On Target Shorthorn Bull Sale 2025 - DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions

Page 1

Welcome to the 5th annual On Target Bull Sale! This years’ sale is a bit different, with fewer bulls, no sale catalogue being mailed out, but the quality remains the same. Please check out the pictures, info and videos online. If needing help with this please give us a call and we can help you to view them.

It’s great to see calf prices still climbing, along with market as a whole. It does make you feel your efforts are finally being rewarded. This weather is another thing! One extreme to the other… wind, snow and rain all winter long! Only positive I can find right now (as I type its -31C and feels like -45C with windchill) is that it will provide some much-needed moisture this spring to get things greened up. Here’s hoping…

This fall we said good bye to our beloved ol’ Winegum ( ACC Candy’s Winegum 14W). She was the heart and soul of the ACC program. We have so many pictures with her: -celebrating her birthdays each year, often with DQ ice cream cake (for us) and a good helping of show ration (for her) -celebrating Sadie’s graduations from both high school and university - pictures with friends that finally got to meet Winegum! And even had videos sent back home to say “Hi” to Winegum all the way from Mexico

She was definitely more than “just a cow” to us here at ACC. We have a six-generation photo of Winegum and her progeny taken last summer that we will cherish forever.

So, take a look at the sale offering and give any one of us a call with questions you may have, or better yet, come out for a tour of the bull pen and you can see their mommas too.

We have truly admired this guy since the day he was born. We had high hopes for him, and needless to say- they have been met. He is high performing in every sense of the word. Deep-sided, free moving, thick and docile. Short gestation, moderate bw and explosive weaning weight!

You can’t analyze this bull without looking closely at his pedigree. He comes from one of the top Winegum daughters we have had in production thus far. She is easy-fleshing and consistently brings in a big calf with her, while maintaining excellent condition. We always joke she is the “cream factory” with how her calves grow after hitting the ground with a moderate bw. She has really clicked with Phantom, and finally has a heifer calf on the ground this year by him as well. LACABÒN is one of the best bulls that we will sell to date. He’s sure to add value to any operation- purebred or otherwise. Bid with confidence on this fella come sale time. We’d love to have you come see this guy and his dam in person, to really appreciate what he has to offer the industry. We are retaining a 50% semen interest in ACC 82L. 277 day gestation.

When we saw photos of 89L’s granddam in 2020, we knew that we needed to acquire this female’s genetics for our herd. We had 3 full sibs on the ground in 2022 including his dam; all with depth, length and a top-notch udder build. 41K has knocked it out of the park with her first calf. Lachlan is ultra smooth through is front, correct in structure and packs a punch of performance. Check out that BW to WW spread! We will be drawing semen on 89L to use him on all of our Shorthorn heifers this spring. 276 day gestation.

A bull that is hard to fault. 41M carries himself well and is especially attractive through his shoulder and into his front. He has a really unique pedigree being out of JSF Manhattan and a Paintearth Rama 53U daughter. ACC 16D is an easy doing, heavy milking female. She has a daughter at Mosside Shorthorns.

Horned. Another bull out of ACC 33F- this female is is the epitome of consistency. He is the third bull out of her to sell through this sale, noteably ACC Candy’s Jim Beam 71J who is doing some amazing things for PVSS in ND. 68M is long bodied, wide-topped and thick made. A mix of performance and calving ease with Janell’s Falcon 70F on the top.

A deep-sided, and easy-fleshing individual here- with the dark cherry red colour to top it off. 31M’s full brother sold in last year’s sale to Jacob & Katie Mikachuk in Alberta. She’s been a very consistent producer thus far and once again has a moderate bw calf on the ground this year. The guesswork is done for this guy!

ACC BLUE 37L

A pretty cool opportunity here to acquire a blue roan son of Winegum herself. We have had these embryos put away for a while, and thought there’s no better time with the desire for blue roans... To try and get some of the best! We really admired Wheatland Terminator for his performance and maternal pedigree. 37L is a meat machine. Long as a freight train with no shortage of muscle! Don’t miss out on this guy if you’re looking to add more hybrid vigour to your operation.

His sire was the high selling Shorthorn Bull in the 2020 MB Bull Test Station sale and went on to breed very well for the Wheelans family. 51M’s dam is a moderate framed, deep bodied cow with an immaculate udder going back to the Candy family. A long bodied, thick and smooth made bull out of one of our favourite cows. His dam, stemming from the Betsy line, is what we would deem the ideal Shorthorn cow with her feminine features, explosive rib, tidy udder and an easy keeper. We think very highly of the Betsy family and have multiple females stemming from our herd’s matriarch who is still going strong at 11 years of age. This bull’s sire, Northern Legend, needs no introduction and quite literally a legend in the breed siring many standout animals. If you’re looking to wean a group of high gaining steers and replacement heifers, look no further than this bull!
