for the disruption. After two years of negotiation in which the government hadn t moved off 5.5 per cent over three years, there was no progress being made, Evans said. And while the spring flooding was a bad time for crop adjusters to go on strike, so would summer hail season or after a fall frost.

Obviously, this doesn t absolve SGEU from Bymoen s remark. Nor does it change the reality that SGEU did pull

its workers during the flooding in an attempt to apply a little leverage to government. This was disrespectful.

But let s add a little more perspective. Crop inspectors were in a legal strike position and the government offer after two years was hard generous or respectful.

And it seems a bit of an over reaction after one-day off the job to be legislating back to work a few employees whose main job is to help fill in insurance forms. A lot of people would agree with Premier Brad Wall that their actions were unconscionable and deplorable. Bymoen s comment was certainly disrespectful.

But if the union and its leadership behaved disrespectfully, one could argue that so did Wall ‒ especially in his eagerness to vilify them. After all, many crop adjusters are farmers, too ‒ or at least rural people whose live in rural Saskatchewan and are well aware of the reality out there right now.

And the one thing all of in this province should know is things don t work here unless people have respect for one another.

RM electoral boundaries debate a diversionary issue

Everybody knows the Conservatives hate the Canadian Wheat Board.

It starts with Stephen Harper and goes all of the way down the line to every prairie MP that was elected in May. So, it s no surprise to hear they want to get rid of the single desk, and that they want to do it soon as their friends in the grain industry will let them.

Still, it s hard to stomach some of the comments that come out of Minister Gerry Ritz s mouth when he responds to those who won t just stand by while the government steamrolls the Board out of existence. All this added investment and innovation that he s talking about when the single desk is gone ‒ where s it going to come from and who s it going

In the June 30 edition of the Clark s Crossing Gazette, there was an article dealing with a petition from Corman Park residents who want to change the electoral boundaries in the RM. A preliminary perusal of their perfidious proposal reveals that they apparently have collective moral amnesia.

It appears to me that this petition is aimed at: 1. attacking your neighbours at their weakest moment; 2. attacking the new duly-elected hands-on Reeve, Mel Henry, when he is preoccupied with flood mitigation; It also contains a constant barrage of bizarre accusations that, while not proven, necessitate a witch hunt, resembling a Russian Bolseh-

to benefit? I know buyers won t be paying any more for our grain when there are 50,000 of us selling wheat and barely on our own instead of through the Board. And since when is it excessive fear mongering to want producers to have our say?

Ritz is the one who s afraid, afraid of the way grain producers would vote if we were asking a clear question on how we want our grain to be sold: on the open market or through the single desk. Any delays caused by a producer vote would do a lot less to damage the Board s competitiveness (as if Ritz really cared about that), than the Harper government s pig-headed determination to have its way.

I get the feeling this group of foot-stomping, squawking, angry people won t stop dissemenating bad information until they get their way.

But I doubt if any of these people can hold a fire hose or acetyline torch or operate a grader. I also doubt if they can tell sandy gravel from concrete grade aggregate.

They seem to want new asphalt every year, and we re lucky to have dirt roads.

Prairie Spirit School Division finalizes support staff contracts Over 650 division employees to receive two per cent increases

The Prairie Spirit Board of Education recently signed two new contracts for support staff members in the school division.

The contracts are with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the NonUnion Support Staff in Prairie Spirit School Division. Both contracts cover support staff throughout the Division, including bus drivers, administrative assistants, educational associates, caretakers, maintenance workers, computer technical support staff, library support staff, ďŹ nance department staff and other administrative support staff in Division OfďŹ ce.

The contracts are retroactive to September 1, 2010 and in effect until August 31, 2012.

As a result of these new contracts, support staff in both of these employee groups will receive a two per cent wage in-

crease retroactive to September 1, 2010 as well as another two per cent increase effective September 1, 2011.

The contracts were negotiated using an interest-based approach, which helps both the employer and the employees to have a good understanding of the issues.

This approach continues to work well in our negotiation process, said Larry Pavloff, Board of Education Chair. The Board was very pleased to settle these contracts. Our support staff members throughout the Division are valued members of our team.

Our members are focused on doing the best job we can do for students as we provide a variety of invaluable services, said local CUPE president, Grace Wudrick. NonUnion representative, Tammy Weightman, said support staff members serve a vital role in the school division.

Support staff members are an important part of student learning in Prairie Spirit, she explained.

The CUPE contract covers 246 employees, while the Non-Union contract covers over 416 staff members.

hen Alex and Myrtle Milne got married in June of 1941, the Second World War was entering its darkest days.

Alex was in the army and his unit was stationed in Quebec, preparing to be shipped off to the front lines in Europe. The couple had gotten engaged a few months before, and Alex had hoped to get leave to return to his hometown of Kelvington, Saskatchewan for the wedding, but it wasn t forthcoming.

So his bride-to-be packed her bags, boarded a train at Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, and travelled across the country to Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec.

At the time, she didn t know if she d see her husband

the vows they made on that day in June, 1941 were for keeps, regardless of how long they were destined to be together.

I didn t know what the future would hold, but I was very happy when the war ended and he came back home to me, said Myrtle, who at 94 years of age, resides with her husband Alex at the Langham Senior Citizens Special Care Home.

When asked what the secret to a long marriage was: Myrtle replied: There is no secret.

Alex was a little more forthcoming: I never dared to keep any secrets from her, he said. She d have my head!

Both Alex and Myrtle were born in June, 1917. She was born and raised on a farm near Rose Valley, while he

They were married in June, 1941, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary during the July long weekend with 80 of their closest friends and relatives.

Alex said he made a nuisance of himself until Myrtle finally went out with him. We dated for two years, and then in 1941, I enlisted in the army, and we got engaged.

Alex said he wanted to just keep it as an engagement, because that way, if anything ever happened to me, she d still be free. But when Myrtle took sick several years ago, and was in and out of the hospital and care homes, Alex realized they would have to find a care home. The trouble was, it was hard to find one that would accommodate couples.

I got to thinking: maybe we better get into a home, he said. So I phoned quite a few care homes in Saskatoon, and some of them said they could take us, but not as a couple.

Others wouldn t take us at all.

Alex related the situation one day to his son Jim, who lives on an acreage at Grandora. Jim suggested they try the Langham care home.

When Jim and I came to Langham, I asked them if Myrtle and I could be together, and they said you will be together as long as you want to be , and I said: That s good enough for me. That was five years ago. Before that I never knew Langham existed.

Myrtle said they receive very good care at the home, and appreciate that they ve been able to live together as a couple.

We re still together, and that s the main thing, said Alex.

The new middle school in Warman is progressing according to plan and remains on schedule.

Board of Education Trustee for Warman, Sam Dyck, provided an update on the project at the Board s regular meeting on Monday, June 20. We ve received Ministry approval to go to tender for some of the building s substructure, so the groundwork for this project will be done sooner than we expected, he said. We are off to a good start there.

Prairie Spirit has submitted school designs to the Ministry of Education which are currently being reviewed and approved. The tendering process is expected to begin in late August, with construction to start this fall. The $21.5 million school facility is expected to be substantially completed by April or May, 2013, in order to allow time to move in furniture and prepare the school for students in August, 2013.

Currently, Warman Elementary School has Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 students, while Warman High School has Grades 6 through 12. At this point, the new middle school is

projected to open with over 600 students in Grades 4 through 8.

The new school will help to alleviate growing student enrolments in both of Warman s existing schools.

Kim Novak, the new school s ďŹ rst principal, will be working with the school project in a half-time capacity this fall, while he continues as an administrator at Venture Heights School in Martensville. He will be integrally involved in the project, attending regular construction and design meetings, conducting relevant research and visiting other school facilities to determine best practices. Novak is contributing to a Warman Middle School blog (found on the Division s homepage at www.spiritsd.ca) and invites interested parents to check the blog for updates and provide comments. Detailed design drawings of the school have just been posted.

The new school will be part of a joint-use facility with the Warman Sports and Cultural Village, currently under construction in the Town s north end. The new school will have access to the gym facilities in the sports complex as part of a joint-use agreement already signed between the Town and the school division.

The Delisle Diamond Dogs placed second in the 7-team tournament, which included three squads from Saskatoon and two from Prince Albert.

The Red Sox, made up of 11 and 12-year old players from Warman, Dalmeny, Hague, Duck Lake and Maymont, earned a 4-2 win over the Delisle Diamond Dogs in the hard-fought championship game on Sunday, July 2.

After round-robin play, the top four teams qualified for the semi-finals. All four teams had identical 3-1 records.

Delisle earned a spot in the final game by virtue of an 11-6 victory over Prince Albert Astros - Rock in the semi-final game that featured the second and third-place qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the first-place Sask Valley Red Sox edged out the fourth-place Prince Albert Astros-Preymack by a score of 9-8 to advance to the final.

The Saskatoon Phantoms, Saskatoon Raiders and Saskatoon Falcons also participated in the tournament.

In the championship game, the Red Sox jumped out to an early 1-0 nothing lead in

the first inning, and added another run in the top of the second with an inside-the-park home run by pitcher Tommy Miller. The Diamond Dogs got on the board in the bottom of the second when Damon Ryan stole home on a wild pitch.

The next three innings were scoreless thanks to a pitchers duel and solid defense by both teams. The Red

Sox added two more in the top of the 6th inning, and the Diamond Dogs replied with one more in the bottom of the 6th to make the score 4-2. No runs were scored in the 7th innning.

Esks ambush Riders in season opener at Mosaic Unacceptable .

That s what Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach Greg Marshall told his team after a jaw-dropping 42-28 seasonopening loss to the Edmonton Eskimos Sunday at Mosaic Stadium.

It was a wild, wild day from the get-go. It was a sizzling 32 degrees just before game time but after the teams warm-ups, the clouds rolled in and cut loose with a massive thunder shower. That turned into a hail storm which pelted the stadium with golf ball-sized pellets, delaying the game s opening kickoff.

Shortly thereafter the skies opened and a spectacular rainbow arched over Mosaic Stadium. However, there was no pot of gold at the end of it.

He characterized the squad as probably one of the best teams I ve ever coached, and said the youngsters have grown tremendously over the course of the season.

The Red Sox coaching staff also included Wade Harris of Maymont, Lyle Funk of Hague and Luke Beaulac of Warman.

We started the team last year, explained Kosmynka, noting the Red Sox came in third at last year s provinical tournament. Our team and the Delisle team both play in the Saskatoon Minor Softball League, and during the regular season we finished second behind Delisle.

Delisle Diamond Dogs coach Joel Durham said despite the loss in the final game, the coaching staff and parents are very proud of how well the squad performed.

They ve matured not just as ball players, but as young men, he said. At the beginning of the seaon, a lot of people questioned us going into the A category, because for some of these boys, this is their first season in minor ball.

Durham, a long-time player with the Delisle National Leasing Diamond Dogs of the Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association (SASA), coached many of the kids for two years in the Mites category, and this is his second year with the Squirts.

We had a few new guys this year, he explained. We have four kids from Vanscoy and one from Conquest, and they re all good athletes.

Durham said the team did well to make it to the final championship game. It was a close game, he said. In fact, the whole tournament was close.

Kosmynka said hosting the provincial tournament was a major step for minor softball in Warman.

This was a good test for our community, he said. We have been working hard to keep minor ball alive, so getting the provincials helps a lot. We applied for provincials at the end of last season.

Then, when they awarded us the tournament, we had to make sure we had a team. We actually lost a few kids, so we had to go out and find some more kids to field a team.

Kosmynka credited the parents of players from many teams for making the tournament a success. The parents really stepped up to theplate, he said. The Town of Warman helped out a lot with the beatuiful facilities here at Oasis Park, and even the weather cooperated.

Kosmynka said many former Senior A softball players have devoted lots of hours to coaching minor ball. Terry Wiebe, who s helping coach the Delisle Diamond Dogs, spent 6 years with Team Canada, he pointed out. He s retired and he s putting his passion for the game into coaching youngsters. It s great to see.

He also credited volunteer Leon Praznick, and sponsors Somerfeld Electric, Maple Leaf Foods and Direct Safety Solutions.

Martensville hosts Western Canadian Karting Championship

fter a very successful opening round in British Columbia, the 2011 Western Canadian Championship (WCC) traveled east to Martensville Speedway, host of the second round, located just north of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Once again the series welcomed a strong number of drivers in the main classes, with Rotax Senior topping the charts with 25 karts on the grid. A unique track provided plenty of on-track action for the drivers, but four names stood out at the end of the day. Garett Gulenchyn, Parker Thompson, Bryce Choquer, and Kyle Herder dominated the Rotax Mini-Max, Junior, Senior and DD2 classes by sweeping in their respective categories.

Overdrive Motorsports Rotax Senior With 25 karts entering the Rotax Senior class, many provinces were represented as the drivers hit the track. Leading the way was the Bryce Choquer, a multi-time representative of Team Canada at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, Choquer did his best to return to Team Canada by holding off a race long chase

The two quickly broke away in the 22-lap final around Martensville Speedway, but with both drivers making no mistakes, Choquer scored the victory. A great battle for third featured Dalton Kellett (Goodwood/Intrepid), Scott Campbell, Noel Dowler and Adam Isman. The quadrant traded the position throughout the final with Dowler taking the spot after Campbell and Kellett collided on the final lap.

GBR Kart Racing Rotax Junior The 2011 Gatorz Challenge of the America s Rotax Junior Champion Parker Thompson continued to enjoy his excellent season. Thompson has been on cruise control since arriving in Saskatoon, and has his closest competitors wondering if his is stoppable this weekend. Thompson easily grabbed the pole-position, drove away with pre-final, and

immediately pulled away in the final en route to another stunning victory. After bouncing around and working his way back to the front in pre-final, Matthew Moniz managed to stay at the front in the final, but just didn t have the pace to battle with Thompson, finishing second. Joining them on the podium was Zachary Scalzo (GBR/LH Kart).

Hole Shot Drive Systems Rotax Mini-Max Another driver displaying a dominating performance on Saturday in Saskatoon was Garrett Gulenchyn. The Manitoba pilot held off any challenge his competitors offered in Rotax Mini-Max en route to a five-second victory. Sara Brinkac and Nolan Vogel enjoyed a great battle for second place in the final, with Brinkac eventually taking the position at the finish.

Extreme Kart Engines Rotax DD2 Although there were only six go-karts in the Rotax DD2 race, and the passing was very minimal, the stats of the race were very impressive. In qualifying, Kyle Herder (GBR/LH Kart), Scott Campbell, Travis McDonald, Dalton Kellett (Goodwood/ Intrepid) and Daniel Burkett all posted times within the same tenth of a sec-

ond. While Kyle Herder led the way into turn one, and eventually to victory, all five drivers fastest laps of the race were within eleven-hundredths of the second. A towropes length behind Herder, Kellett would finish second with Macdonald completing the podium.

4 Stroke Senior With most drivers utilizing the new Briggs LO 206 option, the 4-Stroke Senior class had twenty karts on track. A great race up front witnessed Polesitter Sara McGregor, Matt Bantle and Neil Boyle trade the top position nearly every lap. The trio traded paint like a NASCAR race, with all three leading at different points in the race. With McGregor taking the lead with two laps to go, she was able to hold on and score the victory ahead of Boyle and Bantle.

In Apollo Motorsports Rotax Micro-Max, Griffin Dowler earned the win ahead of Marco Kacic (CRG West/CRG), and Carson Vogel. Stephan Bachalo controlled the Junior 1 final, leading the entire 12-lap final ahead of Jessica Dezell and Garrett Gulenchyn. Finally, Skylar Dunning held off John Buzza in a drag race to the finish in Junior 2, with Tristan Merke completing the podium.
