General Manager's Notes With the thermometer finally reaching past sixty degrees today, just one week after two feet of snow fell at Cattail Creek, we can finally start thinking about spring. My first few months have passed by rather quickly with many changes occuring around the Club. One of the changes made was to our management staff structure. The position of Catering Director was created to provide our Membership with a more personal touch when planning their special events. Jennifer Turowski has stepped into this role after spending two years here as an intern and last season as a Dining Room Manager upon her graduation from the University of Delaware with a degree in hospitality. During my short time here, Jennifer has assisted many Members with planning private functions for all sorts of occasions. She is able to assist with small birthday lunches to elegant evening affairs. As a Member-focused Club, our goal is to be the venue of choice for your special events of any size.

As you are aware, we also host a limited number of private golf outings on Mondays during the season. We have only a few prime dates remaining, and want to do our best to ensure that the Membership receives priority for these preferred dates. They are a terrific way to entertain your corporate clients or to support your favorite philanthropic organization. Please contact Jennifer if you are interested in hosting a Monday event at Cattail this golf season.

If you are unaware of your own website credentials, please contact a Cattail Creek manager or the Membership Department for assistance. All Members have their own profile in the website that is created for each individual spouse at the time of joining. Let us know if you need access to yours, so that we know who's coming - you, or your spouse!

OF THE MONTH

Another change (dictated to us by the IRS) is the new differentiation between a service charge and tip. Currently, there is a 20% service charge on every chit with the staff receiving 15% and the Club receiving 5% to cover labor costs. Going forward, the chit will show the 15% service charge which the staff will continue to receive, however the remaining 5% will be listed as an administrative fee. The service charge amount will not change nor will the amount distributed to the staff change from its current amount. Only the itemization of the service charge will change, per the IRS guidelines.

We have managed to accomplish quite a bit this off-season and I hope that you enjoy the improvements to the Club. We are all excited for a wonderful and busy 2014 season.

Eileen Dietz - New Nominee - 3 Year Term Eileen Dietz, her husband, Kevin, and their three daughters, Jessie, Maddie, and Katie, have been Golf Members since 2001. From the spring through the fall, you can find Eileen on the tennis courts either playing a USTA match, taking a lesson from a Tennis Pro, or running a social for the Cattail Creek Women's Tennis Association (CCWTA). Eileen's daughters have grown up at Cattail participating in the Junior Golf and Tennis Programs and the Crocs Swim Team; and spending most of their summer days at the Cattail Pool! The Dietz Family attends a high percentage of the social events that take place in the Clubhouse and at the Pool.

For the past three years, Eileen has been the Social Chair for the CCWTA and runs at least 10 socials a year, coming up with fun, creative themes for them. Eileen is the Founding & Past President of the CCWTA, sits on the Tennis Committee, served on the Tennis Classic Committee, and served on the Search Committee for the hiring of the Director of Tennis in 2013.

EILEEN DIETZ

Eileen is a graduate of Indiana University and has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. Eileen taught Elementary and High School Physical Education for nine years prior to moving to Maryland.

Ray Ignacio - New Nominee - 3 Year Term Ray has lived in Maryland his entire life and has resided in Howard County for the past 23 years. Ray, his wife Meg, and his two daughters, Amanda and Hannah, have been Golf Members of Cattail Creek since 2000. Ray has previously served on the Membership Committee, including a term as Chair, during which he helped the Club increase its Membership during the recent recession years. Ray is a regular on the golf course and frequent participant on the "B" golf team. He and his family enjoy dining at the club and shopping in the pro shop. Ray's daughters attend Mount de Sales Academy and are avid lacrosse and field hockey players. Meg is active in Howard County's Lacrosse Program serving on the Board of Directors as the Executive Vice President of Girl's Lacrosse. Ray and Meg are both active volunteers at Mount de Sales Academy with Ray serving as a member on the Development Committee.

RAY IGNACIO

Ray is a graduate from the University of Maryland Baltimore County where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management. Ray has spent his 25 year career in management consulting and is currently a Principal at Deloitte Consulting LLP. As a Principal for Deloitte Consulting LLP, Ray consults to Fortune 1000 companies on enterprise resource planning business applications, business transformations, and application management services with a focus in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2009, Ray spent 18 years as a Vice President at IBM and a Principal for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Gary Garofalo - Renewal - 3 Year Term Gary and his wife, Kelly, have been Golf Members since 2002. They live in the neighboring Wellington community with their four kids; Justine, 25, Vincent, 23, Brittany, 21 and Danielle, 19. Gary graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Accounting. The first ten years of his career were spent in public accounting where he was exposed to a number of different businesses with a concentration in the real estate and construction industries. For the last 23 years Gary has served as the CFO for Harkins Builders, Inc., a large and well-respected, Howard County based Mid-Atlantic residential and commercial general contractor. During his tenure, Harkins has quadrupled in size and has remained profitable during the ups and downs that have plagued the real estate and construction markets. His wife Kelly has served on both the Tennis and Pool Committees. Over the past 12 years she has played, and at times captained, the CCWTA and the Mid-Atlantic USTA teams.

GARY GAROFALO

Gary has served on Cattail's Executive Committee as the Club's Treasurer for the past three years and he is thrilled with the positive changes that have recently been made within the Golf and Tennis Programs. He believes these changes will keep Cattail on track and looks forward to working with the various committees to ensure they are done in a financially prudent manner that will strengthen the long-term financial security of our Club.

Mike Jack - Renewal - 3 Year Term Mike has been a Golf Member at Cattail since 1992 and a Board Member since 2011. He is an active Member who has served on several Committees including the Search Committee for new Golf Course Superintendent in 2010; Green Committee since 2001; and the Long Range Planning Committee.

Professionally, Mike is an attorney in private practice since 1981, specializing in construction law, real estate, and civil litigation. He is the Chairman of the Howard County Revenue Authority (appointed by County Executive, confirmed by County Council) 2006 through present; Attorney Grievance Commission, Inquiry Panel and Peer Review Committee, 1990 through present.

SOUS VIDE STEAK GRILLED STEAK

Chef Tom Caswell is now cooking sous-vide! Learn why.

Sous vide is a revolutionary cooking technology that essentially untilizes heated water and vacuum-sealed bags in lieu of the traditional grilling method.

Cattail has recently acquired the professional sous vide water circulator pictured at left, which keeps the water in the bin at an exact temperature selected by Chef Tom, corresponding to your preference, i.e. rare, medium well, et cetera. All a la carte steaks in the Restaurant are currently being cooked using this technology. They are first sealed in vacuum packs, and then placed into the heated water for a certain amount of time.

This process tenderizes the meats and allows them to remain jucy. It also locks in natural flavors and assists in the marinating process. The best part - the whole steak is cooked perfectly even!

Chef Tom is excited to take a special two-day class this month with a master chef who specializes in sous vide methods. He looks forward to using this technology on other meats, and even vegetables, very soon!

Cattail Staff is CPR Certified!

During the Club’s Winter Shutdown, 18 Cattail Creek staff members and managers completed a CPR, AED, and basic first aid course on-site with an instructor from the American Safety & Health Institute.

While we hope to never have to use the skills learned in the course, you can rest easier knowing that you are in safe hands when visiting your Club.

Please note that the Club has two AED units and oxygen tanks on premise. One set is located in the Administrative Office in the Main Building, and the other is in the Fitness Center. Standard first aid supplies are also in these two areas, and additionally in the Shoe Shine/Locker Room, at the Pool, and in the Golf Shop. << Justin Passero, Dining Room Manager & John Foelber, Fitness Director, are pictured at left.

BIN System Improves Wine Service Time MATT AULT

During Winter Shutdown, the Food & Beverage Team was busy implementing a new BIN system for easy storage and location of all wines. This system will allow Members to order their desired wine using a unique BIN number that is assigned to that particular wine, which can be found next to the wine on our wine list. Your server, manager, or bartender can then retrieve the wine quickly, because it is organized by numerical order in our storage room.

Since this system has been enacted, we have noticed a dramatic decrease in wine service time. Because of this, we are able to serve you better and more quickly, which makes us happy!

After spending nearly two years as Cattail’s Communications Director, Carey Ward will be leaving us in a full-time capacity to pursue a freelance career in design.

While we are sad to see her go, we are excited for her new endeavor, and will forever be indebted to the work she did to elevate Cattail’s branding, professionalism and consistency from a communications and design standpoint.

During her tenure here, Carey worked diligently to modernize our everyday communications such as our monthly newsletter, event advertisements and flyers, and also the look and feel of our website and blast emails.

Welcome, Katie Thompson New Communications Director

Katie was born and raised in Cambridge, MD, living with her Mom, Dad and Sister. She graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 2008 and from Lynchburg College,VA, in May 2012. She majored in Graphic Design and Advanced Photography. Throughout college, Katie was involved in many extracurricular activities, including membership in the Kappa Pi Art Fraternity, studying abroad in Europe, and being elected President of the Student Body her senior year.

Stemming from a family of designers, painters, and photographers, Katie has always been in love with the arts; she knew from a young age she wanted to follow in their footsteps. Katie has enjoyed her first few weeks, learning the ins and outs of Cattail Creek. She is eager to get to know all of the members and begin her journey as Communications Director.

She further took our annual Sports Book publication to an entirely new level of quality, and completed a beautiful Corporate Membership brochure among many other smaller projects.

Carey’s involvement with promotional materials for the Tennis Classic, Rally for a Cure event, Purplepalooza Golf Invitational, and numerous other events directly contributed to the turnout and success of the functions.

On a personal level, both Miriam Powell and I have greatly enjoyed working with Carey in the Membership and Marketing Department.

A few sentences in a newsletter article simply doesn’t do justice to the positive impact she has had on the Club’s marketing efforts. In addition to the above-mentioned accomplishments, she was a catalyst to our social media marketing, vendor relations, and enhanced staff morale with her personalized birthday cards that all managers sign for one another on their respective birthdays.

Thanks to Carey, whenever I see an advertisement out in public, I immediately think to myself “There is not enough white space in that ad!” I hope that Carey leaves Cattail with as many positive memories of us, as we will have of her.

NEW WEEKEND MORNING TEE TIME LOTTERY BOB WAMPLER

The lottery will close on the Thursday prior, at 6:00 p.m. At that time, the Golf Professional Staff will receive a list of all requests made.

Once the lottery is generated, the tee sheet will open up and any Member will be able to make a normal starting time, join a group of less than four players, etc. Additionally, you are still encouraged to “walk up” on weekend mornings if you would like to play and did not make a lottery request or a starting time. The Golf Professional Staff will ensure that you find a game.

Choose a Timeframe Range & Submit (Fig. 2)

The Golf Professional Staff and the Golf Committee are excited to introduce a new lottery system for starting times on weekend and holiday mornings. This user-friendly system will allow the Golf Professional Staff to enhance Member service, make more informed staffing decisions and alleviate some of the early morning chaos that previously existed on busy weekend mornings. Additionally, the system will eliminate the need for Members to rush to the Club hours prior to the Course opening to try to get an early starting time.

Making a Lottery Request (Fig. 1)

MEN'S GOLF

Members will be able to make a request for either Saturday or Sunday, one week in advance. This process will be identical to making an online tee time. The only difference is that the Member is making a “lottery request” instead of a starting time. The screen shot above shows what this systemwill look like.

When you click the tee time you'd like to be entered for, the grey box (Fig. 2) will appear. You may sign up as a single, twosome, threesome or foursome. On the bottom of the lottery request, using the "Lottery Options" tab, you will be asked to select a timeframe range that you would be willing to accept if you do not receive your specific tee time request. Members will be notified via email confirming their lottery request was received. Another confirmation will be sent another confirmation email when the lottery generates your actual starting time.

Cattail Creek has a lot of great golf events! For the more competitive golfer, tournaments like Club Championship, Founder's Cup, Senior Club Championship, and Men's Hiahleah are a few of the favorites each year. If you are looking for something just a little more relaxed, the Anniversary Golf Event, Nine and Dine Events, Men's Opening and Closing Days, and the Superintendent's Revenge are the ones for you.

No matter what your golfing pleasure may be, if you are interested in participating in any of these and more, be sure to take advantage of the 2014 Tournament Club.

The Cattail Creek Tournament Club (TC) is a cost-saving benefit to Golf Members who wish to play in golf tournaments held at the Club. The price of the Tournament Club covers the registration fees for many of 2014 events for men, women, and juniors of all skill levels, and offer a little something for everyone. If you are a female golfer interested in joining the CCWGA, the Tournament Club covers that registration fee too!

You can still participate in Club tournaments without signing up for the TC and pay the entry fee, but if you plan on playing in at least three of these events, take advantage of this offer.You can sign up as an individual, or under the family plan.

Those Members who participated in the Tournament Club last year will automatically be renewed for 2014. If you would like to sign up for the TC or wish to be removed, please contact Nic Flickinger at nic@ cattailcreekcc.com.

Despite all of the cold temperatures and snow, a lot has been going on in the Professional Shop! In January, we made the trip to Orlando for the PGA Merchandise Show, where we were able to place the majority of our fall orders, revise our spring orders, and see what is new in the golf industry. We also had some great bonding time! Nic made an excellent chauffer for the entire trip, Eli was able to hit all the new clubs at Demo Day, and Bob only locked us out of the house once. Of course, we were able to sneak in some golf as well!

I am very excited for the next couple of weeks. We have a lot of great merchandise coming in for the spring from a variety of brands. It will nice for the Professional Shop to be full of new merchandise, and full of Members, too! I welcome your feedback on the items arriving beginning this month. It is through that feedback that we can make sure we offer what you are looking for, and can fill in any gaps through future orders. The Shop should be an establishment that not only the Staff is proud of, but that our Members are proud of as well.

This year, I was given the opportunity to be on Cobra/Puma staff. I am very excited to play with some new equipment and see what their technology will do for my game. Eli has joined Nic and will be representing Callaway equipment, while Ricky and Bob will both have the new TaylorMade products in their bags.

We welcome any questions about all of the newly released irons, hybrids, fairway woods, drivers and putters that you may have.

Eli custom-fit me for my clubs, which was a quick and painless process. I highly encourage all of you to do a club fitting before you purchase new clubs. 1911 President William Taft, the 27th President of the United States becomes the first president to openly admit to playing golf. He later publically endoresed and encouraged the game of golf.

President Taft played a 20 handicap, but was known to regularly shoot below 90.

He played at Chevy Chase Country Club after celebrating the completion of the Connecticuit Avenue bridge.

The great depression takes a significant toll on city clubs, permanently boosting the growth of country clubs. Only the most prestigious of city clubs survive.

A group of 46 individuals from Howard County, MD formed what is now known as Cattail Creek Country Club.

Their goal was to acquire, develop, and enjoy a member-owned golf and country club. Willard Byrd of Atlanta, GA was chosen to be the course architect.

1913 The US Congress passes the 16th ammendment allowing the government to tax personal income and slowed the rapid growth of the club industry.

Prseident Warren Harding helps raise the golfing consciousness of America by presenting the US Open trophy to champion Jim Barnes at Columbia Country Club, Chevy Chase, MD

Professional Golfer, Tom Watson resigned his membership from the Kansas City CC because they denied membership to a highly successful and wellrespected Jewish businessman.

After the publicity, the club offered Henry Bloch a membership offer, and Tom Watson rejoined the club.

This incident prompted the USGA and LPGA to also develop anti-discrimination policies.

1993 Cattail Creek's Golf Course opened for play the first week of July, 1993, under the leadership of Kevin Pryseski, Golf Course Superintendent, and the voluntary efforts of many of the early Members.

1990 "We don't discriminate in every other area except blacks." said Hall Thompson, on the make-up of Shoal Creek Country Club's membership, which at the time included Jews and women but no AfricanAmericans. Shoal Creek CC promptly ended the policy.

Most golfers don't realize that grips are relatively simple to change and that the right grip can have an enormous impact on their ability to shoot lower scores.

Titleist Demo Day - Tuesday, April 22

If a golfer is playing with the standard-issue grip that came with their clubs, there is a good chance it’s the wrong size! Most new golf clubs come with standard-sized grips but not all golfers have standard-sized hands. The correct grip size allows you to set the club properly at the top of the backswing. A grip that is too small will cause the club face to close prematurely, and lead to placement inconsistencies. Conversely, a grip that is too large reduces hand action, and can greatly reduce swing speed and shot distance. With the season quickly approaching, this is a great time to have your clubs re-gripped so they will be ready once the season begins.

Technically, winter is nearing its end and we know Spring fever will soon be setting in. As of right now we cannot set a specific date as to when the Regular Golf Course will open but we are shooting for mid-March. As the sun moves higher and higher each day, the soil temperatures will surely come up so that the grass can start to grow for 2014. As you have seen on the Blog this winter, we have gotten a variety of things done on and off the Course and there are still a number of things pending that we want to get done before the season is in full swing. This opening will be a “soft” opening. A soft opening means that normal daily tasks like mowing greens, changing cups and raking bunkers will only be done 1-2 times per week as we also look to finish off a few projects with the soil thawed. As the season moves into April and the grass starts to take off, our regular season staff will come back, and our focus will shift into manicuring a pristine Golf Course.

As has been true in the past, March is our main cultural practice month.

When we talk about accomplishing projects for March, modifying the turf and soil takes the bulk of that menu. In the coming weeks we will begin aerifying and verticutting tees, verticutting and solid tine aerifying fairways and following both projects up with sand topdressing.

Weather permitting, March 17, we will be pulling ½ inch cores out of the greens and filling the holes with coarse sand. This year we will be omitting the Dryject process. We feel that over the past three years, the Dryject has helped us reach a sustainable level of health on the greens and we will be able to maintain that level with our own tools.

With that said, we will be looking at double aerifying the greens this

March to make sure the bentgrass greens have a great opportunity to live a healthy life this year. Along with these physical practices, we will be filling in the gaps from our soil tests with all the necessary nutrients.

This winter we have made solid progress towards having our property certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. This is a long and indepth process and we have spent some serious time documenting and implementing plans. The documentation process allows us to figure out how we are contributing positively to the environment and then what we will be able to improve upon. We have now completed four of the six programs for certification. They are as follows: Wildlife and Habitat Management, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation and Environmental Case Study. We hope to finish the final two programs, Water Quality Management and Outreach and Education in the coming weeks before spring really starts. Completing these programs will provide us with a strong environmental plan and maintaining certification will ensure that we are stewards of the environment for many years to come.

This is an exciting time for the Golf Course and there will be all kinds of important info firing through the Green Department Blog.

In short time, look out for an update on the proposed Golf Course Improvements. Even with the bitter cold and record snowfall we were still able to get many different things accomplished on and off the Course and we are looking forward to an impressive 2014. See you on the Course!

TRY ISOMETRIC EXERCISES JOHN FOELBER [FITNESS DIRECTOR] Isometric exercises are defined as any exercise where there is muscular contraction without joint movement. Some more familiar isometric movements include wall sits, squat holds, glute bridges and planks. Implementing these exercises are easy, all you do is get into the desired position and hold, and hold, and hold either for a set time or until muscular fatigue. Because there is no movement they are much safer than their joint moving counter parts, meaning a wall sit or squat hold is safer than doing squats for repetitions. In my opinion, the king of all isometric movements is the plank which is as simple as they come. To perform a plank start in a prone (stomach down) position and push up so that you are supported on your toes and braced on your elbows and forearms so that your body creates a straight line from your heels to your shoulders with your spine and head extended.

I would recommend trying it if you haven’t before or revisiting it if it is not part of your current workout starting with thirty seconds trying to build up to a full minute or two or three. I know of a few Members who can perform a plank for over six minutes and are well on their way to their ten minute goal!

Don't be afraid to try colored balls!

ALEX JUSTINIANI [DIRECTOR OF TENNIS] Have you ever said to yourself on the court, “I wish I could have learned that skill better, and earlier?” As a coach, I hear that all the time. Well, what I am about to say may shock you, but it will definitely help your game. Use different colored tennis balls for developing skills!

Ball manufacturers in the U.S. have always wrongly labeled colored balls as youth tennis balls for programs like QuickStart and 10 & Under Tennis.That is not the case in Europe and other parts of the world.They are simply balls that allow you to learn in different ways. For example, in France, as a beginner player you might start out on a slightly smaller court with an orange ball, but as you progress and build confidence, you would move up to the green ball, and so on, to the traditional yellow ball.

NEW FOR 2014 JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM Cattail Creek Junior Tennis now uses GRIPS in the 'USTA 10 and Under' and 'Junior Tennis Academy' programs. GRIPS is a nation-wide program that objectively evaluates tennis students by clearly defining what skills are needed to advance as a tennis player.GRIPS has eleven "skill levels" for kids, and also eleven levels for teens (JV/Varsity).The skill sets at each level were carefully developed to foster a consistent and well-planned progression of tennis capability and knowledge.

When a student comes to me asking to work on a specific skill, it is sometimes beneficial to use different colored balls to provide for proper technique and preparation to take place. A red ball will be slower with a lower bounce, while an orange ball will have a slightly faster and higher bounce. A green dotted ball is the ideal ball to use when you are working on rally consistency, since it will feel a lot like the yellow ball, but it will not bounce as high, it will allow for great point of contact for players.

Once you progress at your own speed, you can try it out with the yellow ball. If the technical problems still exist, the good news is you can always go back to working with different colored balls. Expect to see your Tennis Professionals use these balls in lessons and clinics! We know you'll find them helpful during your learning process!

At each level, the tennis racquet of any given student has a particular color grip (similar to the colored belts of karate). Each student is given an initial GRIPS placement evaluation test, to determine their current level and tennis racquet grip color. The student and parent are given an online GRIPS account, for learning & taking assessments.

Near the end of each 4-week Junior Program session, students are given their assessment with the expectation that they will continue to progress. Students should take their GRIPS tests during a regular session; additional tests require a fee of $20. To advance to the next level, students must also take a written knowledge test on the GRIPS website. Students are encouraged to practice, study, and take sample tests before their actual assessements. After passing each test, students receive a certificate and a grip of the appropriate color for the next level of the program.

An $8 (per player) GRIPS administrative fee is billed each month on your statement April through September. This fee covers the colored grips your child will receive, and access to the GRIPS website and ladder.

MEET CHRIS COZZILLIO Cattail's New Head Tennis Professional!

Chris, welcome to Cattail! We are all excited to learn more about you. Can you tell us a little bit about where you are from and where your tennis roots began?

I grew up in Harrisburg, PA and started playing tennis around the age of seven. I instantly fell in love with the sport. I played four years for Trinity High School, then continued playing tennis in college for Wilkes University and King's College. I have been teaching tennis for the past seven years.

You played college tennis, give us some insight on what it’s like to play for a team rather than just yourself? Did you enjoy it?

Playing for any team, especially a college team, is such a unique experience. In tennis, most of the competition is through individual success. You enter a tournament by yourself, and you win or lose by yourself. But playing for a team is completely different. It teaches you how to work with a group of people to reach a common goal. I thoroughly enjoyed it--if I had remaining years of eligibility--I'd still be playing!

So you majored in Journalism, that’s awesome! Can you tell us what you enjoy writing about and where you have been published as well.

When I transferred to King's College, I switched majors to Professional Writing. Through this major, I pursued an internship with Tennis View Magazine. I received the internship--which was exciting because they only choose one or two interns a year. Through the internship, I was able to have multiple articles published. It has always been one of my dreams to have an article in a tennis magazine published, so the opportunities I was given through that internship will be something I cherish forever.

What ages do you enjoy working with the most?

This is one of the toughest questions to answer in my opinion. I have worked with all ages, and each one has its own rewards. I love working with adults because each adult has a unique set of goals. Some want to get better for success in their USTA leagues, some want to learn so they can play with their kids who have taken in interest in the sport, and others want to learn just to obtain a new skill. That is why tennis is such a great sport--it is never too late to learn how to play or to improve your game. I also like working with the juniors because I can relate to them very well. A large number of juniors are striving to have tournament success or play for their high school or college teams. Since I went through all of those steps, I can help aid them to achieve those goals. The "Quick Start" age group is always a blast as well. Helping kids grow a passion for tennis at a very young age is such a great feeling. So I guess my answer is all ages What is in your racquet bag?

I have two Babolat Pure Strike tennis rackets, my Ipod, grips, extra shirts, socks, shoes, athletic tape, ankle braces--anything and everything I might need for a day of work or a tournament.

Tell us about your family.

Before I joined the Cattail Creek family, I was a staff professional at Birchwood Tennis and Fitness in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. I worked there during my four years of college, and then remained in the area as a full-time employee after graduation. It was a terrific experience, but I am looking forward to the new adventure waiting for me in Glenwood!

My parents, Michael and Krista, are the ones who got me hooked on tennis as a little kid. My mom started it all, then got my dad to play, then my sister and brother, then me. My brother is a staff professional at Birchwood Tennis and Fitness, and also the Head Men's and Women's Coach of Marywood University. It was great growing up being able to play tennis with the whole family.

What are some of your objectives and goals coming in?

What else do you enjoy besides tennis?

I have a number of goals for my transition to Cattail Creek. My primary goal is to make sure my transition is smooth and that Alex and I are able to hit the ground running with programs right when I arrive. My other goal is to make sure we make tennis fun for all ages so that kids and adults alike can't wait to come play tennis every day. I could not get to the courts soon enough when I was a little kid, so I would like to create that kind of atmosphere.

When I can, I like going to concerts and live performances.

Before coming to Cattail, in what facility were you teaching tennis?

This last question is for the kids to get to know you, what’s your favorite food, movie and color.
