Academies CASTLE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL

Academies at CVHS: Make our big school feel smaller; Deepen our relationships; Create rigorous learning experiences; and Create relevant learning experiences.

Each Sabercat chooses an ACADEMY. This learning community shares Academy-wide events and rituals like field trips, competitions, and guest speakers. Students are assigned to an Advisement class with other members of their Academy, ensuring that they experience this critical Academic and Social-Emotional support with peers and adults who share their interests.

Each Sabercat is welcome (and encouraged) to pursue a PATHWAY. Each Academy offers several pathways -- collections of required coursework with internship, service, and extracurricular connections-- that support students in going above and beyond in pursuit of their interests. A Sabercat who successfully completes a pathway is honored with a Diploma of Distinction and an Academy Stole to wear at graduation.

Our Business & Entrepreneurship Academy attracts ambitious, driven students who are passionate about exploring the dynamic world of business, whether they aim to attend college or jump directly into a career after high school. Designed to empower diverse interests, the academy offers pathways for students excited by traditional business fields like finance and marketing, creative industries such as digital media or fashion merchandising, or vocational skills such as cosmetology and auto repair. Students engage in real-world projects, internships, and mentorship opportunities, allowing them to build professional skills, develop portfolios, and network with industry leaders. This hands-on approach ensures that every student, regardless of their postgraduation plans, gains the tools and confidence to thrive in their chosen field.

Sabercats in the Business and Entrepreneurship Academy go on Field Trips, like Business and Baseball with the Colorado Rockies, Dream Accelerator, and Stock Market Challenge at DU and Charles Schwab.

They also hear from Guest Speakers from the business world, like Marketing Specialists, Entrepreneurs, Financial Analysts, Human Resource Specialists, Insurance Brokers, and Real Estate Agents.

Communication & Leadership Excellence in Everything.

Students entering the Communication and Leadership Academy should have a desire to create positive change in their communities through the unearthing, curation, and dissemination of critical information. Successful students will possess not only the strong belief that they can impact the world around them, but the wherewithal and commitment to act in pursuit of that impact.

Sabercats in the Communication and Leadership Academy go on Field Trips to News Stations, the State Capitol Building, and the Conference on World Affairs at CU Boulder.

They also hear from Guest Speakers, such as journalists, marketing executives, authors, and leaders.

Academy of Science Science – the path to a brighter future.

AoS students are interested in science, health/wellness, and helping the human population build a better tomorrow. They enjoy making sense of phenomena and solving problems through the scientific method-- asking questions, doing research, constructing and testing hypotheses, experimenting, analyzing data, making conclusions, and communicating results. AoS students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills that prepare them for success in academic and other postsecondary options.

Sabercats in the Academy of Science will participate in an annual AoS Day and hear from guest speakers like Biologists, Medical Professionals, First Responders, and Military Leaders. They will also attend competitions, like the CoorsTek Denver Metro Regional Science & Engineering Fair and the Colorado Science Olympiad.

Some AoS students will travel to the Catalina Environmental Leadership Program in California.

A Visual and Performing Arts Academy student at Castle View High School is an inclusive creator engaged in a diverse, interdisciplinary curriculum that enhances technical skills and personal expression. Students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills that prepare them for success in both creative and academic pursuits. Sabercats in the Visual & Performing Arts Academy go on an annual Field Trip called VPA DAY. It rotates between different local arts venues like museums and theaters.

They also show off their talents each year at the VPA REVUE. This is an annual combined concert of our performing arts department, including performances from Band, Orchestra, Choirs, Dance, and Theatre.
