The members of each club have worked hard for the past year to prepare for the Regional Show. A 4-H member develops many valuable life skills and lessons through these projects, including time management skills essential for accomplishing his or her goals and responsibilities, managing finances, making business decisions, caring for animals, raising livestock, exhibiting leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and competing. Furthermore, 4-H provides instruction on keeping records, marketing oneself, gaining self-confidence, interacting with others, and conducting interviews. By purchasing an animal, youth can support their development as they work on 4-H projects. The 4-H program is not just about agriculture. It equips young people with valuable life skills, preparing them for various careers. By supporting 4-H, you're investing in agriculture and the future of our youth.
Wondering what to do with all that meat? First and foremost, enjoy it! Our 4-H clubs ensure the highest quality meat, a testament to our members' dedication and hard work. If you cannot eat it all, consider sharing a half with another company or family members. Need to break it down even further; it can be split between four businesses or families. Perhaps you could donate a portion of it to the local food bank or care home, or you can choose to resell it through Chopper K Auction Mart. Supporting 4-H is not just about the present. It is about investing in the future. By supporting our program, you are helping to build caring, community-minded individuals who will make a difference in the world. In our 4-H clubs, leaders teach our members how to choose quality livestock and maintain consistent nutrition, health, and daily care for them.
Youth from across the country have attended universities, colleges, and trade schools thanks to the 4-H program and its many supporters. In addition to being business leaders, they have excelled in agronomy, teaching, caring for others, farming, mechanics, welding, and many other fields. You gain publicity for your business through buyer lists and announcements. Beef and lamb are locally grown and of high quality. Your cost over and above the current market price is deductible as a tax write-off for your company's business as advertising. If you choose to donate the animal, your entire cost is tax deductible. Consult your accountant for more information.
In the words of a butcher in the area, “You are receiving the best possible beef that money can buy. These steers are fed extremely well, are well taken care of, and contain good genetics, and the customer can have confidence in the beef they are receiving. ”
To show you the difference between store and 4-H prices in our area and our current economy, a steer weighing 1400 lbs will be used. On average, you will yield 60% of the live weight, which gives you a hanging weight of 840 lbs. You pay processing (cut & wrap) on the animal’s hanging weight, also called on the rail. From there, on average, you will yield (take home) 60% of the rail weight. This means you will have about 504 pounds of meat for the freezer. Including soup bones, liver, heart, etc., will increase the meat you put in the freezer. However, because you pay for the hanging weight, it does not increase your processing fees. The average processing fee does not include added processing - hamburger patties, sausages, etc. For approximately $1,088 less than at the grocery store, you can support a young entrepreneur and know EXACTLY where your food is raised and what it was fed. You’d also support a local butcher and have the meat cut to your specifications.

To show you the difference between store and 4-H prices in our area and our current economy, a lamb weighing 120 lbs will be used. On average, you will yield 48% of the live weight, which gives you a carcass of 58 lbs. Including bones, liver, heart, kidneys, etc., will increase the meat you put in the freezer. The average processing fee does not include added processing - lamb burgers, sausages, etc. On the next page, you will see that using average prices, you can save $607.00 by purchasing a 4-H lamb over buying a grocery store lamb.

Market Lambs are not necessarily wether lambs; they can also be ewe lambs. If they are ewe lambs, rather than butchering them, you can also take them home and start a flock or add them to your flock. They will add value to your program.
