Thoughts from Executive Direc Do you remember the “two week” lockdown that started in midMarch, 2020? As I write this and reflect, all I can think is this: what a long, strange, two weeks it’s been over the past 15 months. I offer this somewhat glibly, but it’s true—what started as a wave of uncertainty and, frankly, panic has morphed over the last year into one of overcoming obstacles through sheer tenacity and force of will. And I’m not speaking specifically of CCD here, but of all of us.

And as we start to see signs of hope—vaccination rates increasing, restrictions lifting—I can’t help but find myself deeply grateful to a number of people for their steadfast support of our little “nonprofit that could” as we’ve tried so hard to keep the doors open, and keep people dancing, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

First, I have to thank the remarkable faculty of CCD. Asked to do nothing short of radically reinventing their teaching methods with less than a week’s notice, not only have you risen to the challenge but in the process become leaders in the rapidly-developing world of videoconference dance instruction. At times, you have taught from your living rooms to students in multiple CCD studios simultaneously (thanks, teaching assistants!) while also monitoring dancers from multiple living rooms of their own—while still providing the individual attention to dancer development, creativity, body positivity, and technique that make you among the finest group of instructors in the country.

It also has to be said that the technology that has made our shift to online and hybrid delivery possible—thereby protecting the entire organization from possible collapse—was made possible by another group of people who deserve our most profound gratitude—our CCD community of families. Time and time again over the years, but especially in 2020, you stepped up and asked, “how can we help?”

And time and time again, not only did you offer your time, energy, and resources, but your moral and emotional support for the organization while coping with your own challenges at home and at work. It’s no stretch to say that we’d all be lost without you.

Sometimes, I have to admit that because they’re grown and selfsufficient, we take our adult dancers for granted—and for that I apologize, because you too have demonstrated your passion for CCD over the course of the pandemic. You have been patient, innovative, and supportive beyond all measure, and you’ve reminded us how important dance is in your lives. In doing so, you’ve also reminded us of the immeasurable value of dance to our mental and emotional health, and that has given us strength to keep striving to fulfill our

m the ctor mission no matter the challenges we face. I thank you for working with us, for motivating us, and for sticking with us through thick and thin.

To our younger students, I can’t possibly thank you enough. You have provided us with such incredible inspiration over the past year as you’ve seamlessly bounced back and forth between the CCD facility and your own amazing home studios.

Whether you’re two years old in “Dance with Me” or 18 in Studio Company, you’ve shown the adults in the room just how to handle the challenge of a lifetime, and believe me when I say that it is we who have looked to you to guide the way with grace, with dignity, and with class.

What also drives us—in virtually every conversation—is continuing to provide access to anyone who would dream to have dance as part of their lives. With this in mind, we embarked on an important journey in summer 2020 to explore the fabric of the organization through the lens of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusiveness—not to politicize the environment at CCD, but to be sure that we were modeling basic values of fairness, tolerance, and human rights in all our activities.

Nearly a year later, I want to thank our intrepid JEDI committee for your work in this important area. Composed of faculty, staff, board members, and even younger students, your commitment to helping make CCD an even more welcoming environment has empowered bold thinking and strategy and is already helping us live our creed— we believe in a better life through dance.

I’d of course be remiss if I didn’t also thank the CCD staff for your perseverance, dedication, creativity, and thoughtfulness over these long weeks and months. Asked to figure out a way to pivot completely into online instruction in only 96 hours, you made it happen. Never complaining, never second-guessing, you simply took onto your shoulders the very future of the organization and jumped far out of your comfort zones simply to

ensure that dance remained a fixture of our lives.

You knew just how important it would become to maintain the CCD community’s connections to one another, and from answering the phones to respond to questions of all kinds; crafting newsletters keeping people informed of ongoing changes; developing industry-leading health and safety protocols; or reworking the class & rehearsal schedule dozens upon dozens of times—your indefatigable efforts will always be remembered as having kept the organization afloat during an unparalleled existential threat.

Finally, I’d just like to thank YOU. Whether you’re someone in one of the above groups of folks or not, you’ve chosen to support CCD, to invest in creativity and artistry, and to take some of your own precious time to join us for one of our spring performances. Sure, we look forward to getting back on stage (possibly as soon as this summer!), but we’ve also been simply blown away by the attendance at our virtual events. I thank you all for your patronage and look forward to seeing you in person soon.

Oh…and as the chief development officer, I’d also be missing an opportunity to invite you to attend our second virtual Blossom Ball gala fundraiser from 7:00-8:00 on June 4, where we’ll seek to raise $50,000 to offset revenue losses over the course of the pandemic and continue to offer increased scholarship awards to families whose financial situations have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Richard R. Cowden, CCD Executive Director, is the former Director of the Arts at Vermont’s Castleton U to coordinate and teach in the online Master of Arts in Arts Administration program he founded in 201 oversaw the departments of art, music, and theatre, while also serving as director of the campus’s fine advocate for the arts as tools for civic engagement and activism, he forged a unique partnership with R Paramount Theatre which sparked unprecedented collaboration between the two institutions and culm Celebrating the American Experience,” a 20-event series of arts, culture, and civic events framed aroun the 240th year since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Featured guests included luminar Matalin and James Carville, the United States Army Brass Quintet, and renowned pundits such as David Times.

Prior to his service at Castleton, Richard was the Associate Artistic Director of Denver’s Edge Theatre C world premiere of Jonson Kuhn’s NEWARK VIOLENTA and received a Broadway World award as Best Di regional premiere of BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO. The CCD Staff Jennifer Howard, Director of Summer Programs, began her training at Boston Ballet, completed her Royal Academy of Dance exams under the direction of Mimi Ferrell and received her BFA from The Juilliard School.

Jennifer spent her extensive professional dance career between New York City and Europe, touring and performing as a member of Mikhail Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project, Twyla Tharp Dance, Eliot Feld Ballet, Liz Gerring Dance, and Unterwegs TanzTheater, and as a freelance artist with acclaimed choreographers Lucinda Childs, Douglas Dunn, Lar Lubovitch, and Sarah Michelson.

Jennifer has been a guest teacher for NextGeneration Ballet, Burklyn Ballet Theater, Dartmouth College, Wesleyan University and taught for Jacques D’Amboise’s National Dance Institute in New York City. Most recently, before joining the Colorado Conservatory of Dance faculty, Jennifer was the Artistic Director of the St. Paul’s School Ballet Company in Concord, NH. Photograph: Amanda Tipton Rachel Long, CCD Communications Coordinator, has been involved with CCD since 2004 – first, as a parent and volunteer, then as a staff member since the fall of 2014. Rachel has had the pleasure of volunteering as a member of the Fundraising Committee, Volunteer Committee, and leading numerous fundraisers and events such as Nutcracker Tea and Blossom Ball. Rachel and her husband, Billy, have two children who have passed through each level of CCD and danced as Studio Company members for many years. Rachel graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and currently brings her many years of volunteer work and knowledge of design with her to communicate CCD’s great work in the community and its fabulous school to our CCD families and the broader community. Photograph: Misha Photography Julia Meng, CCD Controller & Rehearsal Director, was born and raised in California. She trained under Maria Vegh (Harkness House NYC) as well as at the Joffrey Ballet and American Repertory Ballet before accepting an apprenticeship with the Colorado Ballet in 1998. Julia has also danced with David Taylor Dance Theater, Boulder Ballet, Apex Contemporary Ballet, and as a guest artist with Oklahoma City Ballet, but spent the majority of her career at Ballet Nouveau Colorado. She has had the pleasure to work with many contemporary choreographers including Garrett Ammon, Alex Ketley, Laurie Stallings, Amy Seiwert, Sarah Tallman, and Robert Mills. Julia has also created work for Ballet Nouveau Colorado, Industrial Project, and Dance Found. She recently retired from her performing career to spend more time with her growing family.

Photograph: Lisa Conway Rachel Newbury, Community Education Coordinator, is a Colorado native who began her dance training at the age of 5 at Barbara Ellis Studio of Dance in Colorado Springs. She went on to further her training at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance. Throughout her college years, she had the privilege of performing at the American College Dance Festival, the Exchange Choreography Festival, RAW Arts Tulsa, and the eMerge Dance Festival. In 2012, Rachel traveled to Budapest, Hungary where she taught creative movement and ballet workshops in a number of schools across the country.

Since moving to Denver in 2014, Rachel has danced with Soul 2 Sole Contemporary Dance Company, choreographed for a number of their shows, and served as the Director of their pre-professional company for two seasons. She also danced with Whitney Waugh Dance for two seasons, and had the opportunity to perform alongside Art as Action in their production of TENSION. Marnie Ina Rundiks, CCD Conservatory Docent, a Denver Native admits that the arts, theater and especially ballet has moved her soul since childhood.

Marnie has been involved with CCD since 2007 as a ballet mom, volunteer and now staff member. Not following a traditional path she has a BA in Classics from CU Boulder, managed a large catering company in Dallas, Texas, worked as both Food Service and Assistant Store Manager for Alfalfa’s / Wild Oats, as well as served as Director of English Robin Inc. an online language school. She is the proud mother of Inara and Bergen Wheeler, who are currently attending Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. As an off-the-charts ENFP, Marnie has a high social and emotional IQ, which she dedicates to the CCD dancers, families and community at large. Beyond that, she is the face of the ballet either behind the front desk, on the phone, or at events to assist, guide or help with a smile, empathy, humor and enthusiasm. Marnie believes that ballet can enhance lives and is devoted to the cause, envisioning CCD as an international ballet destination and training school. Photograph: Amanda Tipton Shizuka Sue Sakai, Costume Supervisor, has had the pleasure of helping Colorado Conservatory of Dance with costumes since 2006. She became the Studio Company’s Costume Supervisor in 2011. Since then, she has taken part in the costuming process for several Studio Company and student productions, including The Nutcracker; Summer Moving Project (2014 – 2017); Madeline Stands Tall and Hall of the Mountain King by Camcie Foster; Tale of a Wounded Apple by Maree ReMalia; It All Starts Somewhere by Sarah Jannsen; Ballet Blanc, Secret Garden, and The Boxcar Children by Julia Wilkinson Manley; and Bartok Dances by Mark Foehringer. She is the proud mother of Angela “Momo” and Nicholas Sakai.

Photograph: Misha Photography Sean Watson, Conservatory Manager, began his dance training at 17 years old in Mukilteo, Washington. After 2 years of training, he attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle on scholarship, where he graduated cum laude with a BFA in Dance. Throughout his time at Cornish, Sean was also taking multiple classes at Westlake Dance Center, private lessons, as well as attending summer intensive programs at American Ballet Theater, Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, Ballet Austin, and Milwaukee Ballet. Upon graduation, Sean joined Milwaukee Ballet II where he performed with the main company in works by Michael Pink, Auguste Bournonville, Mark Godden, Kathy Posin, LeeWei Chau, and Petr Zahradnicek, as well as was featured in the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Degas Exhibit and It’s Artistic! Exhibit. Sean moved to Colorado to join Ballet Nouveau Colorado (now Wonderbound), where he was a featured dancer in original works by Garrett Ammon, Alex Ketley, Laurie Stallings, Mark Godden, Ma Cong, Sarah Tallman, David Barbour, Julia Meng, Julia Wilkinson Manley, and Jennifer Hart. He then danced for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as the Dance Captain for the Azamara Quest, where he travelled extensively throughout the Mediterranean.

Sean has been teaching ballet throughout his performing career and beyond. He has been an instructor at CCD and Premiere School of Dance for nearly 8 years before moving to Hawaii and teaching ballet as a lecturer at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. He is also certified in the Progressing Ballet Technique method, and is a licensed massage therapist with his own practice working with dancers and people of all ages.

Sean is very happy to be back in Colorado as the Conservatory Manager and to teach for his CCD ‘ohana.

Kerry Healy, Administrator and Social Media, began her training at CCD when she was 4 years old. Following her graduation from CCD in 2015, Kerry attended Dominican University of California in the Bay Area, where she was a part of the Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA Program under Alonzo King and Marina Hotchkiss. She earned a BFA in Dance, graduating Magna Cum Laude with Honors in May 2019. While in San Francisco, Kerry worked with artists such as Gregory Dawson, Maurya Kerr, Christian Burns, Alice Klock, Alex Ketley, and Sidra Bell. Kerry’s choreography was performed at the LINES BFA Senior Project Performance and at CCD’s Summer Moving Project 2019.

She attended summer intensives at San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and Henny Jurriëns Dance Center in Amsterdam, where she learned Ohad Naharin, Jirí Kylián, and Hofesh Shechter repertoire. After teaching over school breaks for the last few years, Kerry is happy to return home to CCD this year to be a part of the faculty!

The Choreographers...

Tilman O’Donnell (German/U.S.) received his training at the National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. He joined The Göteborg Ballet in 2001 Staatstheater Saarbrücken (2002) Cullberg Ballet (2003-2007) The Forsythe Company (2007-2012, guest artist 2012- 2015). He has been freelancing as a choreographer, dancer and teacher since 2010.

Tilman made his debut as a choreographer in 2002 with Del A, receiving first prize in two major international choreographic competitions. In 2005 he was nominated both ”Dancer To Watch” and ”Choreographer To Watch” by the magazine Ballet Tanz, and as “Hoffnungsträger” in 2015 by the same publication. In 2017 he was once again named “Dancer to Watch” for Whatever Singularity #453.

He has made works for Cullberg, SPIRA Jönköping/Cullberg To Come, Staatstheater Graz, The Göteborgs Operans Danskompani, University of Dance Stockholm, Corpus, The Danish University of Dance, Weld Theater Stockholm, as well as producing his own works. Recent works include: This Is (2010), August did not have what is commonly considered good taste as far as furniture is concerned.. (2012) The Disambiguation Project (2013), Whatever Singularity #453: Solo For Maxime / Dancing With Alain (2014), In Life & Love & So On (2015), These & Those & Upon Us (2016) In Some Sense (2016-2018 with Mikkel Ploug), Corpus Dogme: On The One Hand (2019) & History Was Written By The Losers: Hoedown / Showdown (2020).

In 2021 a new work, The View From Here will be premiered with Skånes Dansteater and tour in Sweden.

In 2022, the work OnBach (working title) will be presented by Dansens Hus, Stockholm.

His work has been presented among others by Radial System (Berlin), Theater Der Welt (Düsseldorf), Festspielhaus Hellerau (Dresden), Kampnagel (Hamburg), Dansens Hus (Stockholm), and Weld (Stockholm).

In recent years he has worked as a dancer in projects by Fabrice Mazliah (In Act & Thought, The Manufactured Series #2: Made in China, Telling Stories) Deborah Hay (Solo Commissioning Project, Figure A Sea, Animals On The Beach) and Laurent Chetouene (Duett Für Hörende Körper) and toured internationally with these works. Most recently, he has collaborated with William Forsythe on the exhibition format Acquisition Körperschaft, opened at the Folkwang Musuem in Essen, Germany.

From 2015 - 2018 Tilman was a member of the multidisciplinary artist group HOOD as part of a fellowship program at PACT Zollverein, Essen, Germany. In addition, Tilman was a SITE Stipendium holder in 2019 & 2020.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia Cameron Terry is an emerging choreographer making his way through the dance world.

Beginning his dance training at the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA), he quickly found his passion for choreography. Not one to be boxed into one style, Cameron pulls from his studies at The Ailey School, Nashville Ballet, Luigi, Giordano, and West African Dance. He has created a diverse repertoire of choreography at just a young age. Terry blends the technical demands of classical ballet, with the sharp lines of the Lester Horton technique and the freedom and groove of West African dance to create his own hybrid style. During his time at the University of Oklahoma (OU), he staged a total of twelve works while at the OU School of Dance.

Cameron has set work for OU’s Young Choreographer’s Showcase, American College Dance Association, and his own independently produced shows. Terry’s choreography received the “Outstanding Student Choreography Award” at the Regional High School Dance Festival in 2017. This paved the way for his professional debut with a choreographic residency with the students of Fort Wayne Ballet in 2018. Cameron will receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance Performance in 2021. Cameron founded Shades Dance Theater (Shades) in the fall of 2020. He created Shades to be a place where dancers from many different walks of life can come together, to participate in innovative storytelling that speaks to humanity. Cameron currently serves as Executive-Artistic Director of Shades Dance Theater.

Caili has choreographed for BalletX, konverjdans, Columbia Ballet Collaborative, DanceWorks Chicago’s ChoreoLab, CelloPointe, and St. Paul’s School. While with BalletX, she performed new works by Matthew Neenan, Nicolo Fonte, Gabrielle Lamb, Penny Saunders, and Trey McIntyre and danced at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Vail Dance Festival, Central Park SummerStage, Belgrade Dance Festival, the Joyce Theater, and the Kennedy Center during DEMO by Damian Woetzel. Her duet Fancy Me was performed at the Vail Dance Festival in 2018, and in the summer of 2019, Caili served as an Artistic Partnership Initiative Fellow at The Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU. She subsequently choreographed and edited a short dance film 100 Days, a virtual commission for The Guggenheim’s Works & Process. Before retiring from BalletX in Summer 2020, she virtually choreographed Love letter, a dance film inspired by Guam’s culture for BalletX’s virtual platform, BalletX Beyond. Caili is currently an Adjunct Instructor of Ballet at DeSales University.

Dominic Walsh was born in Elgin, Illinois and started his training with Lisa Bo ed to Principal Dancer by 1996. Walsh danced throughout Asia, Europe, and N Manon with international stars such as Nina Ananiashvili and Alessandra Ferr him including Marc Antony in Cleopatra.

Company Biographies Andrew Adams is a 16-year-old sophomore at Jefferson Academy in Broomfield, Colorado. Andrew has been dancing for 13 years. He has danced in six productions of The Nutcracker, in roles including Fritz, Lead Chinese, Solder Doll, The Nutcracker Prince and Snake Charmer. Andrew has been a member of Colorado Conservatory of Dance’s Studio Company for three years. He has had the pleasure of dancing roles choreographed

by Vadim Fedotov, Robert Mills, Dominic Walsh, Caili Quan, Cameron Terry, and Tilman O’Donnell. Andrew adores his people at CCD and really misses the studio being open and performing live. He hopes to be a professional dancer after high school.

Brianna Baye is 16-years-old and is currently in her junior year at Broomfield High School, where she enjoys attending Anatomy and Language Arts classes. Brianna is a member of the German Honor Society at her school and is hoping to earn the Seal of Biliteracy in German. She has been studying with Colorado Conservatory of Dance for 13 years, and this is her third year of dancing with CCD’s Studio Company. Brianna has been a part of CCD’s performance of The Nutcracker for five years, dancing roles such as Party Boy, Soldier, Bon Bon, Mouse, Sheep, and Harlequin Doll. She has performed in works by Julia Wilkinson Manley, Robert Mills, Amelie Klemmt, and many others. She is looking forward to attending her first Summer Intensive at Oregon Ballet Theater this summer. She aspires to be a certified physical therapist and professional dancer. Besides dance, she also enjoys reading, writing poetry, playing her ukulele, and listening to music.

Madelyn Blanchard is a 16-year-old junior at Colorado Early Colleges High School. She has been a member of Studio Company with Colorado Conservatory of Dance for two years. Studio Company has afforded Madelyn the opportunity to perform in a variety of pieces, work with amazing choreographers, and continue to develop her skills as a dancer.

Madelyn has performed as a Swan in The Ugly Duckling, Violet in Crayon Box and a Party Mom, Lead Snow, Lead Spanish, and Flower in The Nutcracker. In addition to dance, Madelyn enjoys spending time in the mountains, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Gabriella Mbagoyi is a 13-year-old in her freshman year at Boulder High School, where she is currently enrolled in many advanced classes and holds a 4.3 GPA. She has earned an academic letter for each quarter so far. Her favorite subject is science. Gabriella has been a student at Colorado Conservatory of Dance for four and a half years. This is her second year in Studio Company, in which she has had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Dominic Walsh, Julia Wilkinson Manley, Michael Hinton, Cameron Terry, and Robert Mills. At CCD, Gabriella has participated in four productions of The Nutcracker, and has danced the roles of Party Girl, Baby Sheep, Bon Bon, Chinese, Soldier, Dragonfly, Angel and Snow. Outside of dance, Gabriella participates in Girlscouts of America and recently completed her Girl Scout Silver Award by sewing 50 dresses for kids in need.

Leilani Montoya is a 17-year-old junior at Branson School Online with a GPA of 4.0. She has been studying dance at Colorado Conservatory of Dance for nine years, and this is her fifth year in Studio Company. She is honored to have the experience of being taught by wonderful teachers, dancing with outstanding students, and working with amazing choreographers. She has enjoyed being a part of anti-bullying performances such as Madeline Stands Tall, The Ugly Duckling, and the more recent Crayon Box choreographed

by Michael Hinton. This year was Leilani's eighth year performing in CCD's yearly production of The Nutcracker. She has performed roles such as Lead Chinese, Clara, and Dewdrop. She has also had the privilege of performing in past Studio Company productions, including 25th Silver Anniversary Spectacular, Tales en Pointe, and Aurora's Wedding. She was also grateful to have worked with Cameron Terry, Caili Quan, Tillman O’Donnell, and Dominic Walsh for this year's Studio Company performance. Outside of dance, Leilani enjoys crocheting, drawing, and spending time with her family. She would like to have a career in dance someday and is ecstatically looking forward to another year at CCD!

Franziska (Siska) Nagle is a 14-year old homeschool student. She has been dancing at Colorado Conservatory of Dance for nine years, and this is her first year in Studio Company.

She has performed in four productions of CCD’s The Nutcracker. In The Nutcracker, Siska has danced the roles of Party Girl, Little Angel, Chinese, and Dragon, Soldier, Angel, and Baby Sheep. Siska has really enjoyed her first year in Studio Company, and has learned so much from her fellow dancers, the CCD staff, and the exquisite guest choreographers. In her spare time, Siska loves to read, write, and enjoy nature.

Austin Price is an 18-year-old senior at Pomona High School. She has a 4.0 GPA and has lettered in both academics and advanced journalism all four years. She has also written for the school newspaper throughout high school, and this past year was the Editor-in-Chief.

Austin began her training at Colorado Conservatory of Dance when she was six years old.

She has been a part of CCD’s Studio Company for five years, three of which she has been a Studio Company Representative. She is currently a dancer in the Pre-Professional Program.

She has worked with choreographers including Maree ReMalia, Alex Ketley, John McFall, Sarah Hillmer, Dominic Walsh, Tilman O'Donnell, Caili Quan, and Julia Wilkinson Manley.

At CCD, she has performed several lead roles, including Madeline in Madeline Stands Tall, the Lilac Fairy in Aurora’s Wedding, and the Duck in Peter and the Wolf. She has also performed soloist roles in CCD's The Nutcracker, including Arabian, Mirliton, Rat King, Snow and Lead Flower. Austin has attended CCD’s Advanced Summer Intensive for five years and has performed in CCD’s annual Summer Moving Project for four years. This past summer, she attended CCD’s Movement Lab where she worked with many world-renowned choreographers, in addition to creating work and films of her own. Austin has created works for CCD’s Young Choreographer’s Showcase. This fall marked Austin’s first year teaching as an Apprentice Faculty Member, and she looks forward to many more years of dancing and teaching with CCD to come.

Lauren Rodriguez is a 13-year-old 7th grader at Aspen Ridge Preparatory School, where she enjoys biology and is a member of the National Junior Honors Society. This is Lauren's 11th year dancing at Colorado Conservatory of Dance, and this is her second year in Studio Company. As part of Studio Company, Lauren has danced in productions of Robert Mills’ The Ugly Duckling and Michael Hinton's Crayon Box. She has also performed in the 2019 Studio Company production of Aurora’s Wedding. Lauren has performed in six productions of The Nutcracker at CCD, dancing in a variety of roles such as Snow, Dragonfly, Party Girl, Party Boy, Baby Mouse, Angel, Soldier, Bon Bon, Baby Sheep and Chinese. Lauren has participated in CCD's Summer Intensive program for several years, and for the past two years, in its Summer Moving Project, performing works by ​​​​​​​​​​​Julia Wilkinson Manley, Melissa French, Carly Hambridge, Dominic Walsh, Kerry Healy and Momo Sakai. Lauren participated in Colorado Ballet's Young Dancer Workshop in summer 2018, and in the Winter Workshop at Lemon Sponge Cake under the direction of Robert Sher-Machherndl in 2020. She was a participant in the Denver Ballet Guild’s Young Dancers Competition in 2020. Lauren was excited to choreograph and produce her first dance film work, Water in the Flame, as part of CCD's Choreology Festival this year. Lauren loves being a part of the CCD family and looks forward to many more years of dance.

Abbey Sterling is a 14-year-old 8th grader at Nativity: Faith & Reason Catholic School.

She currently holds a 3.5 GPA and enjoys being Vice President, altar serving, and being in numerous clubs at her school. She has been studying dance at Colorado Conservatory of Dance for ten years, and this will be her third season with CCD’s Studio Company. She has performed in nine annual performances of CCD’s Gala and in several works choreographed

She has danced the roles of Little Angel, Party Girl, Bon Bon, Fritz’s Friend, Spanish, Lead Angel, Mouse, Snow, Flower, Harlequin Doll and Mirliton. Biographies, continued Emily Taft is an 18-year-old homeschooled senior; she will graduate with the APEX Homeschool Program with highest honors. She joined the Pre Professional Program at Colorado Conservatory of Dance last fall as a senior, and joined Studio Company in January. She had performed and trained at Longmont Dance Theatre Academy since age three, and had participated in their Pre-Collegiate Ballet Intensive Program since 7th grade. She has had the pleasure of working with many choreographers: Erica Randall, Kristin Kingsley, Stephanie Tuley, Rachel Dodson, Julia Wilkinson Manley, Dominic Walsh, Tilman O’Donnell, Caili Quan, Cameron Terry, and more. Emily has performed in The Nutcracker for 11 years. With CCD, she loved dancing Snow Queen and Flower. Some of her other The Nutcracker roles include Snow Queen, Dewdrop, Arabian Pas de Duex, Columbine Doll, and Clara. Among the roles she’s danced, Grasshopper soloist in A Midsummer Night’s Dream under Stephanie Tuley and Kristin Kingsley was a favorite. Emily has attended Summer Intensives for many years, including Kansas City Ballet’s program last summer. Emily will be at CCD’s Summer Intensive this year, and will continue in the Pre-Professional Program for one year before pursuing a professional career in ballet, most likely with a trainee or second company program.
