Interior Architecture + Design

Hi, Im Casey. Welcome to my portfolio.

My artistic style can be seen throughout my designs in the use of color, organic forms, and variety of materials. I am passionate about sustainability, research, and how the built environment can impact its occupants.

My personal design philosophy is to create a positive experience for the end user. Designs should be pleasing to the eye and pleasing to the body.

STEAM

Project Description

From the moment you step into STEAM, the experience is one of comfortable elegance. Rustic and modern elements mend seamlessly to create a casually-stylish environment, making it a perfect setting for their renowned food and acclaimed world-class wines and brews. STEAM is designed around the concept of a locomotive transportation. The mechanics of the train and the train tracks are used subtly in the finishes, furnishings, layout, and circulation.

Bauhaus Hotel Room

Project Description

The Bauhaus design movement began in 1919 in Wiemar, Germany. Its movement was a revolution which was born out of modernist culture. Bauhaus style combines fine art and functional design, creating practical designs/products that also function as artworks. Designs avoid excessive decor and include clean lines, minimal textures, and asymmetrical balance in furniture and layout. This Bauhaus hotel room is designed around a primary-color scheme and features replicas of iconic furniture from the school and modernist period, such as the B3 chair designed by Marcel Breuer. The rooms are minimal and functional- a key aspect of Bauhaus style.

The Farm is an 80-acre working Farm that houses a community of growers, producers, eateries, and educators who share a passion for growing food using traditional, sustainable methods that are 100% spray and chemical free. They are working towards improving the health and wellness of their community, from the ground up. This sustainable company will have an office design that incorporates the structure of honeycomb. Office spaces will be designed to look like hexagons mimicking the sections within the honeycomb. Acoustic tiles and ceiling tile will make you feel like you are working right alongside the bees.

Piece of Home

Project Description

Piece of Home is a company that redefines the vision of a refugee camp. While most camps are a holding place for individuals who have fled from their home country, our goal is to make the “refugee camp” feel more at home. Instead of living in churches or tents, Piece of Home wants to re-purpose storage containers and turn them into individual homes. They strive to build a community atmosphere that allows them to have pets, resources that give them the skills needed to succeed in their new country, and a co-op garden to support the community in becoming sustainable.

Clemence Crossing

Project Description

Clemence Crossing runs along the Taunton Riverfront in Fall River. Currently, access between the neighborhoods and the waterfront is limited and the corridor lacks bicycle accommodations. The redesign of Clemence Crossing within the corridor will help improve mobility, connectivity, and safety along and across Route 79 and Davol Street. Clemence Crossing is a community based around the local artists and creatives in Fall River. New infrastructure including apartments, amphitheater, theater, café, and studio/hotel space will help attract tourism to the waterfront, all the while adapting and mitigating the effects of climate change.

Tidal

Many things in our world operate according to cycles. These can be any repeating action, or anything that comes and goes and returns again. Seasons, engines, days, nights, and traffic lights. Tidal Flats light fixture takes its inspiration from cycles.

Lighting Design Project Description

The regular rise and fall of the ocean’s waters are known as the tidal cycle. Along coasts, the water slowly rises up over the shore and then slowly falls back again. The tidal cycle plays an important role in various aspects of human life as well as in the entire ecosystem of plants and animals.

This luminaire is inspired by tidal cycles: each of the twenty four cast glass panels represents the twenty four hours of the low and high tides of Massachusetts Semi-diurnal tide cycle. The texture of the cast glass is intended to reflect the natural movement of the waves, and the back of the panels are frosted to soften the light. LED strips are attached to the inside of cast glass and can be programed to light up in response to the anyone’s unique tidal cycle. This luminaire also features a central LED bulb which can be used to mold the light to make the cast glass glow, illustrating bio-luminescence.
