About Catholic Owned
Catholic Owned exists to propagate Knowledge of, Devotion to, and Love & Admiration for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in reparation for the many sins & blasphemies against her.
In practical terms, we are building the New Catholic Economy.
Over time, our community members can make fewer compromises and be more free to pursue ever greater devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Marywhat is known to be the sweetest path to sainthood.
From the Desk of Monsignor
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
There is a popular and pious practice to dedicate the month of May to honor Mary the Mother of Our Lord Salve Regina Mater Misericordiae
Each day in our prayers, we call Mary Queen and Mother of Mercy She is the Mother of Jesus our merciful King St Alphonsus of Liguori says, "For our own common consolation she is a Queen so sweet, clement and ready to help us in all our miseries, that the holy Church wills that we should salute her with this prayer under the title of Queen of Mercy" (The Glories of Mary)
The saints have repeatedly emphasized that we in our human frailty should not fear to approach Mary and ask for her intercession In her sweetness and gentleness, she inspires confidence God has given her an Immaculate and benign heart to be the refuge for us sinners Saint Bernard of Clairvaux says, "We can call her Queen of Mercy because she opens the abyss of the mercy of God to whomsoever she wills "
At the Annunciation of the Archangel Gabriel, indeed the abyss of God's mercy was opened When Mary pronounced her fiat (let it be done), God descended from heaven and clothed Himself in her womb with our poor and fragile human nature "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1:14) This revealed truth was particularly exposed by Saint Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria. During the 4th century, he faithfully defended the full humanity and the full divinity of Christ the Son of God against the Arian heresy.
Let us devoutly pray the rosary each day and implore the potent and prompt aid of the Queen of Mercy against the enemy of our soul and the enemies of Christianity. Let us ask her to protect our families and the integrity of the Catholic Faith in the Church founded by our Lord Jesus Christ. Fr. Oscar F. Castaneda

Roger BockwegAgent, Catholic Order of Foresters
Serving Catholics by: Growing the faith through fraternal outreach activities
Keeping Catholic families financially bulletproof with Catholic life insurance & annuities
As an independent agent for the Catholic Order of Foresters, I help grow the faith by creating and executing fraternal outreach activities, while also helping protect the financial futures of Catholic families. I can do this all while transparently being truly Catholic in all my actions and deeds.
All of my work includes educational meetings with Catholics, aimed at helping them become financially bulletproof I pray before each meeting, asking the Holy Spirit to “reveal financial issues I can help with If there are none, please send me on to the next family “ This approach makes for a low pressure, high learning environment
With the Catholic Order of Foresters, the best quality and quantity of life insurance is within reach. In fact, in most cases, this peace-of-mind is available for less than what many will spend per week at the coffee shop. The impact on my clients is that they have peace of mind. Financial peace of mind for Catholic families who can rest assured that their spouse and children will not be impoverished if they were to pass away means they can focus on what’s important and be covered in case of disaster This is best illustrated with a simple math problem:
If one has a newborn in the home, that child will likely be living in that home about 20 years. That said, if someone is making $100K a year, if they died, to replace 20 years of lost income requires two million dollars
The life insurance policy would replace that lost income for the family In this example, we do not account for future potential increases for merit and inflation, though they are also worth considering.
Fraternal Life Insurance & Annuities in Five States, incl. Florida Find Roger
The Catholic Order of Foresters makes this kind of coverage affordable for Catholic families As a non-profit fraternal benefit society, we exist ONLY for the purpose of serving our members. Because we have no shareholders to pay, we have some of the most affordable life insurance in the country for baptized Catholics and those married to them. COF doesn’t stop there
COF’s Investment Policy Statement mandates that the invested assets of the organization be managed in a manner that is consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church For devout Catholics, this makes a significant difference.
Not only is there peace of mind financially, but there’s also peace of conscience. Our clients enjoy the benefits of knowing their family is protected, and that the funds are being managed without even a remote participation in evil You can read more about our investing policy by clicking here. Taking our commitment to the Catholic community a step further, COF offers a special benefit in which 5% of the face value of the policy will be committed to the insured’s favorite Catholic charity upon their passing at no cost to the insured or their beneficiaries. These gifts can make a significant difference for the charities, and we have careful requirements to ensure the charities are authentically Catholic
In addition, we provide a variety of fraternal outreach to serve and care for the Catholic community Programs include scholarships for homeschool, grade school, high school and college students, mission trips for those aged 18-24, Adopt-A-Seminarian, and other year-round efforts to feed people spiritually, physically and mentally. Spirituality Tap Ins are special events where COF sends a Priest or Deacon into a bar or coffee shop to deliver an evangelistic talk to the public
Serving Catholics is all that we do at COF
Please consider an appointment with me today I would love to show how COF could benefit your family now and for years to come This assessment is free and resulting coverages could cost less than your weekly coffee. I look forward to meeting virtually or in person during one of my monthly visits to South Florida, where I enjoy family and serving Catholic friends all year round.

Renee Smith, M.S. CCC-SLP
Owner & Pediatric Speech Therapist, Grace Therapy Solutions
Serving Children via Telehealth throughout Florida
Helping Children to: communicate functionally advocate for their individual needs improve academic achievement
connect socially with peers, family & friends
Grace Therapy Solutions provides virtual speech and language services to children with communication needs all throughout Florida Parents often struggle to keep up with children and family members’ appointments, sports, hobbies, etc This makes teletherapy a convenient option for families who want to participate in their child’s speech and language therapy sessions from the comfort of their own home!
As a daughter of immigrants, the importance of hard work was instilled in me as a child. My parents encouraged me to, not only follow my passions, but to find a way to make my passions work for me. Upon entering the field of speech-language pathology, I knew that I wanted to someday have my own private practice. In 2022, I married my husband who is in the military and moved away from my childhood home in Florida to live in North Carolina. With my husband’s job causing him to spend so much time away from home, and with our first baby on the way, I realized that I needed to find a way to stay home while still contributing income to our household That’s what inspired me to make my private practice virtual- so that I can be a stay-athome mom and still live out my passion of helping children improve their communication skills Throughout my career as a speech therapist, I have worked with children of all ages who have various types of disabilities that might affect their communication, i e Language Disorders, Speech Sound Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sound
Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Emotional Behavior Disorders, Learning Disabilities, etc. The treatment I provide as a speech therapist is individually tailored to each client’s needs, therefore positively impacting the ability to communicate functionally, advocate for his or her wants/needs, improve academic achievement, and connect socially with peers So far as a speech therapist, I have helped dozens of children master their speech and language goals and graduate from speech therapy, being able to say all speech sounds correctly, perform at grade/age level in language arts, and communicate functionally with family and friends I learned how to integrate my faith in my work by following the example of my mother, Gizel Abdallah. She worked for over 20 years as a Church Music Director and Music Teacher, and is currently doing so at All Saints Catholic Church and School in Sunrise, Florida. At 8 years old, I started singing with my mother in the church, whether it was as part of the school choir or as a cantor at weekend Masses, and continued singing at Masses with her as an adult. She set the ultimate example of how to use the gifts that God has blessed you with to glorify Him in return. I recognize that God has blessed me with the gift to be able to help children with communication needs So it is my duty to be able to share this gift with families
My Catholic faith also inspired the name of my practice – Grace Therapy Solutions As Catholics we know that the only real solution to any of our problems, difficulties or obstacles in life lies in offering them all up to the Lord because he is the Ultimate Solution And we are only granted solutions through His loving grace God’s grace is healing Throughout my career I have prayed for the grace to be patient and loving during trying times. And I am constantly giving grace to my clients who struggle daily to communicate, and to parents who might be juggling countless responsibilities.
Growing up with a musical mom, our favorite saint was always St. Cecilia. She is the patron saint of music and musicians, mainly singers. She used her voice to worship and glorify God. As a speech therapist, I like to think that my helping children to use their voice is glorification to God as well.

Floriani Sacred Music
Nonprofit Revitalizing Sacred Music in America
Floriani Sacred Music is dedicated to serving the Church and saving the culture through the beauty of sacred music. We believe in the power of Sacred Beauty to awaken and deepen a desire for Christ and His Church
By singing for liturgies, performing educational concerts, and teaching, both in person and remotely with our online course, Gregorian Chant Academy, and our Chant School Podcast, we introduce people of all musical backgrounds to the Church’s rich heritage of liturgical music. Giorgio Navarini founded Floriani originally as a barbershop group as a student at Thomas Aquinas College, where he met Thomas, Joe and Graham, each of whom sang in his choir at different times. Eventually, they moved on from barbershop to sacred music, and realized it was this which they truly loved to sing Years later, after they’d all long graduated, they reconnected, quit their jobs, and moved to Arizona to begin Floriani as a non-profit men’s vocal ensemble with a mission to revitalize sacred music throughout the world
Floriani is proud to have taught and developed a devoted children’s choir in Phoenix, AZ for almost three years These young choristers have proved to be a remarkable testimony to the accessibility of sacred
music, as they have grown so proficient as to perform, often while conducting themselves, for Masses, weddings and concerts. The choristers’ own love for sacred music is infectious to those who hear them, almost inevitably moving the heart and soul of the listener
In the Vatican II document, “Sacrosanctum Concilium,” sacred music is said to be “a treasure of inestimable value, greater than that of any other art ” Our mission is to inspire a renaissance of sacred beauty through the music of the Church, whereby hearts might be able to encounter Christ, the Source of Beauty.
St Florian is our patron, from whom we take our name He is Giorgio’s Confirmation saint, and is attributed by Giorgio to have saved him from nearly drowning Giorgio did not know when he chose him as his saint that St Florian is the patron of drowning victims!
Our favorite quote would be the one mentioned above from Sacrosanctum Concilium, as it establishes the preeminence of sacred music, as an art, in the liturgy

May 9: Ascension of the Lord
The Solemnity of the Ascension is one of the Ecumenical feasts ranking with the feasts of the Passion, of Easter and of Pentecost among the most solemn in the calendar. It falls 40 days after Easter, on the 6th Thursday of Easter. The Ascension has been celebrated since the very Early Church, with representations of the mystery found in diptychs and frescoes dating as early as the fifth century.
Speaking to the Apostles, Jesus said, “But you shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth. And when He had said these things, while they looked on, He was raised up: and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” (Acts 1:8-9)
By ascending into His glory, Christ completed the work of our redemption. Put another way, the Ascension is the final component of the paschal mystery. And He gave the disciples notice that the Father would be sending the Holy Spirit soon, and that they would never be alone, even after He had ascended, telling them, “Behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.” (Matthew 28:20)
As Catholics, we are to understand the Ascension as a completion of Christ’s salvific work, and also the beginning of our own. In a sense, the onus is on us now, as the Savior has ascended and is not with us on the earth in the same way as He once was. For the disciples, on earth was the only way they had known Him. As a result, this day marked a big change for them and their mission. Let’s put ourselves in their shoes: Before this, they had been with Him three years, witnesses countless miracles, healings, teachings and wonders. Jesus had prepared them very well, even if in their humanity, some of them couldn’t quite soak it all in or understand. Then, they witnessed His brutal Passion, endured the long nights until He was resurrected, and had spent the past 40 days with Him showing up in various places and teaching them even more. And now, they were on top of a mountain watching Him
ascend into Heaven. After He went up, they had to rely on what He had taught them, the leadership of Peter, and wait for the Holy Ghost. They also had the Old Law to contend with and make sense of, for themselves and for those whom they had been charged with bringing the Gospel to.
As mere humans, they may have felt overwhelmed with many emotions and the sheer magnitude of what had just unfolded before them. They wouldn’t have to wait long for the Paraclete, just ten days, but we can imagine the conversations between them during that time.
By the time St. Paul wrote his letter to the Colossians, it seems they had figured it out: “Therefore, if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above; where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1) And by the fifth century, St. Augustine of Hippo wrote, “Out of compassion for us He descended from heaven, and although He ascended alone, we also ascend, because we are in Him by grace.”
May 19: Pentecost Sunday
The Israelites celebrated Pentecost 50 days after the Passover, as commanded by God in the book of Leviticus Moses recorded God’s commands regarding the sacrifice of the Firstlings, or first fruits, which will be the theme of Embertide this coming week
Today is the Christian Pentecost, and is considered the second greatest Feast of the liturgical year It marks the birth of the Church, and in many ways completes the fulfillment of the Old Covenant in the New From today’s Gospel: “But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you ” Also called the Comforter by Our Lord, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and Our Blessed Mother who were gathered in the Cenacle, coming with a great sound of wind
“And there appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak ” (Acts 2:3-4)
The Apostles then went out preaching in the various languages, and many were converted in a short time Peter’s preaching converted 3,000 that first day, and that was only the beginning.
One of the ways in which this special Feast accomplishes the fulfillment of the Old is in chapter 11 of Genesis. ”And therefore the name thereof was called Babel, because there the language of the
whole earth was confounded ” (Genesis 11:9)
In Babel, it was the Lord who went down and confused the language of the people who were previously “of one tongue ” The diversity of their language divided the people and they were scattered across the earth
In the great fulfillment of the Christian Pentecost, the Lord came down to unite all people- both Gentiles and Jews First, through the sacrifice of His Son and then by the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the fruits of which made conversing and therefore evangelization possible
“And therefore from that day the trumpet of the Gospel-preaching has sounded loud: from that day the showers of gracious gifts, the rivers of blessings, have watered every desert and all the dry land ” (Pope St Leo I, Whitsuntide, Sermon 75)
Not only did the Holy Ghost bring the gift of tongues, but He has guided the Church as Our Lord Jesus Christ promised The Church has relied on the gift of the Holy Spirit throughout the Church Age, through to today
A prayer for today:
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth
Let us pray.
O God, who have taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that in the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Whit Embertide
May 22: Ember Wednesday of Pentecost
May 24: Ember Friday of Pentecost
May 25: Ember Saturday of Pentecost
Already Summer is here, and with it comes Whit Embertide. In modern times and with school schedules, Summer is a time thought of as a break, with less structure, and slowed progress, but it isn’t traditionally understood this way.
For those who work the land, Summer is when the work is done to support the harvest, with long hours spent under the heat of the sun to accomplish what is needed to foster growth of the crops. Similarly, there is great spiritual work to be done in our own hearts. The time for the harvest will be here soon enough, and so we must put in the time and labor now.
In His abundance and generosity, God has also adorned the season of Summer with some of His grandest creations--blue skies, bright sunshine, lush vegetation, fun activities with friends and playing with water in all its forms are the theme of Summer. Bustling wildlife, daylight into the evening, a sense of freedom and a palate of color at the table unlike any other time of year. The smells and tastes of the season are what we wait for all year. In all of this goodness, we must remember to give to God of our first fruits just as He commanded the Israelites for the Old Covenant Pentecost, enjoy our blessings in moderation, and to fulfill our Christian duties.
Fasting Rules for Whit Embertide
Fasting consists of the following:
One full meal and two smaller meals, that when combined, do not equal a full meal.

Ember Friday of Pentecost- Fasting & Abstinence: No meat is allowed. Fish, eggs and cheese are allowed.
Ember Saturday of Pentecost– Fasting & Abstinence: No meat is allowed. Fish, eggs and cheese are allowed.
Wishing you & yours a blessed Whit Embertide!
Most High, all-powerful, good Lord, Yours are the praises, the glory, and the honour, and all blessing.
To You alone, Most High, do they belong, and no human is worthy to mention Your name.
Praised be You, my Lord, with all Your creatures, especially Sir Brother Sun, Who is the day and through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendour; and bears a likeness of You, Most High One.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars, in heaven You formed them clear and precious and beautiful.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Wind, and through the air, cloudy and serene, and every kind of weather, through whom You give sustenance to Your creatures.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Water, who is very useful and humble and precious and chaste.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom You light the night, and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.
Praised be You, my Lord, through our Sister Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs.

Ultima Verba
As the Easter season draws to a close, we celebrate the Second and Third Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary, as well as Trinity Sunday at the end of the Octave of Pentecost
Then begins what is known on the new calendar as Ordinary Time.
The drama of the first portion of the liturgical year is quite a bit-- we have Advent, then Christmastide which ends at Candelmas in February.
Then we begin Lent on Ash Wednesday shortly after that. After the penitential preparations, we walk the Passion and then celebrate the greatest Sunday of the year-- the Sunday for which all other Sundays are celebrated, the Resurrection.
Eastertide, or Paschaltide, is an extended celebration of this greatest of victories, when we follow Our Lord after His Resurrection We follow Him all the way until He ascends and sends the Holy Spirit
And then, we have what could be described as a liturgical lull, when compared to the monumental events of our own salvation and that of mankind that we have been celebrating
However, there is beauty in the seemingly mundane Indeed, we can adopt a personal prayer routine that is all our own, explore new devotions, and learn about new saints in this time.
With a lighter schedule of the liturgy, we may find ourselves with spare time for serving the poor, ministering to each other in small groups, attending Catholic events and forging new connections in the Catholic community near us. One element of the beauty of Ordinary time as it is referred is the opportunity to make the most of the “ordinary” in our lives. While we may have less “big” holidays to prepare for, we can instead turn our attention more deeply to our spouses, our loved ones, and the elderly. And there are always, always Marian feast days to celebrate- far more than are on the main calendar We have the Visitation & Queenship of Mary (May 31), Our Mother of Perpetual Help (June 27), Our Lady of Mt Carmel (July 16), and the Assumption (August 15) all coming up soon May our own faith be refreshed in the upcoming season as we rededicate ourselves to our prayerful practices and devotions in the light of the Resurrection & Pentecost
