DEAR FRIENDS, Never has there been a more exciting time for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) than right now. When CCFA was founded in 1967, little was known or understood about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, the two diseases that fall under the inflammator y bowel disease (IBD) umbrella. Those who were diagnosed with these serious chronic digestive diseases had few resources for education or support. Most were uncomfortable discussing their condition, even with friends and family. Research funding was almost non-existent. Fast for ward nearly 50 years and we are on the brink of game-changing breakthroughs for our patients. Not ever y disease organization can make that claim – but we can! Better treatments and cures are not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’. In just the coming year we will be introducing a host of new and critical patient programs and supporting innovative research endeavors like our Quality of Care Program, IBD Plexus, Genetics and Microbiome Initiatives, and our Risk Pediatric program. You have helped make the introduction of these programs possible, and I know that all our patients and caregivers are so grateful. Today, we are one of the largest private funders of IBD research outside the federal government. Over the past 48 years, we have invested more than $250 million in research and training grants. We are careful stewards of the donations you have made. Eighty-three percent of all funds go directly toward research, education and patient/family support. For the fourth consecutive year, we received a 4 (out of 4) star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest rating a charity can receive for executing its mission in a fiscally responsible way. This is a distinction only eight percent of the charities evaluated have received. We also received the highest rating by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. We are proud of CCFA’s accomplishments, confident of the outstanding research that will lead to better treatments and cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and deeply grateful to each of you for your role in enabling us to fulfill our important mission. Thank you for your support and have a wonderful evening. Sincerely, Michael Osso, President & CEO

DEAR FRIENDS, On behalf of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s National Board of Trustees, it is my pleasure to welcome you to today’s event. As the father of a patient with an inflammator y bowel disease (IBD), I cannot be more proud of the work CCFA does to support the needs of our patients. CCFA supplies IBD patients and their loved ones with understandable and timely education; empowers them to make informed decisions; and provides them with tools to improve their quality of life. Over the past year, CCFA’s efforts to support the children and adults affected by IBD have grown exponentially, resulting in 600,000 patients and caregivers who benefited from our innovative patient education and support programs. Through the Ir win M. and Suzanne R. Rosenthal IBD Help Center, we respond to 13,000 requests for information about Crohn’s and colitis from patients and their loved ones, healthcare professionals, and the general public. We amplify our reach even more ever y year through our webcasts, in-person and online support groups, in-person education events, Camp Oasis, and social media chats. In addition to providing support and education, we advocate for public policy positions that accelerate progress toward curing and preventing IBD. We partner with the 76 members of the bipartisan Congressional Crohn’s & Colitis Caucus to secure research dollars and funding for programs that will assist our constituents. We bring patients and caregivers to Washington, D.C. for in-person legislative visits and provide them with tools to conduct similar visits in their home state. We also work with the next generation of advocates through our National Council of College Leaders, developing their leadership skills, including awareness building, education and fundraising. CCFA’s initiatives are designed to provide patients of all ages and their loved ones with crucial information to better manage their disease and make informed treatment decisions, while providing a supportive forum to share experiences and concerns, and connect with others like themselves. We are deeply grateful to each of you who are helping us fulfill our important mission of finding cures for IBD and improving the lives of children and adults living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Thank you for your support and have a wonderful evening. Sincerely, Vance Gibbs Chair, National Board of Trustees

NANCY LAMOTT (1951-1995)
was a cabaret singer and recording ar tist whose unadorned, heartfelt interpretations of songs epitomized the best of an all-American style of traditional pop singing. In the two years before her death of uterine cancer, Nancy achieved a national reputation, and her CDs received critical acclaim. She sang at the Clinton White House twice and still remains a favorite of lovers of jazz and the American popular song. Nancy sang regularly on “Regis & Kathie Lee,” “Charles Grodin” and “Good Morning America,” and in 1994 started to play some of the finest rooms in New York, including the Oak Room of the Algonquin and Tavern on the Green. Additionally, New York Magazine voted her “Best Cabaret Singer” in their “Best of New York” issue. Other singers routinely heaped praised on her: Sylvia Syms said Nancy was “the best of her generation of singers;” Rosemar y Clooney said, “I love her singing and have for years.” Other champions of her work included Jonathan Schwartz, who routinely praised her and her recordings, and the cabaret reviewer for the New York Post, who said that “there is no more beautiful instrument than the voice of Nancy LaMott. She suffered greatly from Crohn’s disease from age 17, and in 1993 under went an ileostomy, which dramatically improved her condition.
NANCY LAMOTT “GOT GUTS” AWARD Nancy LaMott (1951-1995) was beloved and critically acclaimed cabaret and recording artist who was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 17. The Nancy LaMott “Gut Guts” Award was established in 2015 at the inaugural Broadway’s Got Guts event.

KUDOS TO DR. BAUER We have lived our lives side by side with Joel, Dad, Dr. Bauer and can personally attest to his unwavering dedication, his tireless and selfless commitment to his patients with Crohn’s and colitis. Recognizing the negative impact these diseases can have, he makes every effort possible to either cure the disease or at least relieve the pain and suffering it causes. In addition, he has devised and promoted several innovative operations, which further benefit all patients with Inflammatory Bowel disease. His involvement with the CCFA has been a point of his focus as well. He has been the Chairman of their Medical Advisory Board for many years and has spoken at many Educational Forums for patients to enhance their understanding of their disease and how to care for themselves once they leave the hospital.
