2015 Brings Over $1.3 Million in Patient Equipment to Kenmore Mercy Hospital
The Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board of Trustees is honored to report that, to date, 2015 has been a very eventful year. The Keller Family/Keller Technology Corporation was presented with the Sister Mary Mechitlde Memorial Award by Jim Rykowski and Lee Ann Vogt.
Honorees Recognized at A Tribute to Angels
A Tribute to Angels, hosted by Kenmore Mercy Foundation, was held on November 20 at the Buffalo/Niagara Marriott.
Over 340 guests enjoyed the evening which included fine cuisine, raffles, silent auctions and recognition of this year’s honorees. The Foundation was very proud to present awards to this year’s honorees. The Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award honorees were James Fitzpatrick, MD, and The Keller Family/Keller Technology Corporation. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Michael Landi, MD. These awards were created to honor those who give their support to the Foundation, the hospital and our community every day. This year’s “Fund an Item,” a unique component of the event, raised over $15,000 to purchase new wheelchairs. Guests at the event were able to bid on the “Fund an Item” and all proceeds raised will be used to purchase wheelchairs to use throughout the hospital. The Foundation would like to thank the major sponsors of the event who included the Penfold Family, the Habib Family along with Lee Ann and Tom Vogt and Vogt Sprinkler. Please mark your calendar – next year’s event is scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2016 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. Honorees will be announced in June 2016.
Funding for Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s equipment, programs and projects totaled over $1.3 million. The list below gives a glimpse a few key purchases made possible in 2015 and how they assist patients and associates.
Therapeutic Hypothermia System $50,000 This noninvasive treatment technique prevent permanent brain damage in patients who are resuscitated after sudden cardiac arrest. The ratecontrolled warming option allows caregivers to progressively increase temperature and reliably stabilize patient temperature at a selected set point.
Ultrasound Machine (2) $191,000 The machine uses diagnostic medical imaging techniques to visualize muscles, tendons, and many internal organs, to capture their size, structure and any pathological lesions with real time tomographic images.
Sterile Processing Case Cart Washer $335,000 The sterile processing case cart washer acts just like a Delta-Sonic car wash unit to perform the first cleaning of carts and instruments used in surgical procedures. This new cart washer will double the capacity of the cleaning process and greatly improve the efficiency of the operating rooms. Code 10 Resuscitation Carts $60,000 The contents of the Code 10 Resuscitation Carts (crash carts) contain the tools and drugs needed to treat a
person in or near cardiac arrest. This grant will allow the hospital to replace all of its resuscitation carts.
Patient Transport Stretchers (12) $72,000 Patient transport stretchers are designed for general patient transport and comfort. The hospital will purchase twelve new stretchers with this donation and improve transport safety for both patients and associates. “Contributions received from our physicians, the community, former patients, volunteers, Auxiliary members, along with net proceeds from our two signature events, A Tribute to Angels and the Golf & Wine Event has helped make these projects a reality,” said Susan Jandzinski, the Foundation’s new executive director. She added, “The Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board of Trustees plays a significant role in our fundraising efforts.”
