Thermalsprayweldingandcladdingweldingarebothtechnologies usedtostrengthenandrepairthesurfaceofmaterials.Thermal sprayweldingisatechnologythatusesahigh-temperatureheat sourcetospraymoltenorsemi-moltenmaterialontothesurfaceof theworkpiecetoformacoating.Commonheatsourcesinclude flame,arc,plasma,etc.,whilecladdingweldingisatechnologythat usesaweldingmethodtomeltthefillermaterialontothesurfaceof thesubstratetoformacladdinglayer.Commoncladdingmethods includearcwelding,plasmaarcwelding,laserwelding,etc. Commonapplicationscopesofthermalspraywelding/cladding weldingincludelargeballvalves,lasercladdingmolds,rollers, heavycylinderpistons,etc

Thesurfacehardnessoftheworkpieceafterthermal spraying/surfacingishigh,andthesurfaceoftheworkpieceafter surfacingisnotveryregular,whichplaceshighrequirementsonthe

hightemperatureredhardnessandimpacttoughnessoftheinserts.

Inthisregard,HalnnSuperhardcanprovidethreetypesofinserts materials:carbideinserts,ceramicinsertsandCBNinsertsfor processingdifferentmaterials. Basedonyearsofpracticalexperience,HalnnSuperhardhas concludedthatmoresuitableinsertsmaterialscanbeselected throughthefollowingthreeaspects.

1.Thehardnessoftheinsertsitselfandthehardnessofthe materialbeingprocessed:Thehardnessoftheinsertsmustbe greaterthanthehardnessofthematerialbeingprocessed.Interms oftheirownhardness,carbideinserts,ceramicinsertsandCBN insertsare:carbideinserts<ceramicinserts<CBNinserts.

2Hightemperatureresistanceofinsertsandcuttingtemperature ofprocessedmaterials:Thehightemperatureresistanceofinserts mustbegreaterthanthecuttingtemperatureofprocessed materialsIntermsoftheirownhightemperatureresistance,the threetypesofinsertsare:carbideinserts<ceramicinserts<CBN inserts.

3.Impacttoughnessofinsertsandworkingconditionsand processingsurfacemorphology:Forexample,thesurfaceofthe workpiecerepairedbysurfacingmaterialsisirregular,uneven,and hashighhardness,formingintermittentcutting,whichhashigh

requirementsfortheimpacttoughnessofinserts.Intermsoftheir ownimpacttoughness,thethreetypesofinsertsare:ceramic inserts<CBNinserts<carbideinserts.

Technicaldifficulties:

1.ThehardnessofthesurfaceaftersprayweldingisHRC55-60, andthesprayweldingsurfaceisirregular,sotheinsertsneedsto havenotonlyhighhardness,butalsoacertainimpacttoughness.

2.ConventionalCBNbladeswithnegativechamferscannotbe usedduringcutting,otherwisethesurfacesprayweldinglayerwill bepeeledoff.

Hardness:HRC55;HRC60

Processingcontent:Sprayweldinglayerthickness:1.6mm,retain 0.6mmthickness,andremove1mmthicknessduringprocessing.

Basedonthisworkingcondition,Halnnprovidedanoriginal solution:BN-H10materialchipbreakerinsert,whichnotonly solvedthecustomer'sprocessingdifficulties,butalsoimproved workefficiencyandwaswellreceivedbycustomers.
