Hundreds of the sick and maimed had been brought for Jesus to relieve, and were disposed upon the ground in positions favorable to arrest his attention. The crowd had awaited his coming with intense anxiety, and their numbers were continually increasing. The Saviour could not here find the rest he sought, for the waiting company commanded his attention; their needs enlisted his immediate sympathy and aid. He could not steal away with his disciples to secure the coveted retirement, and disappoint this expectant people. All maladies were represented among the sick who claimed his notice. Some were burning with fever and unconscious of the anxious friends that ministered to them. There were the deaf, the blind, the palsied, the lame, and lunatic. In looking upon this wretched throng the heart of Jesus melted

At press time, there were three locally transmitted cases. Local mosquito transmission means that mosquitoes in the area are infected with the Zika virus and are spreading it to people. Cayman residents travelling overseas are reminded that it is possible to become infected while travelling and not become sick until returning home — and some persons might not have any symptoms at all. To help stop the spread of Zika, travellers should use insect repellent for three weeks after travel to prevent mosquito bites. Sexual transmission of the virus is also possible, so travellers are also encouraged to take the usual precautions or abstain. The Zika virus has been known to be present in sperm for up to 93 days. Zika infection during pregnancy may cause a serious birth defect of the brain called microcephaly and other severe fetal brain defects. Until more is known, CDC continues to recommend that pregnant women and those trying to become pregnant take the following precautions: • Avoid travel to any area with Zika. • If you must travel to or live in one of these areas, talk to your healthcare provider first and strictly follow steps to prevent mosquito bites. • If you or your partner live in or travel to an area with Zika, take the usual precautions against infection or abstain throughout the pregnancy. Oral transmission is also possible. Travellers to areas with Zika should monitor for symptoms or sickness upon return. If they become sick, they should tell their healthcare professional when and where they have travelled. CONDOLENCES TO SISTER SONYA SCOTT RIGBY AND FAMILY On behalf of the Conference family, we extend our deepest sympathy to the family of the late Brian Rigby, Sonya Scott Rigby and family. Brother Rigby lost his courageous battle, but we have a blessed hope that we will see him again when he will be restored fully. May our Lord bless and comfort your family during this time of grief.
