Cadium-Free Silver Brazing Rod ®

EutecRod 1601

BRAZING • Cadmium - free bare rod general purpose brazing alloy • widely used on joints where greater corrosion resistance is needed • It exhibits good wetting action and flow • Useful in bridging gaps where poor joint fitups cannot be avoided • Excellent corrosion resistance • Joint clearances of .003 - .008 inches recommended for proper capillary action

A bare brazing rod requiring preparatory fluxing with XuperBraze 100 or Xuper Braze 100H. Available in 18“ lenghts in 1/16“ diameter. Packaged in 0.5 lb. and 1 lb. packs.

Preparation: The base metal surfaces to be brazed must be clean and free of all dirt, oil, grease and oxides such as rust.

TECHNICAL DATA: Solidus: Liquidus: Brazing Range: Specific Gravity: Density: Electrical Conductivity: Electrical Resistivity: Color,as Brazed: For Joint Clearances:

1220°F 1435°F 1435°F - 1585°F 9.04 4.76 oz/ 16.8 % IACS 10.27 Michrohm-cm Light Yellow .003 to .008 inches

The recommended maxium operating temperature of 1601 is up to 400°F in continued service and up to 600°F in intermittent service. SPECIFICATION: 1. AWS A5.8 BAg-4 2. ASME BAg-4 Generally, the joint strength using 1601 will excede the strengths of the base metals being joined. Type of joint, design of joint, joint clearances, and brazing procedures will effect the finished joint strength.

Finishing: All the corrosive flux residue must be removed after brazing. Rinse with water while the parts are still warm, or rinse with hot water.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS: Suitable for brazing tungsten carbide inserts, general tool tipping, and stainless steel food containers and food handling equipment. Used where greater corrosion resistance is required.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: Observe normal brazing and welding practices, respiratory protection and proper air flow pattern advised. For general welding and brazing practices, see AWS publications Z49.1 “Safety in Welding and Cutting and Allied Process”. Welding and brazing are completely safe processes when performed in accordance with proper safety measures. Become familiar with local safety regulations before beginning welding or brazing operations. DO NOT operate brazing or welding equipment or use brazing and welding materials before you have thoroughly read the proper instruction manual(s). Please refer to the Eutectic internet site for Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information. DISREGARDING THESE INSTRUCTIONS, AND/OR THE INSTRUCTIONS OF BRAZING EQUIPMENT OR MATERIAL MANUALS, MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH.
