Industrial Economics The Industrial Economics Program (IEP) of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) is the only economics program of its kind in the country, with a unique focus on the analysis of industries and business. It equips students with the ability to analyze trends in the business and economic environment and to draw out the implications for strategic decision making. The IEP is the most direct route to knowledge-based professions requiring a blend of mathematical expertise and a thorough understanding of how the economy and business work. Business is our economics. Our Curriculum You will go through a core liberal arts curriculum during your first three years in the University. In your third year, however, you will begin to take subjects in the Industrial Economics Program. After the fourth year, if you qualify, you may proceed to the fifth year and, after completing it, earn a Master of Science in Industrial Economics. Our Tradition of Expertise and Credibility IEP is offered by the School of Economics (SEC), the flagship institution of UA&P. It is the University’s original academic program, having started over 40 years ago with its predecessor, the Center for Research and Communication (CRC). It has produced some of the country’s leading investment analysts and corporate planning managers.

Business-Economics Alliance In the fifth year, IEP students spend a semester working in the field with corporations in the private and public sectors. This internship begins in the summer prior to the fifth year and gives students a chance to apply the tools they learn in the classroom to actual business and economic problems. During the internship, students work for most of the week in their host organizations and return to UA&P on Fridays and Saturdays for their coursework. Top corporations like Citibank, San Miguel Corp., Pilipinas Shell, HSBC, Unilever, among others, have participated in this alliance to mold the IEP students into future business leaders.

Political Economy The Political Economy Program of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) is the only program of its kind in the country today. The program offers a specialization in International Relations and Development. This makes your Political Economy training more relevant in today’s globalizing world. The Dr. Klaus Zeller Scholarship The Dr. Klaus Zeller Scholarship is a fullscholarship grant for outstanding students of the Masters of Arts in Political Economy with a Specialization in International Relations and Development. The scholarship is awarded to students who have exemplary grades and who have contributed to the realization of the program’s mission-vision through their participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Management The Management Program of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) combines business and academics that will stimulate your life in the real world after graduation. In the process, the program equips you with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to transform the challenges of the 21st century into business opportunities and socially responsible enterprises. The Management Program aims to develop the Management ACES, these are management students who are Analytical with excellent Communications skills, are Ethical and have the necessary Soft skills. (i.e., emotional and professional maturity, and ability to work in a team) Our Curriculum In the first three years in the University, you will go through a common liberal arts curriculum. In the third year, however, you will begin to take core subjects in the management program. In the fourth year, which is considered to be the first year of the graduate studies, the program offers a generalist view of the basic management functions (Finance, Human Resource, Marketing, Operations, and Enterprise Resource Systems). On the fifth year, which is the second year of the management graduate studies, you should have acquired a multi-disciplined analytical framework, a holistic and strategic perspective to decision-making, and a systematic approach to implementation. The Management Program is delivered using applied research methodologies, with emphasis on teambased project study. The combination of academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities simulates life, which is further enhanced by a work-study model via the business-academe partnerships for internship placements. The formal student-faculty mentoring process and career planning workshops contribute to a personalized learning experience. The Business-Academe Partnership The Business-Academe Partnership is a projectbased internship that aims to address relevant business issues via projects performed by 2nd year students. It is an application of the competencies of 5th year students to management situations. Simultaneous with the internship are academic subjects, which include management research, strategic management, project management, international business market research, investment management, and brand management. It is an intensive 9-month program, starting in August of each academic year and ending in May, which requires the management interns to report to their host companies Mondays to Wednesdays, do research work every Thursday, and attend academic subjects every Fridays and Saturdays. The result of the program is a Management graduate who is ready to face the corporate world, is highly objective, and yet creative, with a strong foundation in research methodologies in solving business dilemmas.

Education The Education Program of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) provides you with a solid preparation for a career in education by grounding you in four areas of learning: foundational subjects, psychology, specialization subjects, and research. These four areas of learning are studied from and integrated by a perspective that views the family as the first school and parents as the primary educators of their children.

Our Curriculum The full program offers a strong liberal arts curriculum and rigorous courses in early childhood education. The Child Development and Education specialization forms early childhood educators and specialists who can effectively blend theory and practice to create positive learning opportunities and experiences that promote the total development of young children.

Our Faculty All faculty members of the School have graduate degrees (most have doctorates) from prestigious universities here and abroad. Field Experiences in Education An intense 10-month apprenticeship (planned, supervised, and guided by the Field Experiences in Education Department or FEED) gives you an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills, and talents as future educators in preschools and primary schools. Even while on apprenticeship, many students receive job offers from their apprenticeship sites. Information Technology The Information Technology Program of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) goes beyond the traditional confines of computer science by exposing you to an environment oriented to both business and technology. You will develop not only the technical skills, but also the business management skills and soft skills as well as the moral and ethical grounding you will need to become the complete IT professional for the Philippines, Asia, and the rest of the world. Some of them have also ended up as database, systems, and network administrators.
