BLACK ANGUS TRIPLE J

17th Annual Bull & Female Sale

Welcome to our 17th Annual Bull Sale...

We would like to welcome everyone back to the farm, south of Whitewood, for our sale.

First of all, I want to Thank everyone who attended last years sale which was dedicated to Dad.

Secondly, I want to Thank the hired help. Special Thanks to Scott Hooker who has helped me so much this year since November. Especially in the cold weather -50C when we were getting up every 2 hours to check. Your help is so much appreciated.

Thirdly, I have to introduce our part time help Deanna Yanyu, a Live wire that keeps us on our toes. We have found out sorting sticks are not just for sorting cattle. Very glad to have her here since November. A 16yr old keeps the sunshine going.

Also to Thank Donnie and sales staff over the years for doing our sale.

Fourthly: The herd has gotten stronger - Easy doing, length of body, depth of body. Hair coats and udder attachments, teat placements, feet and heel. Fertility and pelvic and most of all disposition. The bulls are more uniform and thicker, better footed than last year. A better selection of bulls. They have a 4-acre paddock to run in.

The heifers are the best group ever put together for this sale. Very feminine, depth of body, length, excellent feet and heel. Easy doing and great disposition. Most are sired by Lazy E Stockman 8H. The females are ‘awesome’-beautiful udders, great disposition, great feet and legs. We had no trouble what so ever calving out 8H daughters.

So by saying this Scott, Deanna and Myself did a very strict culling job - so bid with confidence!

Thank You,

We also want to Thank Curtis Yanyu, shop mechanic, for keeping everything going. To Aaron and Dale Flynn for all their carpentry and excavating work - You both have become family to us. Thanks

The Jeannots

Gene Thiry - Long Time Customer

Gene Thiry passed away at the age of 74 yrs on October 18, 2024. He farmed at Oak Lake, MB - farming a small amount of grain land and cattle being his main income. He took over the family farm in 1976 when the cow herd was mostly Charolais and Simmental based. In the early 90’s Gene introduced Angus into the herd, beginning with Red Angus. Within a few years he had switched to Black Angus bulls and at his passing the majority of his cows were AngusxSimmental. Over the last several years Gene purchased several Triple J bulls as they worked well on his herd. The majority of his remaining cows were kept in the family at his passing.

Gene is greatly missed by his 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren.

54D has been an amazing bull- that adds lots of frame and body. He is a good footed and smooth walking bull.

This is the first year that his daughters are in production on our farm, and they haven’t disappointed us. All have great square udders and lots of milk. The maternal instinct is there and their disposition is out of this world. What can I say about his bulls- the meat, muscle and length and not to mention lots of testicle development.

HBH Future 49F

2033031 HBH 49F Jan. 17, 2018

We have been told he is one of the best footed walking Angus bulls. Good foot and heel - a trait he passes on to all his offspring. Futures calves are not the biggest but they sure can grow. Lots of performance there.

His daughters are in production here as well this year and are amazing, quiet mothers. No problems calving them out with lots of pelvic room. There is lots of milk to grow some big calves. He improves udders.

Joseph Upshaw from New Brunswick purchased a 49F Daughter in our sale last year and is very pleased with her and how well she is raising her calf.

TJF Heavy Si 12D

1949858 AEHA 12D Jan. 17, 2016

A bull that will be on this farm until he dies. Dad always said “this bull is going to take us to the next level.” As a complete outcross in the angus industry he has done us well - leaving us great bulls and tremendous females.

12D is a moderate frame bull with great bone structure. His bulls are strong with lots of muscle, and his females have made amazing mothers.

TJF 505 Freedom 4H

2187530 AEHA 4H Jan. 25, 2020

4H sold in our 2021 sale to Wilson farms in Ontario - ½ interest ½ possession for $11,500. He is almost a spitting image of his sire -Western Freedom 505. This bull has a short gestation and is a calving ease, moderate framed bull.

We have used 4H on our heifers 2 years in a row. We are looking forward to seeing his daughters in production next year.

LAZY E Stockman 8H

We had the chance to purchase this bull from Lazy E Bar Ranching, Jim Bleakley of Bashaw, AB. 8H is out of the great TC Stockman 365 who was the National Western Senior Champion Bull in 1996. Like his father, 8H has proven to throw great bulls that gain his powerful hip and hind leg structure with impressive thickness on top and daughters that have the potential to grow to great herd starting cows
