The Floor Covering Industry Foundation gets families back on their feet when battling catastrophic injuries, severe disabilities, or other life-altering medical crises. Founded in 1981 by industry leaders, the 501(c)3 charitable non-profit helps industry workers by providing direct grants for medical care and other basic needs.
Rising costs and expenses cause our beneficiaries to lose basic financial freedom in their time of need. Financial help is viewed as an opportunity to say “we care” to those in our floor covering industry family. Grants are awarded based on need for expenses such as medical care, medications, medical supplies, and other expenses directly related to beneficiary care such as food, shelter, and utilities.
Behind every assistance grant we have made is a story of crisis and perseverance—of a real person struggling through a difficult time. We are helping to keep unexpected setbacks from turning into permanent roadblocks. Visit fcif.org to learn more.
FCIF’s caring approach allows those in need to seek help with dignity and confidence. Our beneficiaries have included:
• A creeler in a flooring manufacturing plant who has invasive stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her bones
• A flooring installer and his teenage daughter who are both battling leukemia
• A lift-truck operator who had part of his foot amputated
• A sales manager whose husband has lung cancer and a brain tumor
• A shipping clerk whose 3-year-old daughter is deaf and has developmental delays requiring special therapy

The Floor Covering Industry Foundation has made my life a lot easier,” shared Michele, a recent recipient of a grant from the FCIF. Michele, a single mother with two daughters, has worked on the clerical side of the flooring industry for 9 years.
Recently, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was out of work during her treatment. During that time, a social worker at her local cancer treatment center connected Michele with the Floor Covering Industry Foundation, which was able to help Michele get caught up on outstanding bills. The grant she received also gave her a peace of mind knowing that she would have funds from FCIF to help pay for the cost of her medical care that insurance did not cover.
Michele shared, “I would like to thank the Floor Covering Industry Foundation for helping people that have unseen medical issues and are not able to work.”
Overnight, James accumulated $13,000 in medical bills, even with a discount from the hospital. At age 48, James, a single father of two teenage girls, had a severe heart attack that left him in the hospital for days and scrambling to make ends meet.
James is a veteran of the flooring industry, where he has dedicated 26 years of service. He was thankful that the owner of the company he worked for told him about the Floor Covering Industry Foundation. He received a medical grant that helped him over this unexpected obstacle.
“The grant has truly taken the burden off my financial situation. I can afford to get health insurance and pay off medical bills. I am so grateful.” Now he is back doing the work he loves and providing for his daughters.
For the past seven years, Teresa worked in a recycling facility that turned plastic bottles into carpet fiber. At the age of 52, she was not expecting to be planning chemotherapy treatments and then looking at 33 days of radiation therapy.
Struggling to make ends meet while out of work for treatments, Teresa wondered how she would survive financially. Even with health insurance and short-term disability insurance, she could not cover the costs of housing, food, and medical bills.
Teresa shared, “The grant from FCIF has reduced my stress and the financial burden has been lifted. I am happy to have a team of supporters cheering for me!” Thanks to the Floor Covering Industry, her battle with breast cancer is a little easier.
On behalf of CCA Global Partners and the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF), we wish to extend our sincerest thanks to past and recent Tournament participants for their impressive fundraising efforts for the FCIF.
With two decades’ worth of golf, goodwill, and generosity under our belts, we’re delighted to share since its inception, our program has yielded a grand total of $2,807,500..and counting! That includes the $130,000 yielded this past fall, during the 20th Annual Alan Greenberg Charity Golf Tournament.
This represents an ongoing dedication to giving back as we continue to navigate our changing world in a post-pandemic climate, as we consider the world’s shifting landscape and grapple with new sets of needs and challenges.
The FCIF supports individuals within the flooring industry who have been struck by unfathomable tragedy and circumstance: life-changing illnesses,
injuries, and disabilities. Drawing together the goodwill of caring peers, the Foundation is supported by the generosity of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, industry trade associations, and individual professionals, along with supporters from related industries: drawing on a common mission of caring that’s truly at the heart of the Foundation’s efforts.
A charity that’s constantly present in our own hearts, the FCIF continues to assist those in their hour of need, while celebrating the rich life and legacy of our own Alan Greenberg: a longtime supporter and lifelong philanthropist.
I trust this commemorative book highlighting some of our favorite moments of the 2022 Annual Alan Greenberg Memorial Golf Tournament will inspire all of us with its photos and memories as we look towards another incredible year of giving back.
Sincerely,
