The Water Street Studios Community Outreach Program

Thank you Water Street Studios is an all volunteer 501(c)3 organization. As such, the organization depends on support from individuals, corporations, state and local government and grant foundations.

has fully funded scholarships for 75 children to attend art classes since the fall of 2010. Through these scholarships, students without financial means to pay have explored drawing, ceramics, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking and welding. In addition to these funded classes, Water Street Studios also offers Art Flow, an afterschool art program. Art Flow provides art activities to pre-K through 8th grade students at Batavia Apartments and reaches area high school students every Thursday afternoon at Water Street Studios. All of these programs exemplify our mission to bring art education and appreciation to all residents of the Fox Valley area. For more information about Community Outreach or if you are interested in helping to support the program, please contact Jim Kirkhoff, Director of Development, development@waterstreetstudios.com or 630.761.9977.

Guest Artist

■Emotion and Movement Figurative Watercolor Workshop Jeannie McGuire developed her unique approach to the figure by exploring a freer application of paint and pushing her style to the limits of expression Her narrativetype paintings are referenced from photos or sketches that spark her interest, followed by drawing a strong design structure which sets the stage for the painting process to develop, change and unfold into a story or persona. Workshop instruction focuses on creating paintings of people as works of art versus formal portraits and on developing backgrounds that encourage a story, feeling or purpose to emerge. Each day begins with a demo pertaining to the day’s project such as: explore eyes and faces in an unconventional way, focus on a single figure with an obscure background, and intertwine a group of people with their back-ground elements. Artists receive plenty of personal attention and painting time. A group critique is reserved for the last afternoon. □ Instructor Jeannie McGuire □ Cost: M $385/NonMembers $415 (supply list available online or upon request) □ Fri, Sat, Sun Sept 14, 15, 16 ► 9:30a-4p (Please bring a bag lunch) WRK2302-A

Water Street Studios excels through the dedication of resident artists, volunteers and a wide community of supporters who are passionate about the arts. The following foundations have graciously joined the Water Street Studios community by supporting our operations or community outreach programming.
