2016 COHORT MCKENZIE BRUCE DECEMBER 2019 McKenzie is from Snyder, Nebraska and pursued concentrations in accounting and real estate. During her undergraduate career she was a property management intern for Union Pacific, a financial management scholar (FMS) for the FDIC, and a tax intern at Lutz. She joined Lutz as a full-time staff accountant after graduation. McKenzie was actively involved in Chi Omega, Beta Gamma Sigma, Rho Epsilon, and the Thompson Learning Community. Her advice to younger Scholars is, “Take any opportunity you can. Every opportunity leads to another.”
VICTORIA EREMEEVA DECEMBER 2019 Victoria is from Russia. She graduated with a concentration in marketing and a minor in management. During college, Victoria worked in digital marketing. She is a social media influencer and builds online fitness coaching programs. She has continued this work after graduation and hopes to one day start her own digital marketing agency. Victoria says, “Take every travel opportunity you get.”
ALEJANDRA ESCOBAR SERRANO AUGUST 2020 Alejandra is from Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated with a double major in business administration with an economics concentration and political science. Alejandra worked for a nonprofit, interned in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is now working on a congressional campaign. She was an active member of Students for Microenterprise. Alejandra is proud of being a Gates Millennium Scholar and being selected as a Public Policy Fellow at Princeton and a Harry Truman Fellowship Finalist. She says, “You learn more from a difficult journey than an easy route.”
JORDEN HANSEN DECEMBER 2019 Jorden is from Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated with concentrations in marketing, management, and economics. Jorden’s prior experiences include global marketing with Valmont, business with Kiewit and human resources with Union Pacific. Jorden is now pursing her master’s in economics at UNO while working in investor relations at Valmont. She is also the Scholars Academy graduate assistant. Last year, she received undergraduate economics student of the year. “Don’t be nervous to seek guidance from an older Scholar for personal or professional advice!”
