Welcome to the 5th annual Spring Lake Simmentals Bull Sale. We are very excited about the bulls this year and what they have to offer.

You will see some of the same proven sires from years past that ourselves and our customers have come to appreciate for their consistency as well as some new bloodlines that we’ve been very happy with.

Our main goal is to create structurally sound, easy doing, performance cattle year after year. With 300+ breeding females we feel that this is a very strong group of bulls. No matter what your breeding needs are, we try to have a bull that fits everyone’s program.

If you would like to view the bulls prior to sale day, everyone is always welcome. Doug and Eric Zimmer are renowned for their “Zimmer Red” cattle, a colour that was not only named after them but has become widely recognized in the industry. Known for its deep red colour these bulls are thick, hairy, and soft-sided. The red group features numerous highlights, and I firmly believe the breeder bull potential is exponential. I eagerly anticipate revisiting this group at sale time to witness the progress of the bulls on my list, with particular favourites being lots 2 and 16 from mid-January visit.

This year’s Fullblood group is truly impressive. B Bar C Justify has exceeded all expectations at Spring Lake, producing a remarkable set of polled sons. The sire group boasts exceptional muscle shape and body length, with many features. 96L, a cherry red goggle-eyed Payroll son, standing out as a particularly eye-catching, homo-polled addition. The Fullblood bulls present a thick and visually striking selection of potential herd bull prospects.

The black bulls continue to be a robust group of hairy, well-built individuals. Sired by Hawkeye, Southern Comfort, Utah, and Canyon, this may not be a large group in terms of numbers, but the quality is undoubtedly noteworthy.

This is a powerful, homo polled, red son of ZSL Tillman 127H. His picture tells the story. He is a sharp profiled herd sire prospect that is long bodied, deep flanked and heavy quartered. Not only has his sire, Tillman, given him the genetics to make him good but then you add in the power of his ZSL Sysco 197F mothers pedigree and there was very little chance for him to not be an exceptional bull. A definite headliner in this powerful group of red bulls for 2024. 141L is big topped with a powerful hip and packed full of natural muscle while maintaining that presence and herd bull look.

You may remember his sire, ZSL Tillman 127H, as our lead off bull in the 2021 sale. We have used Tillman ourselves a fair bit since then as we kept semen on the bull. He darn sure can crank out the bull calves as well as top end females. His sired group of bulls in this sale are second to none.

We’ve been extremely happy with what Epic has done here in the heifer pen. He calves easy and they grow like weeds. His mother is an impressive Sysco daughter with a perfect udder and a ton of milk which allowed him to wean off at over 950 lbs on a first calf heifer.

Montego really is an impressive all around calf, and you can never go wrong with Sysco in the pedigree.

There isn’t many of these OVS Joker calves as he gave us mostly heifer calves, however the bulls we got are going to be very useful herdsires, 34L has a really nice disposition, tons of hair and is really smooth in the front shoulders. He would be a good candidate for a group of young cows.

Dark Star is a carbon copy of our $50,000 high selling Betts son last year. This is the exact type of bull we look to use in our own herd, the length and thickness in this bull is the reason he pushes down the scale, a weaning weight of 1000 pounds and yearling weight of 1400+. It’s not very common to see the blood red colour in the Betts line, but this guy is as dark as they come with a great hair coat too. His mother was a moderate framed, big barrelled cow with a flawless udder, unfortunately she is no longer walking our pens.

Pac-Man is a Southern Comfort son that started off at a very moderate 92 pound birth weight yet weaned at over 800 pounds off of a heifer. Since then he has continued to impress us more every day. This dark red, thick, soft sided herd sire prospect will calve exceptionally well while still producing the heavy steers that we all want. Just a note, the Southern Comfort females are exceptional.

When we bought Ruger from Red Willow Ranch a few years back, he looked exactly like this bull. He’s so dark red he’s almost black.

His mother ZSL 6B is a fullblood cow that I am proud to show any visitor to our farm. She has put bulls in the good purebred herds of Crossroads and Robb Farms.

Co-owned with the Bieleny’s of Anchor Lazy U, we felt that we needed to keep using his genetics in our herd to add the performance and maternal values that we know are in this bull.

Wheatland Next Century 43H was a record high selling bull at the Wheatland Simmentals sale in 2021. We took one look at him at Alta Genetics and knew we had to buy a semen unit on him from Darnell. He was our type when it came to meat and performance and the same body type that we try to produce here at Spring Lake. He calves very well and they go on to be a thick, sound and very useful type of animal.

We have hired the most trusted sale staff we could think of to assist you with any purchasing requirements you may have in your absence. Terms & Conditions DELIVERY: $100 off per lot if picked up sale day. Bulls will be kept free of charge for a reasonable length of time, usually until you need them. In rare cases and for convenience reasons, you may be asked to receive your bull(s) when delivering other bulls to your area. All bulls must be insured if going back to the seller’s farm unless arrangements have been made between the buyer and seller . Insurance will be available on sale day.

HEALTH OF BULLS: Spring Lake Simmentals guarantee to sell you a bull that is structurally sound and has passed a semen test done by a licensed veterinarian. Our bulls are raised on a BULLSEYE ration and go through a regiment of herd health shots designed to protect and enhance the longevity of the bulls.
