Bishop Peter Elliot helps us to understand the Christian sacrifice given to us at the Last Supper by reflecting on the shape of the liturgy, its actions and symbols, particularly the altar and sacred space set apart for the Eucharistic sacrifice.
He considers the priest and people gathered to celebrate this Sacrifice, as well as Christ’s words at the Last Supper proclaiming Christ as Priest and Lamb.
These reflections should encourage each of us to ask how we can value the Mass more and how the sacrificial mysteries of the altar can add meaning and value to our daily lives as Christians.
