Jennifer Howard, Director of Summer Programs, began her training at Boston Ballet, complete exams under the direction of Mimi Ferrell and received her BFA from The Juilliard School.

Jennifer spent her extensive professional dance career between New York City and Europe, to of Mikhail Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project, Twyla Tharp Dance, Eliot Feld Ballet, Liz Ge TanzTheater, and as a freelance artist with acclaimed choreographers Lucinda Childs, Douglas Michelson.

The CCD Staff Kerry Healy, Administrator and Social Media, began her training at CCD when she was 4 years old. Following her graduation from CCD in 2015, Kerry attended Dominican University of California in the Bay Area, where she was a part of the Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA Program under Alonzo King and Marina Hotchkiss. She earned a BFA in Dance, graduating Magna Cum Laude with Honors in May 2019. While in San Francisco, Kerry worked with artists such as Gregory Dawson, Maurya Kerr, Christian Burns, Alice Klock, Alex Ketley, and Sidra Bell. Kerry’s choreography was performed at the LINES BFA Senior Project Performance and at CCD’s Summer Moving Project 2019. She attended summer intensives at San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and Henny Jurriëns Dance Center in Amsterdam, where she learned Ohad Naharin, Jirí Kylián, and Hofesh Shechter repertoire. After teaching over school breaks for the last few years, Kerry is happy to return home to CCD this year to be a part of the faculty! Photograph: Amanda Tipton Rachel Long, CCD Communications Coordinator, has been involved with CCD since 2004 – first, as a parent and volunteer, then as a staff member since the fall of 2014. Rachel has had the pleasure of volunteering as a member of the Fundraising Committee, Volunteer Committee, and leading numerous fundraisers and events such as Nutcracker Tea and Blossom Ball. Rachel and her husband, Billy, have two children who have passed through each level of CCD and danced as Studio Company members for many years. Rachel graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and currently brings her many years of volunteer work and knowledge of design with her to communicate CCD’s great work in the community and its fabulous school to our CCD families and the broader community. She trained under Maria Vegh (Harkness House NYC) as well as at the Joffrey Ballet and American Repertory Ballet before accepting an apprenticeship with the Colorado Ballet in 1998. Julia has also danced with David Taylor Dance Theater, Boulder Ballet, Apex Contemporary Ballet, and as a guest artist with Oklahoma City Ballet, but spent the majority of her career at Ballet Nouveau Colorado. She has had the pleasure to work with many contemporary choreographers including Garrett Ammon, Alex Ketley, Laurie Stallings, Amy Seiwert, Sarah Tallman, and Robert Mills. Julia has also created work for Ballet Nouveau Colorado, Industrial Project, and Dance Found. She recently retired from her performing career to spend more time with her growing family. Rachel Newbury, Community Education Coordinator, is a Colorado native who began her dance training at the age of 5 at Barbara Ellis Studio of Dance in Colorado Springs. She went on to further her training at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance. Throughout her college years, she had the privilege of performing at the American College Dance Festival, the Exchange Choreography Festival, RAW Arts Tulsa, and the eMerge Dance Festival. In 2012, Rachel traveled to Budapest, Hungary where she taught creative movement and ballet workshops in a number of schools across the country. Since moving to Denver in 2014, Rachel has danced with Soul 2 Sole Contemporary Dance Company, choreographed for a number of their shows, and served as the Director of their pre-professional company for two seasons. She also danced with Whitney Waugh Dance for two seasons, and had the opportunity to perform alongside Art as Action in their production of TENSION. Rachel is a firm believer in the power of dance to better one’s physical and emotional health, and is honored to be taking CCD’s mission out into the community. Photograph: Amanda Tipton


Marnie Ina Rundiks, CCD Conservatory Docent, a Denver Native admits that the arts, theater and especially ballet has moved her soul since childhood. Marnie has been involved with CCD since 2007 as a ballet mom, volunteer and now staff member. Not following a traditional path she has a BA in Classics from CU Boulder, managed a large catering company in Dallas, Texas, worked as both Food Service and Assistant Store Manager for Alfalfa’s / Wild Oats, as well as served as Director of English Robin Inc. an online language school. She is the proud mother of Inara and Bergen Wheeler, who are currently attending Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. As an off-the-charts ENFP, Marnie has a high social and emotional IQ, which she dedicates to the CCD dancers, families and community at large. Beyond that, she is the face of the ballet either behind the front desk, on the phone, or at events to assist, guide or help with a smile, empathy, humor and enthusiasm. Marnie believes that ballet can enhance lives and is devoted to the cause, envisioning CCD as an international ballet destination and training school. Photograph: Amanda Tipton Shizuka Sue Sakai, Costume Supervisor, has had the pleasure of helping Colorado Conservatory of Dance with costumes since 2006. She became the Studio Company’s Costume Supervisor in 2011. Since then, she has taken part in the costuming process for several Studio Company and student productions, including The Nutcracker; Summer Moving Project (2014 – 2017); Madeline Stands Tall and Hall of the Mountain King by Camcie Foster; Tale of a Wounded Apple by Maree ReMalia; It All Starts Somewhere by Sarah Jannsen; Ballet Blanc, Secret Garden, and The Boxcar Children by Julia Wilkinson Manley; and Bartok Dances by Mark Foehringer. She is the proud mother of Angela “Momo” and Nicholas Sakai. Photograph: Misha Photography Sean Watson, Conservatory Manager, began his dance training at 17 years old in Mukilteo, Washington. After 2 years of training, he attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle on scholarship, where he graduated cum laude with a BFA in Dance. Throughout his time at Cornish, Sean was also taking multiple classes at Westlake Dance Center, private lessons, as well as attending summer intensive programs at American Ballet Theater, Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, Ballet Austin, and Milwaukee Ballet. Upon graduation, Sean joined Milwaukee Ballet II where he performed with the main company in works by Michael Pink, Auguste Bournonville, Mark Godden, Kathy Posin, LeeWei Chau, and Petr Zahradnicek, as well as was featured in the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Degas Exhibit and It’s Artistic! Exhibit. Sean moved to Colorado to join Ballet Nouveau Colorado (now Wonderbound), where he was a featured dancer in original works by Garrett Ammon, Alex Ketley, Laurie Stallings, Mark Godden, Ma Cong, Sarah Tallman, David Barbour, Julia Meng, Julia Wilkinson Manley, and Jennifer Hart. He then danced for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as the Dance Captain for the Azamara Quest, where he travelled extensively throughout the Mediterranean. Sean has been teaching ballet throughout his performing career and beyond. He has been an instructor at CCD and Premiere School of Dance for nearly 8 years before moving to Hawaii and teaching ballet as a lecturer at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. He is also certified in the Progressing Ballet Technique method, and is a licensed massage therapist with his own practice working with dancers and people of all ages. The Choreographers... Shannon Alvis, from Greenwood, Indiana, received her training at Butler University, the University of Utah and her MFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She began her career with the second company of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, then going on to dance and perform professionally with HSDC for nine years. In 2009, joined Nederlands Dans Theater under the direction of Jim Vincent and Paul Lightfoot. During her time in Chicago and Europe, Shannon toured internationally dancing works by many world renowned choreographers such as: Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin, Jorma Elo, and Crystal Pite. She has appeared in productions at the Lyric Opera including Rob Ashford's Carousel, Susan Stroman's The Merry Widow, and Les Troyens with Helen Pickett. Shannon has been on faculty at the Joffrey Academy, Interlochen School for the Arts summer faculty, and Visceral Dance Center. She has choreographed for Visceral Dance Chicago, Thodos Dance Chicago, DanceWorks Chicago, The Big Muddy Dance Company in St. Louis, the University of Iowa, and was a recipient of the Joffrey Ballet’s Winning Work’s Choreographic Competition. David Barbour began his dance training in Colorado at Aurora Dance Arts. He continued his training at Denver Contemporary Dance, Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and at the Joffrey /New School BFA program under the tutelage of master teachers Rebecca Wright, Trinette Singleton, Eleanor D’Antuono, and David Howard. David danced professionally with Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Ballet Nouveau Colorado (now Wonderbound), and Onium Ballet Project. He has danced works by Septime Weber, Trey McIntyre, Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Garret Ammon, and Alex Ketley to name a few. David has taught and choreographed throughout the US, is currently teaching at Colorado Conservatory of Dance and remotely with Queen Emma Ballet in Hawaii. Prior to his return to Colorado he was also teaching at Honolulu Classical Ballet and Punahou School. Before moving to Hawaii he was the Associate Artistic Director of Colorado Conservatory of Dance. Carly Hambridge moved to Boulder in the Fall of 2017 to join Boulder Ballet. There, Carly’s classical repertoire has included the title role of Giselle, Clara in The Nutcracker, and Summer Fairy in Cinderella. Before joining Boulder Ballet, Carly danced with companies across the country including BalletMet, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Carly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Pedagogy with departmental honors from Butler University, where she began teaching during her sophomore year. Upon graduation in 2014, Carly had the opportunity to teach at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, BalletMet Academy, Longmont Dance Theatre Academy/Centennial State Ballet, and Boulder Ballet School. She enjoys teaching all age groups from Dance With Me classes to Beginning Pointe and Advanced Ballet.


Chris Harris, CCD Choreology Festival Creative Director, has been choreographing and dancing in Denver for over three decades. She is a choreographer, artistic director, visual artist, dancer, and teacher with interests in math, science, data visualization, and has a fascination with how we understand arts, dance and the psychology of performance. Chris holds a BFA in Dance and Choreography from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College. She has taught at many studios; choreographed for local theaters and dance companies; been a guest lecturer at The Arts Institute of Colorado and CSU; been adjunct faculty at and choreographed for the University of Denver and the University of Colorado. Previously she was artist in residence for the Denver School of the Arts for 17 years, Co-director of the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop, and Artistic Director/Choreographer for Louder Than Words Dancetheater & the Colorado Youth Dance Theater in Denver. Kerry Healy began her training at CCD when she was 4 years old. Roger C. Jeffrey was born and raised in New York City where he began his training at Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center in Jamaica, Queens. A graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts, he received his B.F.A. from The Juilliard School under the direction of Benjamin Harkarvy. Mr. Jeffrey has performed in the companies of Bernice Johnson, Kevin Iega Jeff, Obediah Wright, Earl Mosley, Zvi Gotheiner, Twyla Tharp, Lar Lubovitch, Metropolitan Opera Ballet and with Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project. He has also worked with Dudley Williams, Debbie Allen, Danny Tidwell, Sean Curran, Doug Varone, Richard Move and Mark Dendy. In 1997, Mr. Jeffrey founded Subtle Changes, Inc., a nonprofit artist collective committed to the presentation, development, and exposure of the arts. The company has presented work for Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, Central Park SummerStage Harlem, and Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out among others. Mr. Jeffrey is currently a Professor of Dance and Coordinator for Advocacy and Inclusion at George Mason University School of Dance. Rosalynde LeBlanc has spent over twenty-years in dance as a performer, choreographer and educator. She holds a BFA from the State University of New York at Purchase, an MFA from Hollins University and is currently on faculty at Loyola Marymount University. She was a member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Mikhail Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project, and the Liz Gerring Dance Company. She has had her writing published in the leading international dance periodicals, Dance Magazine and Ballettanz, and her choreography presented in venues around the country. She continues her work with Bill T. Jones in the preservation of his legacy and pedagogy, most notably, directing the LMU Dance-Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Educational Partnership. She also produced and co-directed, with acclaimed cinematographer Tom Hurwitz, the documentary film, Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters. The film was awarded an Arts and Cultural Heritage grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Graves Award in the Humanities, as well as funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Ford Foundation.


Choreographers, continu John McFall began his ballet studies at the Conservatory of Music with Tatiana Dokoudovska. In the Fall of 1964, he accepted a Ford Foundation scholarship with the San Francisco Ballet School, and, in the following year, became a member of the San Francisco Ballet, performing under the direction of Lew Christensen and Michael Smuin. During his 18 years with the company, McFall rose to prominence as a dancer, becoming a principal in 1969. In 1986, he became artistic director of BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio and in 1994, McFall joined the Atlanta Ballet as the Company’s artistic director. McFall is also recognized in the field of choreography and has created works for the National Ballet of Canada, American Ballet Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem, San Francisco Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Co., and the Atlanta Ballet, among others. He has created choreography for such notable artists as Mikhail Baryshnikov and Cynthia Gregory. McFall has received three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships — in 1978, 1980, and 1985. Tilman O’Donnell received his training at the National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. He joined The Göteborg Ballet in 2001 Staatstheater Saarbrücken (2002) Cullberg Ballet (2003-2007) The Forsythe Company (2007-2012, guest artist 2012- 2015). Tilman made his debut as a choreographer in 2002 with Del A, receiving first prize in two major international choreographic competitions. In 2005 he was nominated both ”Dancer To Watch” and ”Choreographer To Watch” by the magazine Ballet Tanz, and as “Hoffnungsträger” in 2015 by the same publication. He has made works for Cullberg Baletten, SPIRA Jönköping/Cullberg To Come, Staatstheater Graz, The Göteborgs Operans Danskompani, University of Dance Stockholm, Corpus/Royal Danish Ballet, and The Danish University of Dance.

Rachel Oliver Young is the Education Director of the Classical and Contemporary Pre-Professional Dance Program at Denver School of the Arts, and a certified teacher through the Colorado Department of Education. Rachel holds an MFA in Dance, as an Arts and Sciences Fellow at CU-Boulder, and a BS in Dance and Biochemistry from Beloit College, having graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Rachel is an American Ballet Theatre® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Rachel has performed professionally across the country as a freelance dancer and a company member. Rachel’s choreographic work has been commissioned by Bare Bait Dance Company, Centennial State Ballet, and West Virginia Dance Company, sponsored by the Atlas Black Box Experimental Studio in Boulder, CO and selected for performance at WestFest Dance in New York and Performática in México, and presented at the University of Iowa, WV Wesleyan University, the Philly Live Arts & Fringe (PA), Dixon Place (NY) and Triskelion Arts (NY), as well as other locations across the country.


ued... Dominic Walsh was born in Elgin, Illinois and started his training with Lisa Boehm, Frank Boehm, Warren Conover, and Larry Long in Chicago. He joined Houston Ballet in 1989, and was promoted to Principal Dancer by 1996. Walsh danced throughout Asia, Europe, and North America and performed all the major classics including Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, Romeo & Juliet, and Manon with international stars such as Nina Ananiashvili and Alessandra Ferri. Walsh danced Houston Ballet’s entire contemporary repertoire, and Ben Stevenson created numerous roles for him including Marc Antony in Cleopatra. In 1998, Walsh created Flames of Eros on Houston Ballet. This work won the Choo-San Goh Award for Choreography. He created three more works for Houston Ballet. In 2002, while still a Principal Dancer and Choreographer with the Company, he founded Dominic Walsh Dance Theater. After the company’s debut in February 2003, Dance Magazine declared, “At last Houston has a contemporary dance company on par with its symphony, opera and ballet companies.” The company’s roster included works by Walsh, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, Mauro Bigonzetti, and Matthew Bourne. In 2004, Walsh left to pursue Dominic Walsh Dance Theater full-time. He won a second Choo-San Goh Award in 2007 and received a 2008 Princess Grace Award, both for The Trilogy and Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart. In 2012, he was inducted into the Fox Valley Hall of Fame. Walsh continues to receive commissions to set and create works nationally and internationally. He served as the Resident Choreographer for Sarasota Ballet of Florida, creating/staging Wolfgang for Webb (2008), The Trilogy (2009), Time out of Line (2011), and Claire de Lune(2011). In addition to his travels throughout the U.S. and abroad, he is a guest teacher and coach for both companies and academies and stages the works of his longtime mentor, Ben Stevenson. The Carl Jung Center has shown interest in Walsh’s creative process and he has given lectures at Houston’s Jung Center. He has written for various publications on dance, and was a regular columnist for Origin Magazine. Walsh made his film debut as a co-director at the Brussels Short Film Festival in Spring 2015 with Malta Kano, TX. That same year, he became a proud father and closed DWDT after 12 seasons. Walsh made his debut as Costume Designer for Stevenson’s Cinderella with the National Ballet of China. Walsh danced throughout Asia, Europe, and North America and performed all the major classics including Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, Romeo & Juliet, and Manon with international stars such as Nina Ananiashvili and Alessandra Ferri. Walsh danced Houston Ballet’s entire contemporary repertoire, and Ben Stevenson created numerous roles for him including Marc Antony in Cleopatra.
