HEALTH, INJURY AND WELLNESS SNAPSHOT

WHERE WE STARTED

In 2016, Civil Contractors Federation SA and Return to Work SA launched a pilot reskilling program designed to provide safe, flexible and personalised programs to suit injured workers and their employer’s needs. This included training, skills maintenance, and work hardening. This program was designed not only to encourage and promote returning to work, but also to improve the physical and mental health of each client and employee while obtaining new skills and training.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SINCE?

Since 2016, CCF SA has worked with over 670 workers and provided over 19,700 work hardening hours! With the incredible success of the reskilling pilot program, CCF SA identified a need for further education, awareness, and support to our industry in not only mental health, but all aspects of health. In July 2021, CCF SA launched the Health, Injury and Wellness (HIW) service, dedicated to delivering innovative, dynamic, and flexible health, injury and wellness services, information, and products to a range of organisations, including their members and employees. CCF SA’s Healthy, Injury and Wellness services include the Return to Work Coordinator service, which aims to make the return-to-work process easy for employers and employees after a workplace injury. Combining industry expertise with innovative technology solutions, we ensure workers are returned to work efficiently, responsibly, and sustainably. CCF SA assists organisations of all sizes across the civil industry, with the Return to Work Coordinator service being fully scalable to meet your demands. CCF SA has partnered with Konekt Workcare, an organisation that helps Australians into work and maximises workforce participation and productivity, to provide a paid work experience program. This pilot program allows workers who have previously had or recovered from an injury to undertake work experience. Host employers are paid to provide the on-the-job training and/or experience.

THE FUTURE

CCF SA hopes to continue providing on-the-job support for employers and workers, as well as resources and connections to support people outside of the workplace and into the future. This year’s focus will also look at more bespoke training, and verifications of competency, not only for plant but also for site safety and excavation.

WE ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR NEW AND INNOVATIVE WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR INDUSTRY AND WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! PLEASE CONTACT OUR HEALTH, INJURY AND WELLNESS MANAGER, CRYSTAL MACKIE, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHAT!
