NO CONFIDENCE ? FEATURED STORY

In a shocking turn of events following a Special General Meeting of the Guild of Students, a petition was submitted to the Returning Officer to remove the council’s president. The petition surfaced after a student tried to raise a motion of no confidence during the Special General Meeting but was told that due to the unique purpose of the meeting, the motion could not be raised in such a circumstance. The petition, which also required fifty (50) signatures to be submitted, outlined a number of areas in which the student felt that the president should be held accountable. These areas included Lack of transparency, Use of funds, and Overall poor management of the Guild. Many persons have since taken to social media to share personal takes on the matter, however the vast majority of students are still waiting anxiously on an official verdict. The only question that remains at the moment is “Can the guild council suffer the loss

of yet another councilor?” If this were to happen, the council would then be placed in a much more difficult position than it already was. There is currently no real update on the matter, however the signatures which were submitted is in the process of being verified by the Office of Student Services. Considering this is all being done alongside the verification of recently

nominated election candidates, it is difficult to say just how long the process would actually take. Whether or not the allegations brought against the president are factual or of personal opinion, we continue to remind the Guild of Students that the council is here to serve you and acknowledges accountability. Updates on the matter will be provided as soon as possible to the student body.
