UA&P Blaze a Trail The University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) is a private, notfor-profit institution of higher learning that puts due emphasis on the person, the family, the nation, and the world. Offering some of the most outstanding academic programs in the Philippines and Asia, the University provides a powerful combination of liberal education and professional specialization. UA&P students’ formation is facilitated by an environment conducive to learning, qualified and dedicated teachers, a superior faculty-to-student ratio, and well-maintained facilities.

ADMISSIONS UA&P admits applicants on the basis of their College Entrance Exam results and high school grades. Involvement in the arts, athletics, and other worthwhile extra-curricular activities, as well as commitment to service and leadership, are also considered important. Generally, the University admits students who are determined to work hard and finish a degree in the institution. UA&P’s freshman intake is normally for the first semester of each school year. Applicants from foreign countries may be admitted case to case for the 2nd semester. UA&P Education FIVE-YEAR PROGRAMS Students who enter the University first go through the three-year Liberal Education program at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), after which they formally enter the different Graduate Schools. If they meet all academic requirements of the graduate program, they can graduate with a master’s degree in five years. Master of Arts in Education Major in Child Development and Education The MAE-CDE Program intertwines four areas of learning: foundational subjects, psychology and counseling, specialization subjects, and research. These four areas are studied from and integrated by a perspective that views the family as the first school and parents as the primary educators of their children. Master of Arts in Humanities The Master of Arts in Humanities Program is designed to provide students with a broad grasp of the humanistic disciplines of history, literature, philosophy, and the arts. Drawing on classical and contemporary approaches, its courses present and illustrate the basic concepts, theoretical frameworks, and methodologies of the humanities.

Master of Arts in Political Economy The only one of its kind in the country, the Master of Arts in Political Economy Program offers a specialization in International Relations and Development in order to prepare students for an increasingly interdependent world and to help them appreciate how this environment shapes human and social development. It adopts a multidisciplinary approach to the study of social problems and issues, using analytical tools and methods from Political Science, Economics, History, and Sociology.

Industrial Economics, Business Management, and Applied Mathematics, starting school year 2010-2011. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology By exposing students to an environment oriented to both business and technology, the IT program goes beyond the traditional confines of computer science and teaches not only technical skills, but also business management and the soft skills needed to become complete IT professionals.

Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management Program is the first and only program in the country that nurtures entrepreneurial talent as early as the adolescent years. It aims to enhance the students’ ability for, among others, strategic planning, resource management, response to opportunities, and equitable compensation. Students under the program are expected to establish a viable business venture before graduation. Scholarship Program The University offers various scholarships to help students finance their graduate and undergraduate education. Merit scholarships are highly competitive study grants that may cover up to 100% of tuition fees based on the entrance exam scores and high school grades. Who can apply for admission? The following qualify for regular admission as freshmen: • Graduates of Department of Educationaccredited high schools: - High school seniors (equivalent to 4th year or grade 12, depending on the educational system that the school follows) expecting to graduate at the end of the school year - High school students who have not taken any college work and hold Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) certificates indicating their eligibility for admission to college - Transfer students from other universities and colleges accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (willing to start again as freshmen) • Filipinos who have graduated from secondary schools abroad • Foreign applicants who are graduating or have graduated from a high school abroad How do I qualify for admission? The Admissions Committee selects potential students primarily on the basis of the College Entrance Examination (CEE), academic performance in high school, recommendation from the guidance counselor, and personal interview results.

Transferees who apply for admission should have earned no less than 30 units and attained a cumulative general weighted average (GWA) of 2.0 in another college or university. If they satisfy this initial criterion, they will be advised to apply and take the CEE. The College of Arts and Sciences reserves the right not to credit any subject taken elsewhere and require transferees accepted into the University to start as freshmen. When do I find out the results of my application? Letters of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent to the applicant by registered mail or courier service. The names of those who qualify will be posted on the UA&P website and the UA&P Admissions Bulletin Board located at the Ground Floor, CAS Building. SOS…I need a scholarship/financial aid. How do I go about it? UA&P offers merit scholarships and financial aid to deserving students. Merit scholarships are highly competitive study grants that may cover up to 100% of tuition fees.

Fill out the slip and submit it to the cashier at the Accounting and Finance Unit (AFU), 2nd floor, College of Arts and Sciences Building. Those who qualify are valedictorians and salutatorians from select high schools, as well as applicants whose high school average is at least 90%. The University also gives financial aid to Filipino students who meet the following criteria: financial need, as attested to by the family’s finances and recommendations, academic competence (high school average of at least 85% and passing entrance exam results), and interview evaluation. Is there a dress code? UA&P adheres to a dress code in order to create a professional culture on campus. Most of the courses require the 4th and 5th year students to be in business attire when they attend their major subjects. The undergraduate students may come to school in casual wear. What is the role of Opus Dei in the University? Opus Dei has been contracted by the University to help in spiritual and moral development of the students, faculty, and staff. It also ensures the doctrinal integrity of the Theology subjects taught as part of the curriculum. The Admissions Office will inform you of the personal or panel interview schedule not later than 60 days after your exam date. 10. For admitted applicants: read carefully the attachments to your acceptance letter (Instructions for Incoming Freshmen, Schedule of Fees, and the Confirmation Fee Slip). The date for enrollment will be indicated in your acceptance letter. 11. Prepare the following documents for enrollment: • Form 138 (Original senior report card) • Form 137 (Transcript of Records) Note: Form 137 may be submitted during the Freshmen Orientation Day scheduled on the first week of June. care of by the University’s management staff. What student organizations and varsity teams does UA&P have? UA&P’s organizations are grouped into three categories: Civics, Arts, and Sports. The nature of the Civics organizations ranges from business to cultural, the Arts focuses on performing arts and creative writing, while Sports clubs include lawn tennis, dance troupe and muay thai. UA&P’s Varsity Sports Program (VSP) is made up of teams composed of student-athletes who represent UA&P in external events and tournaments. The teams include men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s futsal, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s table tennis, Squadra and the Pep Squad. UA&P is a member of the Men’s and Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Associations (MNCAA & WNCAA). I’m homeless in Manila. Where can I stay? The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) facilitates housing arrangements for university students, especially if they are from the province or another country.
