Hechos 2:1–21 Cuando llegó la fiesta de Pentecostés, todos los creyentes se encontraban reunidos en un mismo lugar.

De repente, un gran ruido que venía del cielo, como de un viento fuerte, resonó en toda la casa donde ellos estaban. Y se les aparecieron lenguas como de fuego que se repartieron, y sobre cada uno de ellos se asentó una. The First Reading

Acts 2:1–21 When the day of Pentecost had come, the disciples were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

Vivían en Jerusalén judíos cumplidores de sus deberes religiosos, que habían venido de todas partes del mundo. La gente se reunió al oír aquel ruido, y no sabía qué pensar, porque cada uno oía a los creyentes hablar en su propia lengua. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs — in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.”

Oh Dios, Padre nuestro, cuyo amado Hijo tomó a los niños y niñas en sus brazos y los bendijo: Danos la gracia de confiar tus amados niños y niñas de Uvalde a tu cuidado y amor eternos, y llévalos plenamente a tu reino celestial. Derrama tu gracia y tu amorosa bondad sobre todos los que están en duelo, rodéalos de tu amor y devuélveles la confianza en tu bondad.

Te elevamos nuestras almas cansadas y heridas y te pedimos que envíes a tu Espíritu Santo para que quite la ira y la violencia que infectan nuestros corazones, y nos haga instrumentos de tu paz e hijos de la luz. En el nombre de Cristo, que es nuestra esperanza, te lo pedimos. Amén.

O God our Father, whose beloved Son took children into his arms and blessed them: Give us grace to entrust your beloved children of Uvalde to your everlasting care and love, and bring them fully into your heavenly kingdom. Pour out your grace and loving-kindness on all who grieve; surround them with your love; and restore their trust in your goodness.
