This project focused on the design and construction of "Tiny Houses" to serve the homeless in partnership with Community First! Village in Austin - a 27-acre master-planned community to help provide sustainable housing and support for the disabled and chronically homeless in Central Texas. A sustainable design approach was taken by prioritizing needs, identifying efficiencies, and reflecting on differences between needs and wants. Our design aims to be modular to aid in the possible expansion and mass-production of tiny homes. The approximately 144 square foot house includes a sleeping and dining area along with a covered deck with outdoor seating. Cross ventilation is made possible through a large door opening, window on opposite side, and three small windows. The angled roof serves for water collection. INTERIOR
