In “igniting outstanding futures” for our students, we are very proud to present the next chapter in our remarkable Corpus legacy as we strive toward 2030 and beyond.

VALUES

COURAGE, COMMITMENT & COMPASSION

We are one school, one community, one body in Christ and Jesus is our ultimate role model. As Saint Paul reminds us, we “... are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it”. The Solemnity of Corpus Christi - the feast to which our College owes its namesake - was instituted to celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

At Corpus Christi College, inspired by the Eucharist, we strive to make Jesus’ presence a reality through being courageous, compassionate and committed. It is these values which are lived out to positively shape the culture of our K-12 College community.

As Jesus modelled, it takes courage to stand up for what is right and to actively contribute to the caring and harmonious community He envisaged. Just as the Eucharist offers us unity in our faith, there are sacred opportunities in each day for all members of our community to be the Good Samaritan. This begins with having the courage to step forward, go beyond ourselves and make a genuine difference.

In being courageous, we move outside of our comfort zones to discover and learn. In doing so, we recognise the courage required to grow and transform.

Seeing the needs of others requires us to be compassionate. By having a genuine empathy for others, we see who they are and the challenges they may be facing. We journey with them and are unwavering in our service and support.

By being present to others, we show compassion and are respectful of their individuality. Understanding their suffering and circumstance allows us to respond to their needs in our words and actions.

Jesus committed his life to us with courage and compassion. He was committed to justice and mercy for all and made many sacrifices in service of others. In the image of Jesus, all members of our community are called to do good works; operating with a sense of social justice and tenderness.

All members of the Corpus Christi College community are called to embrace our values as a proud acknowledgement of what we stand for. When we live out our values, we become a shining example of a community of individuals who are united in their vision to be ‘Outstanding for Others’.

VISION

TO BE OUTSTANDING FOR OTHERS

By being compassionate, courageous and committed, we form a Christ-centred community that celebrates the wholistic development of all.

Our welcoming community builds confidence and provides the conditions for excellence. This environment allows everyone to courageously share their talents and proudly let their light shine as according to Matthew,

‘No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.’

- MATTHEW 5:15-16

Being outstanding for others requires a commitment to compassion that begins with self-reflection, prayer and discernment. We harness our gifts to be outstanding in the ways we interact with and serve others.

Being outstanding for others requires us to be countercultural; to challenge the status quo to cultivate the world Jesus envisaged. As compassionate people, we stand firm in the knowledge that we are authentically giving witness to our values.

Corpus Christi College is a community of hope. We provide learning, faith, social and emotional opportunities for everyone to discover their unique talents, enabling them to become outstanding for others.

MISSION

TO IGNITE THE SPIRIT THROUGH COURAGE, COMMITMENT & COMPASSION

Our mission is to make Christ’s presence felt in all that we are, and all that we do, through courage, commitment and compassion. If we are to understand ourselves as the ‘Body of Christ’, then we must see ourselves as aspiring to be the real presence of Jesus to each other and in our outreach to the wider community.

The Corpus Christi is the Body of Christ. We are one school, one community, one body in Christ, with each part having a very special role to play. Our Mission therefore extends to us seeing the needs of all and creating an environment that allows them to shine. As Jesus is present in the Eucharist, so too are we present for all in our community.

Our mission ignites the values of courage, compassion and commitment. Corpus Christi College is a hope-filled and energetic community where new ways of thinking and operating are welcomed and each member of our community can find belonging.

As a progressive Catholic school, we offer innovative and high-impact learning opportunities to best prepare students for their future world. We courageously respond to the dynamic nature of the current global landscape by creating a contemporary, holistic, skills-based learning environment, which fosters a sense of agility and a genuine love of learning.

Inspired by the committed works of Jesus, all members of the Corpus Christi College community are called to acts of compassionate service. This is facilitated through opportunities for Christian Service and ministry. Our pastoral approach promotes the dignity of all and ensures each member of our community feels a sense of belonging and trust. We strive to ensure Corpus Christi College students approach their futures with joyful ambition, firm in the knowledge that they are deeply cared for and supported.

Each member of the Corpus Christi College community has a vital role to play in ensuring we are outstanding for others. This is visible in the student-centred and restorative approach our educators take, which is captured in the learning cycle students progress through, ensuring impactful feedback, reflection and goal-setting drives learning. The Corpus Christi College educator is called to their vocation with a compelling commitment to outstanding learning and growth.

Compassionate educators recognise the unique attributes of students and celebrate their individuality. As a quality K-12 Catholic school, continually improve the ways we personalise the learning, care and faith development of each member of our community. In this way, the syllabus is meticulously planned with attention to universal design and opportunities for students to be extended and enriched. This continues beyond the classroom in the purposeful suite of co-curricular activities and competitions offered by the College, which enable students to commit to the pursuit of excellence in all that they do.

‘Christ has no body but yours; no hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.’
- ST. TERESA OF AVILA

OUR CHANGE IMPERATIVE

IGNITING OUTSTANDING FUTURES

Each generation faces environmental, economic and social challenges which call for an authentic sense of resilience and an unwavering faith in the capacity of humankind. Although the challenges may evolve, one thing remains constant; the societal belief that schooling must equip young people with the capabilities and qualities needed to navigate complexity in ways that not only allow them to flourish, but to also contribute impactfully to their world. In light of this, the urgency and public interest in the responsibility of schools and educators to craft high-quality learning experiences cannot be overstated.

The principles of Catholic Education in Western Australia are a response to the higher moral and spiritual purpose of education, reflecting the evangelising mission of the church. Our call is to “integrate faith, culture, and life” into learning, shaping individuals who are not only globally conscious but also exemplary world citizens. To prepare our young people for the unknown future, we must provide them with opportunities for encounter and reflection within their uniquely Catholic learning environment which will frame their values.

Common themes from the OECD’s 2030 Learning Framework and the Incheon Framework for the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal Four emphasize the importance of learner-centred experiences. These experiences should instil in each child a love for learning and a belief in their God-given potential, crucial elements in achieving the goal of ‘inclusive and equitable quality education for all’.

Corpus Christi College’s Vision for Learning has been shaped by the challenge posed to educators worldwide. As a community, we appreciate the abundant resources and intellectual capital we share, enabling us to continually strive for exceptional teaching and learning experiences.

At a national level, the 2019 Mparntwe Declaration

crystalises the need for a dynamic change imperative within all Australian schools. We are committed to excellence for all in Australian education with the view that all young Australians have the right to become ‘confident and creative individuals who are active and informed members of their community.’ To achieve this, early childhood education and the primary years must provide a welcoming and rewarding experience for all students where the foundations of curiosity, problem solving and collaboration are built.

The K12 nature of Corpus Christi College ensures that our youngest students can access engaging resources, innovative pedagogy and revel in opportunities to engage with students from a broad range of ages and academic stages.

Schools are called to prepare students for an unknown world where it is likely they will train, retrain and shape careers in a way that is entirely different to the generations before them. A model where all students receive one mode of delivery and are assessed in one way is radically outdated. Corpus Christi College is a dynamic learning environment where all members of our community are challenged to inquire, measure, reflect and improve their processes.

We recognise the unique pathway of each student and believe that our students must grasp what it means to ‘be adaptive, innovative and continuously improving’ from the sandpit to the graduation stage which begins with encountering exceptional teaching. We willingly accept the call to create truly transformative learning experience for all members of our community.

To achieve outstanding educational experiences, the Corpus Christi College community must be unapologetic in our improvement agenda. We are called to champion evidence-based and innovative teaching practices tailored

to the unique needs of our learners. This begins with cultivating a genuinely welcoming high-trust atmosphere, where every community member feels a sense of belonging, with room to grow, secure in the knowledge that they are known, loved, and supported.

The development of the Corpus Christi College School Improvement Plan, our strategic directions, and deliverables are informed by feedback and a deep appreciation for the higher moral purpose guiding our transformational work with young people.

Our community collaborates to set aspirational goals for improvement and actively engages in processes that drive impactful learning. Schools open to improvement become joyful, hope-filled places of belonging, where every community member feels invested, fostering a palpable spirit of curiosity and wonder. The Corpus Christi College vision to be Outstanding for Others encapsulates this spirit and can only be realised when supported by an improvement agenda that is both audacious and steadfast.

OUR STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK

STRIVING TOWARDS 2030

Our four strategic pillars combine to provide the framework which allows us to fulfil our Mission and continue to always strive towards our Vision. The pillars are aligned from K-12 supporting continuity in the whole of school planning and initiatives to ensure the holistic development of students across the years.

Each pillar contains three key drivers which provide a clarity of focus in setting initiatives to drive the College growth and improvement. We focus on selected drivers each year to develop annual Catholic School Improvement plans.

With a clear vision for each of our four pillars, we promote an alignment and a culture of improvement and growth across Catholic Identity and Mission, Community, Learning, and Stewardship.

By having a clear and explicit improvement agenda we can develop a systematic process of collecting data to shape future practice. With analysis of data and collection of feedback, we adopt a cyclical approach which builds on previous learnings to grow momentum and ensure ongoing improvement to achieving our strategic goals. We engage all facets of our community in coconstructing the

future of our school. We strongly promote staff, student and parent/caregiver voice to share their experiences and work collaboratively to improve all facets of College life.

In living our Mission as the Corpus Christi, we celebrate the individuality of all members of our College community. This underlying philosophy drives our core intent of personalising the learning journey for all. We prioritise accessing contemporary research and evidence for each of these pillars to enhance engagement and improve holistic student development building quality pedagogy and curriculum experiences.

We align our Professional Learning Community to our strategic plan to expand staff efficacy and develop a common language and understanding of improvement at all levels across the school.

CATHOLIC IDENTITY & MISSION

HEAD • HEART • HANDS

The Catholic Identity and Mission philosophy of Corpus Christi College is grounded on the notion to propose, rather than impose, our Catholic worldview. This signifies we are not mere observers but rather we are on the journey with others. It is in this space where encounters can authentically take place, where needs can be met, and our community can truly be in service of others.

By listening to others, we acknowledge them and establish an authentic relationship. This relationship is like a ‘cultural covenant, one that respects and acknowledges the different worldviews, cultures and lifestyles that coexist in society.’ (Pope Francis, Fratelli Tutti).

We are a Christ-centered community that integrates faith, life and culture, inspiring all to work towards their full potential, empowering them to make a difference. We support all in our community to reach their full potential as ethical members of a just and merciful society.

Corpus Christi College remembers the way Jesus made the unseen in society known and loved. Our educational program ‘is intentionally directed to the growth of the whole person.’ (Bishops Mandate Letter, 2009-2015). We therefore embrace diversity, foster inclusion and, above all, respect the dignity of all people in our community.

There is a richness in our identity as Corpus Christi – the Body of Christ. Pope Francis uses a similar analogy to that of Saint Paul, to help us understand how we can use our gifts to encounter Jesus and be an experience of Christ in the flesh for others. He says: ‘There are three languages: the language of the head, the language of the heart, and the language of the hands; education must go forward by these three ways.’

Illustration Symbolism: Purple is a colour deeply associated with Catholicism, symbolising penance, reflection, and spirituality. The inclusion of the rosary and prayer hands underscores the College’s commitment to faith and its mission. The rosary represents devotion and the importance of prayer in daily life, while the prayer hands suggest a commitment to God and the integration of faith into education. The crown of thorns alludes to the head, symbolising sacrifice and the College’s dedication to nurturing both the intellectual and spiritual growth of its students. This connection to the College logo reinforces the importance of Catholic values and the holistic development of the head, heart, and hands.

Corpus Christi College is a welcoming and inclusive community that celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of each person formed in the image and likeness of God. We create the conditions for a safe and flourishing community that nurtures the wellbeing, strengths, and gifts of each person.

Our community is built around authentic connections to nurture a sense of belonging and engagement. We work in close partnership with all members for our community to ensure that we provide the best possible growth environment at the College. We promote wellbeing and human flourishing by ‘nurturing spiritual, religious, cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.’ (CEWA). In living, teaching, and embedding the core tenants of positive education, we promote a flourishing educational environment where students ‘feel good and do good’:

‘Feeling good represents the value of a life high on positive emotions and engaging experiences whereas doing good represents functioning effectively, being connected, overcoming challenges, and contribute meaningfully to others.’

- KEYES & ANNAS, 2009

Ensuring a culture of wellbeing promotes a community of care, builds a quality environment and positively impacts growth. In this way, learning is synergistic with wellbeing. When we feel good, have our psychological and social needs met and exist within a wellbeing culture we are ready to learn and embrace challenges.
