From the Urban to the Architecture

From the urban to the Architecture

Being the center of Medellín a place of confluence of the entire population that inhabits the territory, due to its wide range of cultural and economic services, it is important to generate new urban responses that face the new contemporary needs in the city, since The sector is very located, but with great social and urban environmental problems since the sector has an economic activity fostered by trade in the textile and mechanical area. The area that includes the center of Medellín is densely built, leaving little space for green areas, the absence of these areas generates pollution problems, be it auditory, air, or social.

Partial Plan and Relocation of Murindó Town
The current municipality of Murindó is located in the area of Urabá, northern Colombia, between the limits of the departments of Antioquia and Chocó, on one of the banks of the Atrato River. Originally, the town was located in an intermediate zone between the river and the mountains, but in 1992 the village suffered a largemagnitude earthquake that forced the Government of Antioquia to temporarily relocate the population to a riverside zone between the Atrato River and the Murindó River, without anticipating the constant problems of overflows. After the earthquake and the first relocation, the population has been affected by other factors such as armed violence, which the country has suffered and which has caused many of the inhabitants to abandon their lands and migrate to other municipalities. More recently, at the beginning of 2017, the municipality had one of its worst floods, to the point of having been declared in a state of calamity, for which its imminent transfer to a safe area is required, which is already destined at the foot of the mount, fourteen kilometers from the current municipal seat.

Taking into account the natural conditions and the access flows of the place the project is implemented and begins to orient its shorter facades in the east-towest direction, responding to the sun The hospital is divided into four volumes connected by bridges which generate interior gardens to seek more light and natural ventilation.
The project is conceived on the formal organization of the building based on its uses, the relationships established between them and their spatial qualities. The hospital is installed in a spaced way on the ground made up of four volumes connected by very clear circulations, arranged as follows:

Volume 1 the main body is located in the central part of the project, which facilitates pedestrian access, this is located at the end of the boulevard proposed in the urban approach. This volume has floors: the first level is for outpatient services and the second for administrative services
Volume 2: it is located on the side of the project, where the intersection of the main roads of the municipality is located, which allows easy vehicular access. In this volume is, on the first level, the emergency services, and on the second, obstetrics (which has one of the highest mortality rates in this population currently)

Volume 3: Intended for hospitalization use It is conceived as a meandering shape located at the back of the project, rising from the ground. Allows contemplation, privacy, and tranquility of patients This volume is connected to the others using glass bridges, which contribute to the access of patients to the general services that are required
Volume 4: dedicated to hospital services It is on the side a little detached from the rest of the project to restrict access to pedestrians the volume has a discrete connection that can provide services to other sectors of the hospital.
