Years 7 and 8 RISE stands for Relational, Integrated, Student-centred Education and is CBHS Lewisham’s Years 7 and 8 Transition programme. This programme is designed to help students make the change from primary school to secondary school. RISE uses a cross-curricular learning approach across the English, Religious Education and HSIE (History and Geography) Key Learning Areas to help students in Years 7 and 8 to further their ability as independent learners with a love of learning. The RISE environment fosters critical and collaborative thinking for the Stage 4 learner and includes both cross-curricular teaching and assessment tasks. In addition to their RISE classes, boys in Years 7 and 8 will also study Mathematics, Italian and French, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, Science, Technology, Visual Arts and Music.
Years 9 and 10 The courses studied in Years 9 and 10 build upon the knowledge and skills developed in Years 7 and 8. All students study a broad range as approved by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Mandatory courses studied in Years 9 and 10 include Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, PDHPE, History and Geography.
