Walking Alongside Our Youth: Youth Ministry at St. Boniface
Middle school, high school — the teenage years can often be a confusing and overwhelming stage on the journey of life. As a parish family, is it our job to step up and walk alongside our young people, teaching them about our faith and empowering them to live a life of Christian discipleship.
“I want [our youth] to know there’s somebody who cares about them and no matter what the problem, you can reach out, and we can figure out what to do,” says parishioner Sabrina Adams, who is helping to coordinate our new Youth Ministry outreach at St. Boniface.

Along with other parents in our community, Sabrina noticed a need for our young people and decided to do something about it.
“There are a few of us who have realized that we want better for our kids than what society is right now,” Sabrina says. “I think so many of our kids are getting lost in the shuffle of busy life.”
By providing opportunities for students to have fun together, discuss relevant topics, gain skills and participate in service, the Youth Ministry at St. Boniface will create a place for our youth to feel “at home” in our parish.
“It’s going to be fun,” Sabrina says. “I want it to feel like this is a space to be able to discuss things, put your opinion out — no matter what your opinion is — and let’s discuss it.”
Sabrina hopes young people will find likeminded peers and adults to serve as role models and examples of living the faith in everyday life.
“I want them to be conscious of their daily life and activities and how God plays a role in that,” Sabrina says.
“We want them to have a chain to reach out to,” she adds. “I want our kids to be able to come and talk to people, so no questions are off the table and they can get answers from someone who shares a common faith base.”
Parishioners are invited to consider how they might be able to support our new Youth Ministry program, perhaps making a meal for the teens, giving financial support for activities, or sharing a skill.
Sabrina encourages teens to come and see what our Youth Ministry is all about.
“If you have fun activities that revolve around faith, it’s much easier to make good choices,” Sabrina says. “[Our youth] need somewhere to go — because if they don’t have a place here, they’ll go somewhere else.”
