Would your child like to start Music lessons in September 2025? and more!

Dear Parents,

Yesterday, we came together as a whole school community to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. In my assembly, I reflected on the quote ‘For your tomorrow, we gave our today’ and highlighted the huge sacrifices made by so many for the freedoms we enjoy today. I therefore challenged think about how they can honour these sacrifices by making their own ‘toda through acts of kindness, showing servant leadership and by standing up fo In doing so, they become the living legacy of those we remember. Whilst it pp p moments of reflection, including a two-minute silence, the day was also one to celebrate. We did this by holding a VE Day lunch with Union Jack flags, hats and music from the era. It was lovely to see the pupils enjoying getting into the spirit of the day.
Next week is our Year 3-8 Activities Week and I certainly hope that all the pupils will make each day count as they go off on their residentials or day trips. This week is such an important part of our educational provision, giving pupils the opportunity to challenge themselves by trying new things, enjoying time with friends and hopefully making wonderful memories which will last a lifetime. For pupils going on a residential, we will be sending parents a daily blog with key highlights and photos from each day, as well as sharing videos via our social media pages. Ahead of these trips, I wanted to thank my wonderful colleagues for all their hard work in organising these activities and for giving up their time so generously
This week, I have had the pleasure of spending some time with Pre-Prep and I have been so impressed with their enthusiasm for their learning and the way they have consistently demonstrated the Castle Court Way Time with Pre-Prep always brightens up my day and certainly continues to remind me of my ‘Why’ - thank you! Whilst Pre-Prep will be remaining at school next week, they certainly have lots to look forward to with a visit from BugFest for Reception and a trip to Hamworthy Beach for Year 2
Finally, if you haven’t already done so, please do sign up for our Summer Festival on Friday 6th June from 430pm This is a new event in our calendar and has been created as a result of feedback from parents asking for more events which you can enjoy with your child This afternoon will allow us to come together as a whole Castle Court Family to enjoy live music, circus skills, traditional games, bouncy slides, climbing walls, food stalls, face painting, summer tattoos, balloon modelling, football skills, numerous food stalls, and a cocktail bar I know it will be a wonderful occasion
It looks like we have another sunny weekend ahead, so I wish you all a relaxing weekend in the sunshine
Katie

Our Reception classes enjoyed a visit to The Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester.
They meet a stegosaurus, a triceratops, searched for fossils in the sand and even smelt the breath of a T-Rex! It was a wonderful morning of 'hands on' learning and we were so proud of the children's enthusiasm and subject knowledge.
Well done to you all!

This week’s Artist of the Week is Beau in Year 3, with this wonderful portrait of a chameleon
It is the strongest in the cohort and testament to Beau’s natural talent and great attention to detail. Miss Sinclair-Smith was truly blown away by the sophistication and level of control this piece demonstrates.
Pupils in Year 3 have been exploring colour and pattern, looking at Fauvism and the animal paintings of Franz Marc.
Well done, Beau!
