Welcome to the Castleford Phoenix Theatre.

The Castleford Phoenix Theatre was opened in 2008 and is a modern 300 seat proscenium style theatre. While being part of Airedale Academy the Phoenix is not just a simple school hall.

With a dedicated foyer and bar, comfortable seating with excellent views of the stage and a new air conditioning system in the auditorium the Phoenix is one of the most enjoyable theatres to visit in Yorkshire.

With over 35 public events per year and growing the Phoenix helps put the arts at the heart of the community.

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS Last season was once again the busiest for the Phoenix so far. We hosted two pantomimes, numerous dance shows, cabarets, musicals and drama. In total we held over 35 public events which saw over 15,000 people attend.

This season we continue to look for new entertainment for the area as well as helping bring you the many company’s and societies which now call us their home.

We will be advertising the theatre to a wider audience so that we can bring you even more opportunities to see great entertainment, right here in the heart of the community.

Some of the highlights this season will be West Yorkshire Performers production of Aladdin in November, Our regular pantomime offerings which this year has three different pantos for the family to enjoy. Yew Tree Youth Theatre return with their acclaimed festive offering of Drama and the Theatre will be holding it’s first Valentines concert with 2 exciting groups on offer.

Kabaret Premier Following the success of their amazing previous season which featured two Kabarets, White Christmas, Miss Saigon and Billy Elliiot, The Cast begin their new season with Kabaret Premier.

An eclectic mix of Musical show stoppers, little known gems, fan favourites and much more. The show is the first production by

the new seasons company of the Cast which are made up of the students studying BTEC MUsical Theatre at Airedale Academy with many past students progressing onto top drama schools and universities around the country. This is a chance to catch tomorrows local stars of the future today!

Let’s Dance 2016 Victoria School of Dance return to the Phoenix with their annual charity show performed by between 60 - 70 pupils aged between 5 years to adult. The production showcases the work of the school over the past year.

Aladdin We are very pleased to confirm that Mark Waters is once again returning as our Dame in this very funny version of a ‘classic’ Panto.

The story takes us from the streets of Old Peking where Aladdin, the son of the local Laundry mistress, Widow Twankey, hears that The Emperors daughter, Princess Jasmine, is to parade through the streets.

It is illegal for anyone to set eyes on the Princess on pain of death, but Aladdin

decides he needs to see for himself if the stories of Jasmine’s beauty are correct... n the meantime, a very nasty magician called Abanazar is searching for a Magic Lamp that will give him ultimate power, So starts our tale of Aladdin The Panto ..... a cast of brilliant characters who are set to entertain you all, in a brilliant traditional Pantomime which, as always, is aimed at audience participation and fun for children of ALL ages.
