■ Illustrator Logo Workshop or “How to get a logo without a big white box around it” For the ‘do it yourselfer’ that needs a little help to clean up or finish that vector logo or graphic in Adobe Illustrator. If you’re not clear on what this means, all your questions will be answered. You will be coached on preparing a perfect scalable master graphic for any printer. Our sessions will provide more of an open question workshop environment rather than traditional classroom setting. Skills covered: Basic drawing and shape tools, Choosing and modifying fonts, colors and gradients, and essential print production knowledge. Gorgeous gardens include ART as part of the design. In this class you will create your own beautiful garden accessories; birdhouses, birdbaths and fun bird decorations that you design and make yourself! Bring an apron or dress to get dirty. 12 lbs of clay, use of tools, glazes, and firing time included in the cost. We will make two small art projects while enjoying appetizers and refreshments. Project ideas include: Handmade envelopes, postcard plaques, decoupage bottles, wired hanging bottles/bud vases, photo frames, silverware charms, small accordion books, or recycled wool flower pins. Projects to be determined at class registration. Refreshments include water and non-alcoholic beverages. Appetizers will be an assortment of chips, dips and sweets. □ Instructor Sharon P. Sychta □ Cost: M Members $30/NonMembers $45 □ Date ► to be mutually agreed upon at time of registration. ■ Painting En Plein Air (Ages 18+) Join award-winning artist Michael Chesley Johnson for two days of painting outdoors in beautiful Batavia. Johnson will focus on fundamentals for painting outdoors - how to begin, how to proceed and how to finish. The workshop will include demonstrations in oil and pastel, plenty of time for student work, plus critiques. Johnson gives personal attention at the easel, complete with helpful tips and suggestions. In the event of bad weather, students will paint in the studio. Michael Chesley Johnson is an oil and pastel painter working in the American Southwest and the Canadian Maritimes. Elected a Master Pastellist by Pastel Artists Canada in 2008, he is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and a juried member of Oil Painters of America. He is the author of Backpacker Painting: Outdoors with Oil & Pastel and Through a Painter's Brush: A Year on Campobello Island.
