Head’sNote

Dear Parents,

As I write this newsletter, the tune of Harvest Samba is still resounding in my head and I find myself humming the tune at impromptu moments much to the amusement of Hannah, my PA, and to the annoyance of my sons – my status as the most embarrassing mum is complete! I can’t wait to see how Mr Smith ‘Strictly-fies’ our Christmas service!

Harvest is always such a joyful occasion – a time to give thanks, show gratitude for all that we have and to share with others. It was therefore wonderful to see so many of you at our Harvest service on Thursday afternoon. I will never tire of seeing the delight on the children’s faces as they spot you or another relative in the audience, and I challenge anyone not to smile during a Pre-Prep performance. I was so proud of all the children, but particularly our Pre-Prep children and our senior choir for their wonderful singing, as well our Year 8 pupils who led the service so confidently. Richard Jones, Headmaster of Bryanston, was amazed by the turn out for this service and it reminded me, once again, how fortunate I am to have such a supportive parent body – thank you

I also wanted to thank you for giving so generously at the Macmillan Cake Sale. The catering team did a wonderful job baking all the delicious cakes and I am delighted to share that we raised £633 for this fantastic cause I also wanted to thank you for your generous donations of food which we will be giving to the Corfe Mullen Food Bank. I know that these items will be greatly appreciated by local families and will make a huge difference.

vest is also a time to reflect, something which is so important in our increasingly busy es. As a school, we have been reflecting on the power of a Castle Court education and the positive impact it has on the lives of our pupils. As part of this, we contacted Old Castellans and asked a simple question: What did Castle Court give you? Our first contributor, Tiffanie (Old Castellan 1980-1985) journalist, author, sustainable retailer and environmental campaigner told us that Castle Court taught her that ‘the world is full of possibilities’ and gave her ‘the drive to be ambitious in life, to want more and to give more’ More reflections will be coming over the coming weeks Using the power of a Castle Court education to make a positive difference in the world is something we continue to instill in our pupils today. I can’t wait to see current pupils achieve in the future and the difference they will make Who knows, we may have the future PM, leading scientist, activist or Olympian in our midst As Tiffanie rightly said, for our pupils the world is full of endless possibilities and I hope we give each one of them the ‘roots to grow, and the wings to fly.’

Next week is our Open Morning and I am looking forward to celebrating all that makes this school so unique and special with prospective parents. Do continue to spread the word if you know any families who may be interested in attending

Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes, Katie
