WILLS SURVEY

LETTER OF INTENT

A 'Wills" Survey is a great place to start with any in building an endowment and cultivating a culture of planned giving in your parish. The survey's purpose is to identify those parishioners who already have a charitable intent to leave your organization a gift from their will or estate plan. These can be sent out electronically or included in your bulletin.

A common tool used in any planned giving program is a "Donor Letter of Intent for a Future Estate Gift." This is a simple document, often called a pledge form, is not legally binding but records the expressed written intent of the donor(s) at the time they are making their estate plans.

The document allows donor(s) to indicate their planned giving intentions, making your organization aware of future gifts.

BEQUEST LANGUAGE This document provides the specific guidance for donors who wish to leave a gift to your organization's endowment fund. This document can be printed on your organization's letterhead and distributed along with mailings or brochures or as a standalone piece. It should be available in parish offices or upon request for parishioners.
