20 season with shows at both the Chubb Theatre and the new Bank of New Hampshire Stage. Our national tour musical theater presentations of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, Jersey Boys, and The Simon and Garfunkel Story will take you back to the great music of the 1960s and ‘70s. You’ll find talented comedy headliners such as Jay Leno, Nick Offerman, and Lewis Black on the Chubb Theatre mainstage, as well as concerts by Indigo Girls, Kansas, and more.

The Bank of New Hampshire Stage is the place to find rising music stars in all genres. You may not know all their names yet, but I guarantee they are all gifted musicians. Look at our list of upcoming live performers, check out their music on Spotify, and then enjoy an affordable night out in a brand-new venue with all the latest technology. The Bank of New Hampshire Stage is also the new home of our MET Opera Live in HD, National Theatre Live in HD, and Bolshoi Ballet in HD video broadcasts. They’re even more spectacular on our new 25 by 14 ft. video wall and surround sound system.

This building first opened in 1927 as the Capitol Theatre, a prime stop on the Vaudeville circuit. In our Chubb Theatre, you can still see pieces of the original stenciling from when the theater was built.

Plaques near each exposed section of stenciling explain their origins. The building later became Concord’s premier movie house and concert hall. After closing in 1989, the building underwent a multi-million dollar renovation / modernization and reopened in 1995 as the Capitol Center for the Arts. Today, the 44 S Main St. venue is home to: n the 1304-seat Chubb Theatre;

n the Governor’s Hall first-floor ballroom;

and

n our historic and stately Kimball House mansion, which also serves as our administrative office space.

patron services We want your experience here to be memorable. For your convenience: A house manager is on duty for each performance and is ultimately responsible for making our patrons feel safe, comfortable, and happy.

The house manager oversees our volunteer ushers, who can assist you with seating, programs, safety, and comfort. If you require any assistance during the show, please contact the nearest usher. If you are interested in becoming an usher, sign up online at ccanh.com, call (603) 225-1111, ext. 115, fill out the card at the box office, or ask an usher or House Manager at any performance.

Parking is available nearby at the Capital

Commons garage (entrance on Storrs St.) and an outdoor lot one block north of the CCA on S State St. On-street parking is free all day Sundays and on other evenings after 7PM. Handicapaccessible spaces with curb cuts are located in front of the theater. Please be considerate to our neighbors and do not park in posted lots or in front of driveways: your car may be towed.

Accessing our facilities: The box

office vestibule, main lobby (including bathrooms), and orchestra level, are wheelchairaccessible. Ushers may be available at the front walkway to assist patrons being dropped off in front of the building. We also have an elevator available to help patrons get to the orchestra level from the main lobby without having to climb stairs. Please allow extra time to let us best assist you.

CHILDREN Please use discretion regarding young children’s ability to sit quietly and enjoy a show. Tickets are required for all patrons at all performances, including babes in arms, unless expressly stated otherwise (such as certain family and children’s performances).

SMOKING/VAPING Smoking/vaping is not allowed anywhere inside the CCA. There are ashtrays outside the front entrance. Please be courteous and discard cigarette butts in the nearest receptacle.

CAMERAS AND RECORDING DEVICES Non-professional, non-flash, still photography is permitted unless posted or stated otherwise. Professional cameras and recording / broadcasting of any kind (including video, Facebook Live, and similar apps) are prohibited without express prior written permission from both the performers and the CCA. 10

BEEPING & RINGING ITEMS Audible phones, watches, and other electronic devices must be turned off during the show to avoid distracting others. If you must use such devices, please do so in our lobby or vestibule.

CONCERT SEATING POLICY We are proud to welcome all types of shows and concerts to our stage. Occasionally during a performance, audience members will show their enthusiasm by standing and dancing, especially when encouraged by the performers to do so.

Unless directed by the show, we do not enforce a “must-sit” policy at concerts. To do so would not be acceptable to the performers when the crowd is moved to stand. This is especially true for rock shows and seats closest to the stage. We do not have a “no standing” policy and, in most situations, will allow guests to stand even if they block the view of the stage for other guests. If you are disturbed by having your view blocked by a standing or dancing guest, please notify an usher and we’ll attempt to find you alternative seating.

LATE ARRIVALS Each show has its own policy for late seating to ensure the best possible experience for all patrons and we are contractually obligated to abide with these policies. If you arrive after the show begins, you will not be seated until a suitable break, and then at the discretion of the CCA and artists. No refunds will be given as a result of late arrivals.

frequently asked questions BOX OFFICE/TICKETING When is your box office open?

Monday-Friday, 12pm-6pm at 16 S Main St. It opens one hour before each show at the venue for ticket sales exclusively to that performance and closes one half-hour after that show begins.

Can I buy tickets for another performance while I’m at the CCA to see a show?

No. At performance time, our box office is staffed to quickly and efficiently serve patrons attending that particular show. We cannot sell tickets to other shows during this time.

What if I’m a member and can’t use my tickets?

One of the benefits of CCA membership is ticket insurance. Our members may exchange tickets they cannot use for credit towards future performances by returning them to the Box Office at least 24 hours in advance of the performance.

What can I do with my unused tickets if I am not a member?

For sold-out shows, we will attempt to resell unused tickets. If we can resell the tickets, a refund will be issued. All service fees are nonrefundable.

What happens if the show is cancelled?

Performances occasionally cancel, for a number of reasons. If this happens, we will make every effort to notify you beforehand. If you purchased your tickets by credit card, your account will be credited. If you purchased your tickets with cash or a check, you will be mailed a check.

What if I can’t attend a performance because of the weather?

If the show goes on as scheduled, we are contractually obligated to pay the performers. Therefore, we do not offer weather-related refunds.

Why is there a processing fee?

A processing fee applies for each ticket purchased online or by phone to offset costs of our ticketing system which allows patrons to choose their own seats when ordering by phone or online. There is no fee for tickets purchased at our Box Office.

Does my infant need a ticket if she is going to sit in my lap during a performance?

Yes. Everyone attending a performance must have a ticket, including babes in arms, unless otherwise stated. This allows us to keep track of the number of attendees in case of emergency.

I received my tickets for seats 14, 16, and 18. Are they together?

Yes. Seats on the right side of the theatre are even-numbered and those on the left are oddnumbered. Seats in the center are numbered consecutively.

Do you have rush seats/discounts?

We do not offer rush seats. Occasionally, we may offer promotional discounts.

How do I get tickets to Gile Series performances and other free shows?

Tickets for free CCA performances are generally available online, by phone, and at our Box Office. Tickets for Gile Series shows are available approximately one month prior to the performance.

In the display rack in the CCA outer lobby and on our web sites at ccanh.com and banknhstage. com. Join our E-Mail Club and have show information sent to you on a regular basis!

Who decides which shows will be booked?

Most shows are booked by our Programming Department. However, others are presented by outside promoters and other people/organizations who rent our theatre.

Do you take artist suggestions?

Absolutely! E-mail them to friends@ccanh.com.

AT THE SHOW (also see “In Consideration of Others” at p. 10) When can I enter the theatre and take my seat?

For Chubb Theatre (“mainstage”) performances, the building opens one hour before - and seating begins 30 minutes before - performance time. For Gile Concert Series events, seating begins 45 minutes prior to the show. Bank of New Hampshire Stage show doors typically open one hour prior to the performance.

Why is the sound so loud / soft?

Our state-of-the-art sound system is calibrated to provide appropriate sound levels to all areas of the theater. Also, performing artists often have specific requirements as to how their shows should sound. We work closely with them to ensure that sound levels are appropriate.

However, from time to time, some patrons may find the levels either too loud or too soft for their personal taste. We have free personal earplugs available. We also have a listening enhancement system provided for your use at no charge.

Why is it so hot / cold inside the theatre?

Regulating the temperature of a building filled with as many as 1,300 people is tricky, since all those bodies raise the air temperature by several degrees. If you find it cool when you enter the building, you can expect the temperature to rise as the theatre fills. Please notify an usher if you believe the building is too warm or too cool.

I’m sitting behind a large wheelchair and can’t see the show. Can I switch seats?

We recognize that some motorized wheelchairs may block the view of patrons sitting in the next row. Please see an usher for assistance.

Where do I put my coat?

We do not have a coat check and cannot assume responsibility for any unattended items. Please do not drape coats over the balcony rails.

MEMBERSHIP/DONOR RELATIONS (see also member/sponsor information at the back of this playbill) Why do you ask for money beyond ticket costs?

Ticket revenue covers only about 70 percent of our expenses, so we rely heavily on donations from individuals and corporations. We are a non-profit organization and must continually raise money to support our mission to bring high-quality

What is the Ovation Society?

The Ovation Society is the premier group of individuals who support the ongoing work of the Capitol Center for the Arts. Minimum entry is $1,000 per year for at least five years. Ovation Society members enjoy exclusive privileges and receive special recognition for their support.

Why is there a range of membership levels?

We created a range to allow donors at all income levels to contribute meaningfully to the CCA. Sustaining memberships are also available, beginning at just $25/mo.

The bequest was made in memory of Miss Gile’s father, William H. Gile.

The brainchild of internationally acclaimed pianists Andreas Kern and Paul Cibis, the Piano Battle sees the duo go head-to-head on stage, charming and enchanting the audience with a variety of classical pieces. Part serious classical recital, part tongue-in-cheek performance by two classy pianists, the Piano Battle is a unique concert that pleases both the ear and the eye.

Sons of Serendip is a unique Billboard Charting quartet consisting of a harpist, cellist, pianist and lead vocalist. The quartet was a finalist on Season 9 of America’s Got Talent, gaining popularity by offering fresh interpretations of popular music. Since then, they’ve toured nationally, lighting up audiences with their creative and emotionally stirring arrangements and original compositions. The Bank of New Hampshire Stage, located on the site of the former Concord Theatre, brings back to vibrant life a piece of Concord’s past and adds another exciting option to the city’s thriving arts and cultural scene for residents and visitors alike. It expands the Capitol Center for the Arts’ music offerings in a club setting, while also creating a home for theatre, comedy, and Met Opera, National Theatre, and Bolshoi Ballet HD broadcasts.

The venue comprises (also see photos at right): n the Bank of New Hampshire Stage Mainstage (seating for up to 296 guests in a movable stadium seating unit and fixed balcony seats; room for up to 424 patrons at standing-only or club-style set up); n a first-floor kitchen with counter, offering an assortment of food and beverages;

and

n the Cantin Room event space, named after Concord Theatre owner/operator Theresa Cantin, features

a small raised stage, tables, and bar.

The Bank of New Hampshire Stage also serves as a community resource, with a mission of making the performing arts more accessible to all. Through it, the CCA expects to bring approximately 150 new shows and events to central New Hampshire, serving an additional 23,000 patrons per year.

Concord Community Center The city commissioned TTG to evaluate the former Dame School, which had been vacated by the school district with the recent construction of new elementary schools. The Dame School now houses the Concord City Community Center and the offices of Parks and Recreation. The goal of this project was to provide a total renovation of the youngest wing of the building into program and exercise rooms, and demolish the older wing in order to construct a new gymnasium, office, lobby, locker rooms and teaching kitchen.
