ELEMENTARY KIDS & FAMILIES date:
This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church, or download it at HomeFrontMag.com. You can also access the HomeFront app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

Did You Know?
Your child is beginning to read with more ease and expression. Help him continue to gain confidence by allowing him to read some of the simpler Bible passages you read together as a family.
• The Israelites celebrated seven annual festivals: Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Festival of First Fruits, Feast of Harvest, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles (or Booths). In addition, the Israelites celebrated the Festival of Jubilee on the 50th year, the year following seven cycles of seven Sabbatical years.
Older Kids Your child is going through a lot of physical and emotional changes. Let her know that you support her and love her, and reassure her that these changes are normal.
• During the festivals, the Israelites ate, danced, sang, played instruments, prayed, and offered sacrifices to God.
REMEMBER & CELEBRATE Remembering and Celebrating God’s Gift of Freedom: Festival of Jubilee
• The Year of Jubilee celebrated God’s gift of freedom. It was a consecrated year set aside to proclaim liberty and restoration for all of the inhabitants of the land. Debts were forgiven, and those who had sold themselves to settle a debt were set free. • The Feast of Jubilee symbolizes our eternity in heaven with our Lord and Savior—living in perfection, free from the debt of sin.
After reading Psalm 96, discuss the following together: • What does this passage tell us about God? • What is your favorite song of praise to God?

(Child’s name), may you experience the freedom that only comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. May you walk every day in the joy that comes from that freedom.
