Thankful Giving

Giving thanks as we should for all things is very important. This year, we have all had to step back and take a second look at our lives, plus the lives of families and friends. But we have the assurance that God cares about us.

Ephesians 5:20: “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We need to stop and take a look at every aspect of our lives and see those things that are good and perfect gifts that God has so bountifully given to us. 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

We have a roof over our heads despite not building it. We have food to eat despite not having to plant and grow it. If we have our health, it’s a true blessing. Some people are not as fortunate. We have cars, buses, trains, bikes, and more available for us to have transportation. Some aren’t as fortunate: they have to walk or get a ride to where they need to go.

Psalm 107:1: “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

We have had the opportunity to have an education. We also have machines to wash and dry our clothes, computers, and cell phones just to stay in contact with each other. We have CD players, with which we can enjoy the music of our choice. We have the privilege of and enjoy getting our mail delivered right to our house. We have all the public services of the police, fire department, and all the civil services, doctors, hospitals, and so much more. In this area, we are very blessed: yes, very blessed indeed. Colossians 4:2: “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” As we are approaching this Thanksgiving season, let’s start to think about all the things that we can be thankful for. We all have many things. Just stop and take a look around. Psalm 28:7: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

We really don’t deserve what we have as a nation: we owe the Heavenly Father for it all. He deserves our true thanks, praise, and worship.

I thank the Heavenly Father because He is always by my side through the dark clouds and through the sunshine.

Philemon 1:4: “I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers.”
