From Darkness To Light

o give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the
way of peace” (Luke 1:79). I lived with severe anxiety and depression
until I was 33. God instantly delivered me when I was born again in Batam, Indonesia. That was more than 20 years ago. I have experienced deep sadness and even heartbreak since then. The difference now is that I know that God is with me. No matter what happens around me, I have deep and settled joy in my heart that is not dependent upon circumstances or upon the actions or inactions of others. I completely trust God with my life. 2 Corinthians 4:6: “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” This joy is not conditional. This joy is a gift from God. He can make a way out of no way. He can move us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. Today’s devotion is to share that no matter how dark it seems, there is new life and hope in Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:9: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” Isaiah 9:2: “The people that walked in darkness have
Thanksgiving and Prayer
We come before you today to thank you for your
promise of hope in this dark world. Thank you for your living Word, which brings us new life and light. May our lives bring hope and light to others as we follow you. In Jesus’ name we pray and believe. Amen. John 8:12: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
