“La Catrina” one of Artist Jose Guadalupe Posada’s most iconic works has become a symbol of Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). In San Miguel in the last twenty years, streets full of strolling Catrinas have turned the city itself into an iconic Day of the Dead Celebration destination, noted Eric Cházaro, when talking about the advent of Catrina sightings since 2001 which has now morphed into hundreds, if not thousands, of Catrinas parading into the town square the evenings of November 1st and 2nd for “Día de Los Muertos” - a co-mingling of All Souls and All Saints Day by the Roman Catholic church and Indigenous harvest celebration traditions and beliefs. Aarón & Anne: "All You Need is Love" As the Beatles sang it, “All you need is love”— and local bicultural couple Aarón Romo and Anne Nicolai couldn’t agree more. Having recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary (after nearly 14 years together), they reflected on their formula for staying in love: it has a lot to do with the music they share with San Miguel audiences. As Anne, aka Karaoke Annie, said, “First of all, we both love what we do. As far as Aarón’s music and my karaoke, it’s not about performing together, it’s about supporting each other both personally and professionally.
