ABOUT THE FCIF
OUR MISSION
The Floor Covering Industry Foundation gets families back on their feet when battling catastrophic injuries, severe disabilities, or other life-altering medical crises. Founded in 1981 by industry leaders, the 501(c)3 charitable non-profit helps industry workers by providing direct grants for medical care and other basic needs.
OUR IMPACT
Rising costs and expenses cause our beneficiaries to lose basic financial freedom in their time of need. Financial help is viewed as an opportunity to say “we care” to those in our floor covering industry family. Grants are awarded based on need for expenses such as medical care, medications, medical supplies, and other expenses directly related to beneficiary care such as food, shelter, and utilities.

Marie, a tufting machine operator and technician from Tunnel Hill, GA with over 30 years of experience in the flooring industry, had her life forever changed in April 2023 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. “I went from working 40 plus hours a week to not being able to work. . . Not being able to provide was stressful” Marie shared. The financial strain became overwhelming as she navigated both her recovery and reduced income.
Marie applied for assistance and was approved for a grant by the FCIF that helped with her mortgage, utilities, transportation costs, and medical care. “This foundation has been a pillar of hope in dark times. It’s a blessing that this foundation is here for people that need it,” she said.
Marie’s story reflects her strength and the profound impact of FCIF’s support during one of the most challenging times in her life. She expressed her gratitude to FCIF and its donors: “May God bless the donors tenfold.”
Mario, a flooring installer from Mer Rouge, LA, devoted 35 years to his craft. Outside of work, he finds joy in drag racing, fishing, and hunting. In 2023, his life took a difficult turn when he was diagnosed with Grade 3 large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in his left lung.
During his treatment, Mario learned about the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) through the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute. He applied for assistance and was approved for a grant that helped cover his rent, home insurance, utilities, medical care, food, and transportation costs. “The grant truly saved our livelihood,” he shared, “Thank you so much to all who have helped. [My wife and I] were able to pay bills, put food on the table, and have a place to lay our heads.” He expressed deep gratitude to the foundation and its donors, whose generosity has brought hope and stability to his family during a critical time.
Thanks to the support of FCIF and its donors, Mario and his wife were able to face this difficult chapter with peace of mind. Their story is a powerful reminder of the difference we can make together!
